SAM vs. EDI

They had to give us a reason to keep her? lol

Not really about AI's in general. Just SAM and EDI, since they are the AI companions that are closest to the protagonist (Shep/Ryder).

In terms of relationship. EDI is Shepard's AI buddy and SAM is Ryder's AI buddy.

I never understood myself. I felt she was fine in ME2, but I felt by ME3 she was forced on me. As well as a very unused Squadmate that was wasting space imo.

Same! Grunt if not Wrex. We seriously lacked a Krogan!

Just feels more rounded lol though Drack has topped all the Krogan for me.

Why not both? It's not like ME3 couldn't accomodate anymore. They should've had placeholders for cameos like Grunt, Miranda, Kasumi, etc. Oh well.

Easily EDI....she was well written and even as the stereotypical sexbot, in ME3 there were times where she struggled trying to understand the basic fundamentals of human concepts and feelings. She was great on missions as she logically analyzed every scenario the party was in. Sam was just annoying... 

I hated when they gave EDI a body. And when I heard about SAM before 'Andromeda' launched, I got a terrible Master Chief/Cortana feeling about the whole thing. But at the end of my first playthrough of the game I realized that I really do love SAM.

I'm hoping that the Ryder twins return in future sequels, and SAM with them.

Okay? Just okay. Let me explain why your opinion is unpopular.

#1. Genophage. Both are product of this devastating, cold and calculating virus (disease? something bad...) that the Salarians engineered to cull their numbers. The Krogan were uplifted way too soon and never given the chance to work out their own path in the stars (Mordin explained this brilliantly.) In many ways, the Krogan are a cautionary tale of taking a species too far too soon without accepting all the variables involved.
#2. The Rachni Wars. The Rachni war was bringing the Alliance races to a breaking point and they uplifted the Krogan (there is a statue on the Citadel) to turn their fortunes. Ever see any other race have their statue up in the Citadel? 
#3 You're seeing the Krogan at their worst, not their best. They're broken, they lack direction and individually, they are sole powerhouses. As a group, they own battlefields. However, everyone is wary of the Krogan. It is better to hire them out as a bouncer here, a merc leader there, a guard for this rich guy, etc. They were once grand builders if you can look past the rubble on Tuchanka. They were artistic and to some extent, some poetry still exists, but it's exceedingly rare.
#4 Redemption. Wrex, Grunt, and Drack all earned my loyalty. They knew that the only real road to redemption was the hard one. Saren's cloning facility was a cheap way and it got nuked. Grunt was a solution through spirit and not through science or a syringe. The Krogan are to be respected for their strength and their new found will. However, they're the best friends you can have at your back and trust them when it matters.
