Bioware owes me nothing.
I owe Bioware nothing.
They release a product I want, then I buy it. If not, I pass.
Call me heartless, undedicated, or what-have-you, so be it. I consume games that interest me. If this developer doesn't produce them, that's cool. Some other developer undoubtedly, eventually will.

If your critical, your 'hating' Abaris, that was pretty much how that line of conversation started. That fans who are giving the game strong critique are doing so because they were predisposed to hate on the game before they even played it. No, I'm not hating. What's that supposed to be anyway? Someone repeating meme after meme to make a point? MEA is average. And that's all there is to it. Tell you what. I hated DAII after I played the demo. I never bought it. But now after finishing MEA and since it was on sale, I thought what the heck. I can't believe how much better this game is in terms of what I expect from Bioware. The story and the characters (modded, so as they not look as shitty as their originals), are so much better even within the first hour. I still hate the combat system, but that's not something I base my judgment on.

I am in my early 30s and even if I were 20 I would not want to play MMOs or MP-only bc introversion. This MMO trend was maybe just starting when I was in college, and I wasn't interested then (at 20) either, but had a college housemate who got sucked into WoW -- we sometimes lost him for days -- luckily he eventually realized he needed to at least temporarily de-install if he was ever going to get into med school. It's good that he got things sorted, though it mostly sounds like he ended up getting addicted. WoW is a game that you could put tons of time into but it wasn't actually required. I should know on account of the fact that while I was in school learning software development I was raiding hardcore on WoW and still managed to balance school, friends, a part time job, and a girlfriend. WoW was basically one night a week which was raid night, and I was one of the best geared tanks on my server. The hardest thing was actually explaining to certain people the idea of "yes I play games on a schedule. We play a game that requires 10-25 people there all working together and work as the same team to make progress every week". Though just not caring for MMOs(or the "open world with drop in multiplayer" that Destiny popularized) is fair enough. Thankfully they have said that Anthem is going to be "single player friendly" but to what that means, we don't really know. He was definitely addicted. I just brought it up because people tend to frame this as Old vs Young, but WoW/MMO first blew up big when I was basically in its target market (underclassman gamer, who played Warcraft 3 sometimes) and I was still not really into having real people in my game world... Some people just aren't drawn to them. If MMORPG or Destiny-style games really do become the standard RPG options left from major companies, I will probably give some a try, but only those that you can complete all or mostly in solo mode, like ESO. The idea of teaming up to do raids is the least appealing thing to me -- I don't want to game on a schedule! I just want to explore, find quests, do them on my own time...

I don't see the logic of feeling abandoned. They are putting out patches. There are VAs in the studio working on the DLC. The assumption here is just so much on the worst scenarios and also implies that all they ever should do is DA and ME.

I mean it's pretty obvious that ME got shafted for this game, it would most likely have been better if Edmonton had made it but they were making this. Then again I've always been more of a DA fan anyway so if DA4 is good I will be happy enough. I might even try this if it has a decent single player mode with a good plot and characters.
So no I don't feel abandoned but I am concerned, Bioware does not have to only ever make single player rpgs but if they continue to be shafted for MP games then well that is in a way abandoning the fans of those games, so we will see.

But do I feel abandoned? Nah. This isn't the last we'll see of Mass Effect.

Yeah, I bought ME:A at full price on release and spent £800 upgrading my rig to do it justice fully determined to hate it. I mean why would I? Mass Effect is my favourite game franchise of all time, the idea that ME:A would be such a damp squib I wouldn't even finish it just didn't enter my mind. What doomed ME:A was low ambition, they gave it neither the time, money or experience required. They should have been shooting for game of the year candidate, instead they pushed it out the door, premature, weak and malformed, they had to know the reception it was going to get, but obviously they calculated they would profit anyway because die hard Mass Effect fans would lap it up. Did Mass Effect haters buy it, probably not as they are haters obviously, who got shat on here? the fans that had faith in the studio and expected more. The bigger question is why you feel you're representative of everyone who happens to have hated ME:A? Just because you say you didn't set out to hate doesn't mean that someone else could not possibly have set out to hate it. Are you saying that the hate others dumped on this game in no way affected your opinion of it? Or, in no way caused you any apprehension that would not have been there if the game had been positively received? Were you blissfully uninfluenced at all by all the memes as you sat down to play the game for the first time? Is your "opinion" of the game formed in some sort completely objective vacuum... because I was influenced. I was made far more apprehensive about buying the game and,as I sat down to play it the first time, I was not really anticipating loving it the way I had anticipated loving TW3 (which had such positive reviews from a whole lot of people). For me, as it turned out, I wound up hating TW3 and enjoying ME:A... because different people can like different things about a game. I'm glad I put my apprehensions aside and bought ME:A in spite of everything I had been reading here. Could Bioware have produced a better game if they had applied even more resources to it... probably yes. Would the public have received it well and gone wow? I don't think so... not even if they game they had of delivered was damned near perfect. Why do I say that... because most of them couldn't find anything good to say about ME:A despite it being not so bad a game and it does have many positives to it. While you may not enjoy it as much as I do... It's still a better game than it was made out to be by many of the previews, the metascores, and many of the reviews. Very true: Because I remember a LOT of people at BSN Prime and many of them are also here complaining about the title, Mass Effect: Andromeda. Then they bitched about the first shots of Peebee and made fun of her appearance and said she looked Shrek. Then they bitched about how all the female characters looked "ugly". Then griped that wasn't enough romance. Then whined that was too much romance. Then it's was typical anti-LGBT bullshit. Then they complained about the voice actors not being good. Then they complained about how the game was marketed. Then they whined when BioWare wouldn't tell them if had MP or not. Then they raged against the trailers all being making of/behind the scenes stuff. Then they whined about all the typical SJW and political correctness nonsense. Then they griped that you couldn't play as evil bastard. Then they complained about the feminists "ruining the game's women". Then they yelled about the Ryder twins being "too young". Then they created a shit storm about the whole going to another galaxy breaking the lore of the ME Universe. The knives were out for ME:A for worthless stupid reason, and all of valid constructive criticism was drowned out by bunch of fucking useless angry entitled hardcore gamer trolls that have pretty much ruined all of gaming culture.

