I am seriously thinking about speccing out of both barricade and backlash. It just slows you down ... This is just crazy talk. I'm sure dariat and I can agree on this. Haha, the common enemy It is crazy but there is some logic to it. Maybe I am not as good as the pros but both skill seems to be static. It seems to be easier to throw a quick ED+throw combo then mow down the stagglers with your gun.

BUILD: Throw (Rank 3) Energy Drain (Rank 5): Rank 4 - Recharge Speed, Rank 5 - Extended Drain Barricade (Rank 6): Rank 4 - Duration, Rank 5 - Weapon Feedback, Rank 6 - Electric Defense Weapon Training (Rank 6): Rank 4 - Power Damage, Rank 5 - Ammo & Targeting, Rank 6 - Weapon Specialist Tech Armor (Rank 6): Rank 4 - Protection/DR, Rank 5 - Stabilization/accuracy, Rank 6 - Reactive Armor Weapon: PIRANHA with barrel/smart choke Equipment: Shock Trooper Upgrade PLAY STYLE: The barricade works perfect for folks who love a high adrenalin//upclose shotgun fight. Reactive armor grants a 30% boost to all barricade associated damage and energy drain once you get hit. Brandish a PIRANHA and go beserker, evade forward in 45 deg angles/slide up point blank close to a group, drop barricade, barricade starts stunning/priming/dot, initiate tech combo 1 (barricade/throw). If ya get hit, initiate tech combo 2 (barricade/energy drain) and replenish shields. Unload violently on mook faces with the epitomy of violence known as the PIRANHA. Adhis or anything creeping behind you will get stunned by the barricade. Turn around and unload piranha on anything that tried to creep up on ya. Obliterate everything from point blank/close range. When group's dead, move on to new enemy group, rinse repeat. NOTE: You do not sit back with your barricade like a timid fool and wait for critters to run into you. YOU TAKE THE BARRICADE TO THEM! The human sentinel gets 15% damage/accuracy boost from Barricade, another 15% accuracy/stability on passive tree and another 15% accuracy/stability on Tech Armor Rank 5. In addition, you get a 50% accuracy boost when moving. You will be moving a lot with this build and your accuracy will be sky high. When you boost accuracy by that much on a high DPS/low accuracy weapon like the Piranha, you tend to become a beast! Good luck & god bless. Ran this a few games. its really fun but tech combos are so weak. Running hurricane with priming ammo is great because the accuracy bonuses (e.g. +50 when moving) make the hurricane insanely good...probably make the piranha the same... finding I would rather skip the priming barricade and play the same general way using both powers to 6...much rather fire combos with incendiary ammo...the hurricane primes so fast stun isn't needed...the recharge speed on throw is soo fast and energy drain when specced for it you can virtually detonate as fast as the hurricane can prime... and I can still drop cheap barricade in traffic...

I disagree. Priming barricade it's a must. Too slow for me and tech combos are too weak. It was fun and worked, don't get me wrong. I loved the stability angle of the OP. Switched from DR in 5A to accuracy in 5B and won't go back. DPS is higher with hurricane and incendiary ammo IMHO... both viable and fun...

Well, my experience with Backlash is very limited, but I like it.
It's impossible not to admit the trap of comparing the two directly is very easy to get caught up in - both sentinels have Throw, Energy Drain and Tech Armour, so having a defensive power with offensive augments puts them in comparable territory.
Even so, I'm going to say I find the powers very fundamentally different in the way that I would play them. I would say Backlash is the much faster, more versatile and easier to use of the two (recognizing I haven't used it in Gold and could be in for a rude surprise.) It has very fast activation, and I would probably play the A-Sent as a kind of of hybrid H-Sent and Asari Adept.
I have a deep horny love for Barrier. Human Sentinel is the only character that I've maxed to 20 so far, so I clearly enjoy the power set. It's very tactical, and I find that when the situation is very dire, Barrier is the most reliable situational disaster power that I have.

I don't get 1 pointing Throw on A.Sent...
It's a 3 second CD on your detonator if you max it and gives higher combo damage.

