Yes, I feel a bit abandoned as a Mass Effect fan. This is a beloved franchise. It has such a longstanding, hardcore fandom. If you aren't going to do it right, especially so that your primary team can make a game that's the antithesis of what Mass Effect was, maybe just don't do it at all and let Shepard and co. be the last thing we remember.But... they gotta milk the IP, they can't just let it go to waste! So many people out there willing to just throw money on anything with a ME title on it.
Yeah even the people who disliked the game before it came bought it anyway

I mean I don't feel personally abandoned, that ship sailed with ME3.
But I can't help but feel that MEA was abandoned

Definitely guilty -- preordered. I mean, I wish I hadn't paid full price, but I did have fun playing the game. It is just is painful to see the potential in it that it never lived up to because of production problems that could have been avoided, and then EA's refusal to delay an unfinished game. Meanwhile, BW was making this (so far looks) boring and too familiar Anthem game.

Yeah even the people who disliked the game before it came bought it anyway Well, I only bought it on release (actually, preordered) because I found the 30% off sale in time.
But honestly? I'd rather pay more for better games than pay less on mediocre ones.
That's the problem there people who saw the reviews and the gameplay videos bought it anyway regardless of the price drop. If you wanted to make a statement to ea then vote with your wallet. Then again if me a sold poorly it would've meant the end of the franchise which would please some people here I believe

Abandoned. Not really. I already shipped off elsewhere after ME3, in the ME world of my own making (fanfic). My focus shifted to DA since then, the other worthwhile franchise. I bought Andro because I had no idea if DA4 will be affected (I don't want it to be) by Andro, not because I'm genuinely interested in it / supportive. After playing Andro, my view of it is; it's not ME. ME ended with ME3.

Honestly I think most of us get that ME is nostalgic and kind of over because Shepard was such a huge part of it, and that reboots rarely live up to the originals, in movies or in games -- however, if Anthem had been revealed to be a whole new *story-driven action-RPG franchise* (with online co-op OPTIONAL at NO DETRIMENT to the story experience) that could attract the old ME base and more, then I don't think people would be feeling as disregarded (I do think that's a better word than abandoned). I think it's not just how much better Anthem looks, but also the kind of game it is -- one that some ME fans will like, but only because they ALSO like that very different kind of game, not because it offers a similar gaming experience. It's like they not only abandoned the Mass Effect IP to an inexperienced (if passionate) team, but then decided that they didn't even care about making a game friendly to the "Mass Effect player" at all -- the kind of player who really loves that unique style of gameplay -- and they were the only company even doing something like that. It's like we either get exploratory RPGs like Bethesda games with soulless stories or narrative-driven shooters, and ME was special in that it bridged those two worlds (better imho than DA does that -- at least for me -- I actually felt genuinely emotional playing some scenes in ME and I have never felt that way playing DA or any other RPG).

I dont know? Is it unreasonable to pray now to some omnipotent being coming and removing Anthem (and maybe Witcher 3, so people can stop mentioning that game here) from the universal timeline and existance?

I don't feel abandoned, I just felt EA or Bioware should have put this team on Andromeda from the jump. What i'm seeing in Anthem could have easily been restructured as Andromeda for a fresh new start.
My only concern now is that it may be a looong time before we get another ME game being that the team that made Andromeda has been disbanded and the team that made the OT is working on Anthem and when Anthem is done, i'm sure the team is going to take a break.
If and when another ME game is created, i would like this team handling Anthem to take a crack at it tho..

Nah. The reveal footage from Anthem is what it is; reveal footage. Designed to specifically show the scope of the endeavor and what they're aiming for. I hope, for those who buy it, it looks every bit as good as that when it's released but it may not. That happens sometimes.
In Andromeda's case I think BioWare and the Edmonton studio have put effort, resources and time into fixing the problems that were brought up when it was released...though I've never but had anything but hella fun with it since it dropped.
So, no, I definitely don't feel "betrayed", though I can understand why some might have that reaction.

To me, Mass Effect ended the moment Captain Anderson died on my shoulders atop the Citadel and the Reapers were destroyed -- in my mind, space-kid & Andromeda never happened.
So I'm actually ok with Bioware moving on to a new action, shooter IP.
My heart is with Dragon Age; as long as the next Dragon Age is on-par with the quality I saw in the Anthem trailer I will be satisfied.
If I don't get another Dragon Age or if the next one is made in the same vein as Andromeda...then, I will feel 'abandoned'.

