Bioware has been chasing a different demographic since ME2. I might argue since ME1. ME2 was the beginning for me, it was obvious that Biaware was no longer interested in making RPG's.

What does quality have to do with a game being RPG? ME2 is not in the same class as DAO if you compare them as RPG's. Isn't it? For me it was. It had all the elements I like when playing RPGs. Character interactions, character stories, exploration. I have a pretty broad taste when it comes to RPG and I'm not anal about defining what makes an RPG. Right before I played DAO I played NWN2 by Obsidian. I nejoyed it just as much. Where I draw the line is indeed something like Andromeda, which is something like an action game with rudimentary RPG elements inserted.

I cannot feel cheated because I don't consider myself committed to anyone. I play for the sake of playing therefore if you make a game that I like I will buy it, otherwise I'll keep my money. Customer doesn't equal fan and I am on this forum because I like the people here, not because I consider myself "a loyal BW fan" even if they did a lot game that I liked.
Having saying that, about the ME:A/Anthem controversy. We cannot say for sure. People talk for what they see and of course they made a lot of assumptions. Who told you that weren't the people from the so called "A-team" that didn't feel like working on a ME title anymore and that wanted to start working on something totally new? Who can say that what happened wasn't just a miscalculation from EA? Maybe they thought that the so called "C-team" was skilled enough to release a game that was supposed to be just a spin off from the main series, and that in order to write "a new story which happened to be set on the same ME universe" they didn't need to bring the old staff on board. Of course, like someone wrote, maybe it was just greed, and that they tried to milk the franchise while they were already undersized and therefore it backfired.
However.. I will be sure that the same thing would happen even if they didn't release Andromeda. In that case you would be hearing people claiming "Betrayal! Rather than giving us a new ME game they are working on this one!". At least they gave us a ME game, for better or worse. People would like their favorite artists to continue doing forever the things they loved, but sometimes they should just learn to accept that people (and companies) sometimes just move on.

Yeah, I kind of do. But BioWare won't be getting any of my money or interest for this new game. Just isn't my type of game.

EA is the fast food of gaming. You know, they turned into that. I remember a time when the label EA was a recommendation for certain games. Such as their old F1 challenge from 2002. Which is still the standard for many people looking for a demanding Formula 1 game. Heavily modded by now of course. But the physics still stand the test of time for their largest parts.

Abandoned? Why is everyone so dramatic these days? Ffs. On another note: I'll probably play the shit out of Anthem. You just like going against the grain. Its likely that the moment teeny boppers start playing the shit out of Anthem you'll quit because it's popular. And then list off on all the reasons why you think it really is a Mass Effect rip off and a waste of resources. You might as well just join the rest of us now Psychey none of us are in danger of ever being popular soon, not even you. We're the safe bet.

Yes, I feel a bit abandoned as a Mass Effect fan. This is a beloved franchise. It has such a longstanding, hardcore fandom. If you aren't going to do it right, especially so that your primary team can make a game that's the antithesis of what Mass Effect was, maybe just don't do it at all and let Shepard and co. be the last thing we remember. I'm with you on this. It's like when you have a 3 course meal that is nigh on perfection, it wasn't all amazing, but the overall feeling you had after it was fullness, aglow with contentment. Then you get served a slightly lumpy custard with a bug flipping about in it's curdled mess, sure...it's edible, but all memory of that delicious meal has been pretty much erased, all that will stick in your mind is that fucking bug riddled custard.

So people are feeling abandoned by BioWare after acting like spoiled brats after Mass Effect 3 and how the forums at BioWare were overrun by a childish segment calling for firings, the company to be dissolved, people to be blacklisted, and other wishes to harm their careers. Now that team releases a new game is announced which gave them free reign to create a new IP and they feel abandoned. In some ways BioWare is just treating the "Mass Effect true fans" the same way they were treated. If you don't like it, don't buy their games and move on and support a developer that makes the games you enjoy. BioWare is moving on and you should too. Spoiled brats. Ok Gordon Gecko.

Mass Effect was effectively over once the controversy with ME3 and its ending happened. Also, you cannot bring back the quality of the franchise when the ones who made it happen in the first place are no longer working on it. I think everyone knew it wouldn't be the same since ME3, but people still dared to hope. With all this happening now...those hopes are getting torn apart piece by piece.

BioWare games have meant a lot to me over the last few years, and they quickly became my favourite devs. I devoured all 3 ME games and DA games, playing them over an over again, and couldn't wait for MEA.
It was good, I enjoyed it, but the revelations in the Kotaku article (if true) have left me feeling really sad tbh...and less enthusiastic about posting here too.
I feel so sorry for those in BioWare who worked so hard to save the game despite the fuck ups of their bosses, and honestly I resent those who ignored ME for their own pet projects. I wonder, do they really have so little respect for the franchise? Why? It's rather arrogant as the trilogy was, as a whole, fantastic.

Not "abandoned". I doubt the devs - who are awesome - intend to leave fans in the cold. I do feel salty, though. Anthem stroke me as visually beautiful, but essentially soulless. My reaction was along the lines of "Andromeda could have looked like THAT, but instead they spent their time and resources and expertise in this MMOish bullshit that was clearly commisioned by EA because "ONLINE" and "DRM" and "NO BUDGET FOR VA OR WRITERS"? I don't know about VA, but there are quite a few writers working on Anthem, some of them undisputedly from BioWare's A list like Mary Kirby. Yeah David Gaider worked on it too so I expect a tsundere character in there somewhere. That said, Left 4 Dead 2 also has a single player story mode where the characters talk. I guess that required some writing.

To be honest I feel more used and taken advantage of just because I like the series of Mass Effect to be honest. The stark reality is that there is a huge difference not just in polish, but in the art design as well.

Closing the forums, messing the opportunities in the game completely, have a cliffhanger ending, left every major question open, promise not even a single dlc nor a sequel to long awaited game... I just don't feel abandoned I feel robbed.
Sorry my english.

Mass Effect took a shot for Anthem.
"Live long" said Mass Effect before bleeding to death.
"Live service" said Anthem flying away with a jetpack.
"well shit" said the Inquisitor.
stay tuned for more episodes of We Love Drama.
