If looks is all you care about. Seriously, I would say it depends on everyone's tastes in gaming. I'm with OP, only not using the same harsh words for the upcoming game. Not my cup of tea, regardless how good it looks. I'm not the least bit interested in listening to preteens shouting homophobic and racist slurs into their mic. Such as I experienced on my short stint of playing GTAV online. I'm not a big fan of multiplayer either. The game lead is hinting at a strong SP story option, so I'm adopting a "wait and see" approach. It's possible we can have the best of both worlds, a profitable Bioware making a variety of games we like, including their Mass Effect and Dragon Age brands. Which to me makes sense. Spread the risk around, learn from each mistake or success and keep applying that experience moving forward. BioWare 2.0 doesn't have the experiences from developing in-house engines or the successes prior to EA's acquisition. Looking at the new canvas as a baseline is how I'm judging BioWare 2.0 from now on. Not only are they having to transform a suite of tools like Frostbite that was never intended for true RPGs, but watch the clock tick by. In my opinion, I would begin judgement starting from the canvas that they're using. Andromeda is the baseline for the Mass Effect series. As it's being patched, I'm seeing a solid 7 (I'm just basing it on my personal 10. 5 is average and bargain bin. 1 is waste of time and money. 10 is a masterpiece) and with further DLC it will get bumped to an 8 or 9. However, Andromeda won't be remembered for being an 8 or a 9. That hype window has passed, every YouTube critic is done beat this horse to death and HOPEFULLY all the talented people that kept it all together are still there.

I don't know if I will feel compelled to talk about it more, so I hope to limit the commentary to just one instance, but it's really upsetting to see this teaser and gameplay footage revealed after all of the disappointments surrounding Andromeda. I haven't played Andromeda yet, but I plan to pick it up later this year after most of the patching is complete. I expect to like, but not love it. It doesn't help that I am not very interested in open worlds, but I hear it might work to avoid ALL tasks.
I don't play multiplayer (couch co-op is fine though) or online games, so I have no interest in Anthem. There are some rumors of a single-player, story narrative which might have enticed me to check it out (being from Bioware, and all), but if the game requires me to be online, I am cut off from even investigating, as I don't have a dedicated line, and limited service (I unplug and carry my Playstation up to the office room once every few months to spend all day getting a few updates).
All of this big, Big, BIG makes me hope one of Bioware's next single-player RPG experiences is a small-scale, tight narrative with strong writing...

If I lost my job, ran through all my savings, and pawned whatever was left until I had about 70 bucks left (except for my gaming device obviously)...
I'd buy Andromeda DLC because frankly, I just finished a runthrough and I'm pretty jazzed about it and filled with general warm fuzzies.* But I might get both. Depends on how Anthem looks once you take the hood off. I'm predisposed to hate it, because it's not MY TYPE of game. But on the same hand, for me, the worst Bioware gaming experience I had was still pretty decent, so.... Huh.
*Except I'd probably save it for food if I was down to 70 bucks because Mama Trilobitederby taught me good fiscal habits.

I love Mass Effect for the great storyline based on character/sqadmate relationship. Anthem for the moment really looks like Destiny, so a FPS with MMO elements. If it's like Destiny, the gameplay could be really nice but with a shitty story. For me the vote is easy, Mass Effect > Anthem. Still, we don't really knows what Anthem is, so it's hard to compare (That facial animations the the gameplay trailer thought...)

Come on OP, Not including a Neither or Both option ...?In the Mass Effect section of this forum,it is clearly obvious what most would choose when presented with either Anthem or MEA DLC.It was never a fair fight:p Removing resources from Andromeda to this Anthem (such a stupid name for a game) is not fair fight either. If both projects were independent from each other from the start.I don't see why both can't exist.Especially if we re talking about comparing production for DLC of an already existing game(the tools, resources and assets are already there) vs. The full production of a new I.P. DLC for MEA would cost a tiny fraction anyway so from a logical and financial stand point,it wouldnt be detrimental to the production of Anthem.Plus, people are begging for DLC for MEA.I know I am.It would be a good move to release it.I don't think BW Montreal working on DLC wpuld affect BW Edmonton in any way.

Not even sure why this is an either or option. MEA DLC will likely be well underway (as in a few or all released) before Anthem is even released. Assuming one knows how to budget if they are that strapped for cash, I'm sure they could both or rather all.