Well, a 3 sec CD on Throw is not particularly useful if ED is still in cooldown. Can't detonate if you can't prime. The 30% combo detonation bonus is helpful, but not enough to spend 6 ranks, especially compared to how good backlash is.

You can take rank 5 of Backlash (rank 6 is a waste of points), and both rank 6 of Throw and ED, though... Still get weight reduction from Tech Armor and combo bonus from the other tree. The only things you have to give up are the last 2 ranks of Tech Armor (kinda meh, imo) and Biotic Expert (which doesn't help combo damage anyway). Then again, I use ammo to prime, because having a 3 second Throw and double detonators in Throw and ED is too damn good not to prime w/ ammo if you've got the boosters. Sometimes I wish I had Tech Armor 6, but she's pretty sturdy w/ both Backlash 5 and ED 6 already.

I find that I clear the room more efficiently with backlash/gun than priming/detonating ammo. I haven't taken the habit of using ammo to prime with her so, again, playstyles. And not sure how I feel about having my build dependant on elemental ammo. But, yeah, that's a solid point you made.

Eh, even w/out priming, you really only give up the 15% accuracy / stability perk for offense.
But yeah, I play her like a space wizard mostly, lol. My aim is shit.

I've linked a Barricade gameplay video. Shows some crowd control scenarios, etc...Looks like some guy named Kenny Bania hijacked a "human sentinel build" thread with his backlash fetish. I will post a "GOLD SOLO" with the human sentinel barricade build shortly (so he'll shut his trap about the barricade being useless)

OP, are you sure Tech Armor 5b ("+50% accuracy while moving" part to be specific) is working on human sentinel? Cuz it is not working on my Asari Sentinel even after 1.08, but I haven't tested it on HS yet.
Edit: Okay, just used a respec card on Human Sentinel to test it... I am pretty certain my accuracy is not becoming better while moving.

Human Sentinel has + 28% weapon damage from Weapon Training, which is huge (something you won't see on other characters). Also has damage boost when shooting behind a Barricade. My Hurricane is at rank 3 and this is the standard damage: But with rank 10 mods and equipped on the Human sentinel I have: So she has huge damage boost, huge damage resistance, Barricade, Energy drain to replenish your shield... what more can you ask? To me she's the most secretly OP character. I only hope she doesn't get nerfed.

I have a very similar playstyle with her to the OP, though a little different build. Here's my build: The Third Race Builder LinkThe point about taking the Barricade to the enemy is critical for this kit to be both fun and effective. I love getting right up in their faces, priming and exploding all the things. However, I find that Throw sucks for priming and is a great detonator, so I mainly focus on getting Tech combos with priming ED, but I spec my throw with faster recharge, so occassionally I get biotic combos too. Generally, I prime with ED, less frequently, but very usefully, I prime with Barricade by getting in their face, and least frequent of all, I prime with Throw. Also, trying to ignore the urge to spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$ on a better video card after watching the MUCH smoother-than-mine gameplay.

There's a slightly more complicated way to hotlink that gets rid of the giant url. Edit: I forget the proper way to show BBCode formulas (Howyummy showed me but it was months ago and my brain sucks.) Does reflecting projectiles does the same amount of damage as firing your weapon and using your powers? I think not. I'm not arguing Backslash is not useful, but you can't say it outclasses the Barricade when clearly it's not. Show me a gif of you killing an Anointed that quickly with your weapons without getting hit, and I'll be willing to take you seriously. But you are getting hit. Backlash doesn't provide cover or even much protection.

Show me a gif of you killing an Anointed that quickly with your weapons without getting hit, and I'll be willing to take you seriously. But you are getting hit. Backlash doesn't provide cover or even much protection. I think it reduces damage by close to 50% at first rank, but don't quote me on that. Edit: Okay, I checked. It reflects most projectiles. I can confirm this from my own experience. Reflected projectiles represent a huge defense, since not even cover does that. The DR is 75. My bad, that translates to less than 50% DR on the remaining attacks that get through. I don't know what projectiles don't count, as I have only used her twice, but the remaining damage is being reduced by 37.5% (I think, I might be wrong.) Even so, pretty sure that counts as very good defense, especially the projectile thing.
