It looks very impressive, but truthfully I'm not really on board with the open world direction they've moved into with previous titles. Just a personal preference. Though I'll freely confess that it's visually stunning.

If Anthem can avoid the sort of problems that The Division had, I'll pre-order the living fuck out of it.
We had 50 people in our clan that enjoyed the hell out of The Division. Then it became apparent that Massive was incapable of fixing the crippling issues that the game has.

Not only do I expect a pretty solid portion of the BioWare fanbase to not care for this, but I expect a good number of people to be actively angered at BioWare for what looks to be a game that isn't even going to pretend to be a RPG like Mass Effect was trying to be a "action RPG", as though BioWare is apparently only allowed to make RPGs.
Personally I'm 100% on board with this game, but then I don't stick to just a single genre.

Looks nice but I have two semi-active mmorpgs to play. One is sub free, the other I can activate when I feel like it. I'm not looking to add a third mmo. If it has SP, I'd likely get it, depending on the gameplay / story which I'll be checking out on Twitch. Otherwise, I'm not keen on it.

Yes. General consensus among my friends is that it stole the show at E3. Everyone I've talked to is hyped for it It is weird how much it matters who one's circle is because mine has been 100%: "What the heck is this? Why does Bioware think anybody wants this from them? Is this even an RPG?" Guess it's because my circle is people who enjoy all manner of games

"Wheeeeeeee! We're blasting stuff in our Iron Man suits CO-OP, BABY!!!!" OMG that is exactly this game so far. There isn't anything else there AT ALL -- they might as well make this the tagline and pay you what they'd pay a marketing team.

Not sure it'll be what fans expect out of a standard bioware game in regards to story, but pretty optimistic none the less. The gameplay were never among ME:As failings, and that'll be the main attraction in a more loot based rpg.

Care about what exactly? A heavily scripted "gameplay" or a trailer shows nothing?
As for the promise of "open world", "action" game, I'm far more interested in RDR2 and assassin's creed origins.

No, because I am paranoid that it's a grinder, and that a casual player like me who tries to keep up, will just end up sinking many hours into doing boring stuff, only to never reach the level of gear when you can do interesting stuff. Also, I do not see the interesting stuff. I don't get attraction of "just exploring" or clearing the daily do-lists or progression. Also, I am afraid that if it is MMO, it will have memorization heavy raids you need to do, that require really complex mechanics. I was never big on those. Tank and spank, some rudimentary positioning, yeah, the complex set up with everyone having to do just the right I-frames, this attack or that attack or we wipe... no. And the leet in MMO always ask for harder and harder content and throw tantrums that things are too easy. Then pugs can't pass raids on story modes, no matter how hard they try.
anyways, raids/dungeons trigger a bunch of fears in me since BnS.

Not only do I expect a pretty solid portion of the BioWare fanbase to not care for this, but I expect a good number of people to be actively angered at BioWare for what looks to be a game that isn't even going to pretend to be a RPG Yeah, you're right, and I am one of them.
In fact, it feels as if Bioware has betrayed me thrice now. When I was in my teens, Bioware was the trusty developer of campy medieval RPGs, which I loved. NWN, Jade Empire, you know. Then someone decided that Mass Effect was a good idea. I played ME1 and ME2 with very little interest, skipped ME3, and for a long time I didn't touch anything BW did.
Then I heard they started working on Star Wars MMORPG, and I was dismayed, but by that point I had lost so much faith in Bioware that I hardly even cared.
Accidentally, I rediscovered my love in BW when I replayed Dragon Age 2 roughly 18 months ago. This inspired me to revisit their other games, as well: DAI and MET. They both turned out to be decent games, and I was willing to give the company another chance. Fine, I thought, maybe what defines Bioware isn't the game mechanics or the setting but the story and the characters.
And then comes Anthem... And I am at loss again.
Though to be honest, I'm not really angry, I'm just very, very disappointed. DA4 was always going to be the next big thing for me, but I would have wanted at least something nice to chew on before that. Like an appetizer. But I'm afraid Anthem will be a total mess. I have zero interest in social gaming (sports games with friends sitting next to me notwithstanding), and if Anthem is stripped of meaningful single player content (NPC interactions, story, romances), there's no way I'm going to be interested.