Why no 3rd option: "Screw Bioware, I don't buy anything from them ever again" Or 4th option: "They should give me Anthem for free for pre-ordering Andromeda at full price"

It looks like Destiny, Zero Dawn edition. Or that license game, Avatar, based on the same movie. And even Destiny looked more innovative and intresting before its release than Anthem now, it turned out to be such a shallow mess tough. Theres no krogans, no turians, no asari, no quarians. No space travel. Probably not even that much story, personalities or places to explore, especially if it mimics Destiny even more. Just some jackasses in Ironman armors cracking jokes in a pretty jungle, looting and shooting monsters (cause thats so original, isnt it now, we havent had those games a dozen times before). If thats the part you enjoy about bioware games, then go ahead. I enjoyed something completely different. Mass Effect was something quite unique, and it got thrown into hell so EA could have their Destiny clone. Cause apparently Star Wars battlefront wasnt enough for pew pew fans, they just had to have Avatar:Dawn of Destiny edition too. Ive said it before and i say it again. For now, this looks and smells more like a game that EA wanted to make, than Bioware wanted to make. Or maybe its like the novel Animal Farm, the pigs and humans, you look at them now, and you cant make a damn difference anymore.

Boiler plate disclaimer of nothing against people playing what they want to play, not everyone hates open world online MP like I do etc etc etc.
But with all that being said, it saddens me greatly to see Bioware working on this. I couldn't be less interested in Anthem, even if every copy entailed the mandatory injection of concentrated acid into my teeth. This simply isn't what I want from Bioware and anyone kidding themselves that a SP option will save this... Oh, I just don't even have the energy to think of something funny to say.
No wait, here's a good joke actually. Its about this company who used to make really amazing RPGs. I mean, these guys were real trend setters and deservedly built up a fanbase of players whose loyalty was as strong as Steel. So strong that even after the most grievious and consistent letdowns and disappointments due to the demanding backers the company had, married with complacency and an increasing refusal to listen, even after all that the fans hoped and hoped and hoped.
And then one day when they were waiting for news of dlc they had every intention of paying for and supporting, the company walked right past them to a new group of players. And they never looked back. Not out of malice, but fear. Because in the night their faces had changed and now they looked just like their backers and couldn't bear to look their old fans in the eye again.
That one's a real scream...

For anthem, I would say that for the first time in my life, I am not excited for a bioware game. The gameplay and combat looks fine because, well it is the super combat of MEA but made better, so it looks nice.
But that said, it really look like a destiny clone with a more fleshed out story. The problem with that is even if the story is well done, I won't give a fuck about it because its just not my type of game. I bought destiny, but only the year two version with the first 3 big dlc at a reduce price, and even then I did not liked it that much, it was fine but that's it.
The only reason I played Swtor is that even if it is an MMO, it had the bioware classic storytelling, that was what I was looking for and I founded it and I absolutely loved it, I made the 8 story classes in a short amount of time and did the expansion with all the enthusiasm possible. I play it 3 months a year by waiting for more content to be made, in between the moment where I finish it,
But for Anthem, nothing shows me I will love the game, a "better made destiny" is not what I except from Bioware. It might be good and maybe people will love it, but if it does not have the bioware classic storytelling, with dialogue option, romance, companion, moral choices to allow for multiple playthrought, I will probably just wait a year until it gets on sale then pick it up. That is something I cannot do for a bioware game that I have to get on release day.
I will be cautious with that game, for now I am much more hyped for MEA dlc's.

How about a game behind which the entire Bioware fanbase can rally? Maybe a run-and-gun online squad-based shooter with dozens of romance options spanning every sexual proclivity and transgender pronoun? (Okay, hundreds of romance options.) Or an intense, story-driven RPG that doesn't rely on twitch gaming skills and has richly detailed female NPCs with breasts larger than their slulls who kill remorselessly with impossibly large heavy weapons? The future of Bioware depends on the fanbase coming together, everyone!

I am the Pathfinder and that is not even a question. To be perfectly honest, Anthem gameplay smelled of Ubisoft prescripted it's nothing like this in reality gameplay. Just like the Division. I got burned on the Division. Many say "Remember: No Preorders" or "Remember: No Russian". I say... REMEMBER: NO UBISOFT! (Speaking of which, new Assassin's Creed looks like... well, it's in the name, twice. Ass. And not a mighty fine one.) Gimme muh Quarian Ark. Don't remind me of the Division the only good thing about that game was awesome visuals and showing off their new Snowdrop Engine. But to be fair they have been working hard to try to fix it and it's gotten a bit better. I think Bioware could learn from them. Also, would love to see Sloan as a Teammate on the tempest. She's got a lot of potential there

Sadly, your squad would be comprised strictly of rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh.

Anthem, already looks like it is better then Andromeda. We should have learned by now that Bioware trailers int worth s**t, and the actual game on release will be downgraded beyond recognition. Don't be fooled by the EA/Bioware BS again.
