With the reveal that we will have more than one protagonis who we can shift during the game do you think they are going to ditch the squad system of trilogy and instead go for the player jumping party of DAI?
Maybe they realized the computer is too stupid to be trusted so you can assume direct control of your sniper squad member to give proper cover for charging soldiers and vanguards.

When was it confirmed that we would have more than one protagonist?
I would also like to note that in Dragon Age, each game has a different protagonist but there's never been a game in the series with more than one protagonist. There's fan-based speculation that there might be in the future but nothing has been confirmed and it has never been done in any of the prior games. Unless you mean that the player can control a companion during combat?

I don't think that was confirmed at all. Tbh I don't want to control my squadmates, I want them to be independent on their own.

There isnt going to be more than one protagonist; there's going to be two distinct characters that exist in the setting and you simply play one, like in FO4. As for being able to directly control squaddies, I don't see any issue really, so long as the AI isn't trash and followers actually stick to commands ( I said HOLD dammit).

Seriously, in this respect I definitely hope it's NOT DA In Space. The 'hold' command in Inquisition was temperamental as hell.

The only game i'm aware that has more than one "protagonist" is Agents of Mayhem, where you tag-team with three characters. *shrug*

There are plenty of shooters where you can switch between characters, Clive Barker's Jericho and State of Decay comes to mind, but no, I think it's unlikely for ME:A. ME series has been traditionally dating simulators with mediocre cover shooter mechanics beneath.

I hope they keep the same protagonist throughout all three games. It's a big reason why I like ME far better than DA.

I don't think we will be able to switch between the siblings but i'm making a wild guess that in some missions we might be playing as the N7 Father. Also i am almost certain that we will be able to customize the appearance of both brother and sister regardless of who we choose to play as.

I think it's pretty clear there is an implied "if" to my response. Also given that the OP started the thread comparing ME to DA it should be even more obvious.

I want it to be just like the other Mass Effect games. 1 Protagonist (which is highly likely for switching between two does odd things to a story) en 2 squadmates out on the field that I can control with commands. Not play at that squadmate a la DA

But anyway, my reply was a tongue-in-cheek response a la poster #2.

The one thing from DA that I'd love to see added to ME is the tactics we had in DAO. It would be great being able to pre-determine when a squaddie would use a gel, or for instance having them only use a detonating power when a primer is applied. The micromanagement was not that complicated to perform in ME, but the squaddie AI rules left to be desired. In DAI, the micromanagement was almost a must on higher difficulties, which was sometimes a bit of a chore. I don't need to spend that much time on every battle, personally.
As for the protagonist, I also hope we stick to 1, and that it be the same protagonist in any sequels. I'm not particularly interested in playing different protagonists in games (Heavy Rain was the exception). I much prefer deeper character development over the course of one or more games. It's a great feeling for me to be able to continue a story over several games with a Shepard or a Geralt, with their prior history, as opposed to having a new blank slate every time.

So the first part that ISN'T the OP question - we do not switch protagonist in MEA. At the 'start' we choose either the brother or the sister. So they are, technically, two generally distinct people in the world but we don't swap between them in the game. Tweet made that more clear (even though it was kinda clear originally) when people asked few days ago.
As far as the actual question (opposed to the misinformation) I doubt it? But it's possible. Original ME1 designs had us not really having control over party members like that but there was a tactical cam similar to DAI. Least that's what they showcased originally. It kinda let you drive around away from Shepard and tell squadies to move to locations and whatnot - they dropped that idea obviously. Kinda like they dropped it on console for DAO and entirely in DA2. But for DA that was because they 'didn't think they could do it right' so considering thats changed maybe?
Either way, doubt we'll control squadmates directly. Not really that kind of game. Unless they decide to make actual 'tanks', dps'ers and healers then theres very little point to it. What're you gonna do, swap characters so you can shoot guns instead of what your currently doing, shooting guns? The ability to pause and call out a specific ability from squadmates (which we could already do) is all you actually need in that style of game.

I don't think you get to choose more than once /playthrough. Brother or sister, which will you play... Ok choice made, no more swapping.
It would be quite the thing if at the endgame one of your options chocies or strategies would get you killed and if you imported the game you would play as the sister or brother instead.... I wouldn't want it to be a forced thing as the only option though or one of two where one has to die..