It would have been better for Bioware to have cancelled Andromeda than to release it in the shape it was in. They cheated one of the most devoted fan base in a very bad way. I, for one, will not touch Anthem or any future Bioware games or EA games if I can help it. Anthem looks like a Titan Fall copy. I have Titan Fall. Haven't played it. Probably never will. Got the Division for free with my video card. Played 2 hours, never touched it again. Heard from my destiny playing friend. He doesn't recommend me ever getting into that crap.
1st sin: Releasing Andromeda 2nd sin: putting ME on hold, effectively killing update 3rd sin: showing off a shiny new game to shove it in our face
That is EA's strategy for building loyalty. Feel that warmth swelling up inside?

Maybe if they shove enough ME easter eggs and references into Anthem they can get ME fans to buy it and then call it a "ME spiritual successor" and shaft MEA sequel, not me tho - not getting Anthem even if they pay me to play it.

I imagine ME-related easter eggs in Anthem would go over pretty well. The fandom would engage in lively discussions, and some might take the initiative and send long letters of feedback to the developers made of magazine cutouts and obscene pictograms.

Looking at the Anthem gameplay reveal again, it's hard to tell where the in-game VA's end and the fake squad chat begins. I don't feel so much a sense of abandonment as annoyance that this world Anthem sets up is squandered on interaction with live people, the worst kind of people there is.what? you mean you don t like people wishing you online cancer? it s great! NOT!!! Man i dislike these types of games

More frustrated if ME has been put into the freezer whilst they spends their time on what seems to be a useless generic mmo.

No, considering the fact that its been pushed already to Fall 2018 and it might even get pushed to early/Spring 2019. ME3 and DAI both had a year give or take of support after initial release, I would assume the same for DA2 and ME2. It's still to early to judge what my emotions are, because BioWare forcing 4 player co-op now down our throats and Destiny like loot doesn't appeal to me and what I want out of a BioWare game. I get trying something new from a BioWare perspective, but we still got a ways to go so I dunno.

Again I will say, if they wanted a Destiny/Division clone, why not set it in the ME universe?
There are no reasons why we can't have different types of games in the same IP.
I am not buying Anthem, or any other EA or Bioware game again, unless it's in the ME IP that I love.

I've come to terms with Bioware's new "direction", I just want the DA4 that I've been dreaming of before they go over to the dark side completely.

Not "abandoned". I doubt the devs - who are awesome - intend to leave fans in the cold.
I do feel salty, though. Anthem stroke me as visually beautiful, but essentially soulless. My reaction was along the lines of "Andromeda could have looked like THAT, but instead they spent their time and resources and expertise in this MMOish bullshit that was clearly commisioned by EA because "ONLINE" and "DRM" and "NO BUDGET FOR VA OR WRITERS"?
Fuck this!"
So yeah, I'm kinda pissed.
Honestly, unless they -and by they I mean the Evil Overlords ofEA themselves - go public and spell it out "We're working on Andromeda DLC, the franchise is not on ice and you'llhear news about the follow up to Andromeda in the not too distant future", I'm pretty much done.
Andromeda radio-silence was crap, the so-called "marketing campaign" led people by their noses for at least 3 years "we can't wait to show you more in six months", yada, yada, yada, and the fans stuck around. The game shipped full of tired faces, and the fans stuck around. The reports of it being on ice disappointed a lot of us, but the fans are sticking around.
And the prize is "here, MMO BS no one asked for".
Yeh,I'm pretty salty.

Why is everyone so dramatic these days? Ffs.
On another note: I'll probably play the shit out of Anthem.

I never feel abandoned by something as trivial as a game company. I'm a consumer and if the next product they publish isn't to my liking, I won't buy it. As simple as with any other product.
In this case, and as a journalist, this article, as opposed to the kotaku one, really is only built on anecdotal evidence. Taking random quotes from random posters isn't doing the job. It's an opinion piece, based only on opinion. Also the comparisons of the visuals between MEA and Anthem doesn't say anything. Many of us will remember the leaked footage from early 2016 where MEA seemed to be on the same level as Anthem. It has become one of the MEA memes. One of the better ones, since it really showed that visuals regressed. Who's to say, the same won't happen with Anthem? E3 is the place to show off. That's a presentation, not the game as it will hit the shelves in almost two years.

That's why they always look amazing.