I voted 'Other'.
To clarify: It doesn't matter if bioware makes a game equivalent to the rick roll song, I will buy it. Because I'm stupid.
Edit: Also, why has nobody made the "Gundammu" connection yet? If anything, this game doesn't just steal the gundam concept, it procreates with it for bables, waits for them to mature and procreates again, just to make sure the percentage of gundam in the game is high enough. I'm all for it though. Human controlled killer robots? yes please.
Dear god! I just thought of this! PLEASE let there be a space section where we fight in 3D against other Gundams!

In fact, it feels as if Bioware has betrayed me thrice now. I don't really understand people who feel this way. I mean, if you don't like the direction Bioware is taking and you don't like Anthem because it's not your type of game, that's fine - everyone's entitled to their preferences. I was bummed when Bioware made TOR instead of KoTOR3, but I didn't take it as a personal affront or anything. I don't recall Bioware ever making a promise where they say they would only ever make one type of game for one group of gamers for all eternity. In fact, I'm sure the devs at Bioware eventually get tired of making the same game over and over again. I don't see the point in blaming them for wanting to branch out and try new things, even if I may not be the target audience for those things. (To be clear, I have no fixed opinion on Anthem on way or the other and will need a lot more information on the game before deciding.)

... In fact, it feels as if Bioware has betrayed me thrice now. ... In reality there is only one thing BioWare owes to any of us, and that is to advertise their games honestly (which by and large I think they have done, in fact they can be obsessive about not committing to anything ahead of launch).
We have no right to expect them to make any particular type of game, the only choice we truly have is to invest in (or not) any game offered for sale.
BioWare I'm sure would like to launch a successful game in Anthem, but its player base for Anthem is not necessarily congruent with the player base from previous BioWare games, and that's fine, there are other games and game studios for many of the folk it doesn't interest.

After having seen the recent trailer, I am curious about it. It may not be an RPG but it looks like it might be to my taste in other ways. I'll keep an eye out for further information about it to see if my interest continues to be engaged by it.

But see, herein lies the kicker. Who exactly are these other studios who make party based RPGs wherein I get to design my own character? I can think of literally 2: Beamdog (mostly remasters of old stuff) and *sometimes* Obsidian. There are a few indie outfits that have made some isometric ones in recent years. It's not a matter of only playing games of this type. It's a matter of Bioware being just about the only outfit in town making games of this type at all. Meanwhile, shooters, MMOs, sandbox games etc. are as abundant as weeds. I can go to every third game studio in existence for those.

I have never been part of the "I won't buy it" crowd because this threat has 0 weight because every pissed off fanboy ever mutters it 500 times a day. It is the gamer equivalent of the sun rising in the east.
That being said, I'm not buying this. If it doesn't have 1) the capacity for me to design my own character, 2) a squad or party of characters that come with me separate from multiplayer friends, and 3) interactive dialog wherein I get to make choices, no money from me.

Then some of those who value games of this type might like to spend less of their time kicking the shit out of BioWare at every turn, so that BioWare don't feel they need to mitigate their financial exposure by making other types of games. Can't have it both ways: - Complain about the type of RPG BioWare make
- Complain because BioWare decide to make something else

I have not been complaining. I have enjoyed every RPG they have ever made. I have leveled criticisms at certain aspects of the games I thought could have been done better because no game is perfect, but I have *never* broken down into "Bioware betrayed me" histrionics.
I am quite pissed off at the meme army who dog-piled Andromeda though (a flawed but perfectly acceptable game).
Also, at the end of the day, what matters is speaking with your wallet. And all the gnashing of internet teeth out there has never succeeded in Bioware not selling enough games to make a tidy profit.