Bioware has been chasing a different demographic since ME2. Yup. I started feeling abandoned years ago. This is just the final "screw you" to the audience. This perspective of personalizing a company that makes and sells computer games puzzles me. I mean they're going for a style of game, sure, but if they find that consumer base dwindling or wanting, they definitely should experiment with other ideas. It's about trying to make something fun and profitable, not catering to a particular taste or desire at all expense. Golly.

Abandoned... feels like an extreme sentiment.
The most I can say is that on face value Anthem was obviously provided with more concern and effort than ME:A from what we can see.

I don't feel abandoned nor betrayed, I don't hold it on bioware to only make DA, ME, or strictly RPG games.
I also expected them to experiment(comes with branching out into multiple studios, the unfortunate thing is one franchise could get shafted depending on various scenarios), this isn't the same studio as ten years past, it's a new staff, new ideas, new direction, etc etc.
That said, I'm looking forward to Anthem and have nothing vs it, if it succeeds it does what destiny and the division couldn't do, it's a very lucrative market if they make this game work, I don't blame them at all for trying and as I said earlier, their not obligated to only make RPGs, DA, ME, etc etc cause honestly if I was a dev I'd say fuck that, sounds boring being held to do what a fan base wants. People don't do game development to do what others want, it's all about making art, something that appeals to others and if it doesn't then it doesn't.

Looking at the Anthem gameplay reveal again, it's hard to tell where the in-game VA's end and the fake squad chat begins. I don't feel so much a sense of abandonment as annoyance that this world Anthem sets up is squandered on interaction with live people, the worst kind of people there is.what? you mean you don t like people wishing you online cancer? it s great! NOT!!! Man i dislike these types of games It's unfortunate there are people like that, but that's why there's a mute feature in most games and honestly online play is very fun and it's positives outweigh the negatives unless one really isn't a multiplayer gamer, but hey, that's why there's options in games.

Not really, I have the game, it's getting fixed. I am more dissapointed about the downgrade it suffered, MEA once could have had the production value of Anthem, at least for now.

That space-lemming who dropped no loot after walking face first into an explosion isn't worth my ammunition or attention. Crawl back into the dark space of fading brand recognition, squid. Well, well well my dear BioKroitz, good luck with your Destiny2 (Mixed with Iron Man) version of money-gouging, endless repetitive missions to get a 0.00001% for a decent drop, in-game transactions that are dangerously close to p2w. And off course, the huge down-grade from what you saw on the preview to make this copycat of a game fit to multi platforms. That theoretical downgrade will be a generation ahead of the failed "superfriends in space" reunion special. And I have you known that RNGesus will smile upon me and all who embrace the next step - no the next leap - in BioWare gaming history. But not you. A rain of premium lootcrates filled with commons will be your punishment.

The only Co-op I have ever been interested is the type that has my sister's ass in the seat next to me. Not with strangers thousands miles away telling me how they slept with my mom, or that I need to go back into the kitchen and make em a sandwich.
I do RPGS, I do stories, and PVE, and plots and quests. I do not do raids and PVP and cash-cow micro transactions.

Oh shit I didn't even think about how annoying it would be to be a female player in co-op. MP missions that force you to team up with random men? and talk to them? This is what I mean when I say that I just don't want real people in my game spaces, period. I deal with enough harassment and condescension from male strangers in my real life. I don't need to pay for the privilege...
