Eh, Anthem just looks like a worse video game than MEA to me, so I don't really feel any betrayal. Just disappointment, because I expect Bioware games to be my bankers.

It just feels to me like BioWare is copying everyone else. It's kind'a like when a kid comes to second grade with a new phrase, and everyone else jumps on board. I just feel like a geek who's friend has suddenly become popular by saying a phrase which then vaulted him to the cool table.
You feel glad for him that he got invited, but then you have nobody to talk to.

Abandoned ? Hard to say. I think the problem is that MEA was abandoned on pre-development stage. Most of the people who work on MET, who got a heart and soul for this series been assigned to Anthem, so their replacement didn't really have any emotional connection to it. Casey for example - just go back in time, read all his twitts and look at his pictures - this guy was personally connected with this series - so in my opinion I feel more abandoned by the fathers of the series, by the people who share the same vision. Who knows, maybe Anthem will be another great BioWare success; but I feel disappointed cause I got the feeling that with A-Team involved in MEA we will be now discussing GOTY awards for MEA, not possibility that ME is finished.

The multiplayer hate here is real! I've got a group of friends i play with so i got no problem with multiplayer. As for Anthem it looks promising so i'm looking forward to it! I don't feel abandoned because of MEA since i didn't buy it nor do i intend to. Mass Effect ended for me with ME3.

Not reading the article because I'm boycotting the media... whose motivations for a long time now have been to stir up trouble and garner clicks for themselves. I absolutely don't begrudge Bioware for moving into a different area of development. Their former RPG fans are clearly not going to allow them to make a living doing what they've done well for the last couple of decades and they need to feed their families just like everyone else. I really wish them the best in their endeavor and will simply assess whether or not it's a game that interests me only after it is released. I have absolutely no intention of following all the negativity on these forums down that path again with this new game.

But don't expect the usual Bioware fan to share your sentiment. I don't like MP at all. I don't like preteens screaming abuse into their mics as I experiencd with GTAV and all my friends aren't into MP either. What many of us expect from Bioware games is story and character interaction. If I were into shooters or so called online experiences I would go looking for companies who are doing these kinds of games for decades. Not for a company tacking on multiplayer on all their recent games to change an additional dime on the microtransaction train, while all the while only presenting simple horde modes and call it a day.

I was just kinda shocked to see how many were disliking it, then again you guys are the vocal minority. It's far too early to doom the game since there is yet much to be shown.

EA is like a fast food restaurant. RPG's are the opposite. I am more astound it took EA this long to dissuade Bioware in making RPG's. Churning out "the same" like anybody else = EA to a T. Frankly that is what most people want "sameness" under the banner of diversity, well they achieved it.

This reply comes off as very defensive. No one is attacking you by liking MP and if you think MP games are only played by a bunch of pre-teens screaming abuse only, then you are very wrong. It really depends on the game you're talking about.Yes, GTAV and COD tend to have young audiences. My 11 yo nephew likes those.Sure. But if you look at other games like Battlefield whose online modes are more tactical and complex or Destiny which overall has a great community then you would see a different audience.E.g. I am 26 and I am usually the youngest of the group when playing Destiny. The others range from early 30s to even 50s in age. Anthem wants to kinda be like Destiny but with a unique Bioware touch,so naturally I expect maturity from the game and the audience it will attract.Hopefully, it will be that way.

Almost every MP game nowadays has the feature to mute people. Mute them all you like. They and their playing preferences and style are still there, even if you don't hear them. I'm not interested to go online and meet people I wouldn't want to meet in real life. That's why I confine my online experiences to games that don't attract this kind of audience.

A lot of people in here will hate Anthem, just because in their opinion BW sacrifice ME series by taking their best people away to make Anthem happen. Slightly I agree with them. And I don't care I am in minority - except BF series I don't play MP. Just prefer SP story games.

It's not to take away from anyone else's enjoyment of certain games, it's just that it should come to noone's surprise that fans of a RPG producing company usually aren't on their knees when they announce something like a competitive online shooter. They already said it wouldn't be an RPG.

I don't blame them for that and I'm certainly not constructing a melodrama over it. If a game doesn't interest me, I don't buy it. Simple as that. They produced quite a lot of games that didn't interest me at all in the past. It's quite simple really, if they come up with something I feel positive about, I will buy it again. No need to go all doom and gloom over it. Even more so since I'm not in love with them. They're just developers of entertainment products. There are other companies to go in the meantime.

They already said it wouldn't be an RPG. I totally understand why people are bummed.I do and I agree for the most part.I just feel the negativity is a bit too much for a game that isn't even out there yet. It 's like some eho used to say "Don't criticize Andromeda too much!Support Bioware !blah blah etc." are the first to abandon the company they staunchly defended 2 months ago.Anyway. I may play some MP but believe me I am not a MP person, certainly not a very social one either. But MP is not bad as some make it out to be.If u choose the right game and right people to play with, the experience can be amazing. Sometimes the sense of accomplishment coming from coordinated teamwork is great. I mean, it is so ironic that the negative comments against MP are expressed on a social platform that is visited everyday by the same people who spend time engaging with others. Yet playing with them online is somehow hybris.

They're not our friends, lovers or deserving of any other emotional connotation. They're producers and the customer likes what they're producing or they don't. It's the positive and negative fanboyism that really irks me. It drowns out many otherwise constructive criticism.

He didn't quote the unofficial forums. It's not "salty" enough. Did I use the word in the right context? What is r/Mass Effect? Reddit? Who cares? Tumblr? Who cares? This is the place for all your definitive answers. Shoot. I'm joking of course, but not about the unofficial forums! Dang it.

I can't honestly say we've been abandoned, but it sure feels that way sometimes. Perhaps disregarded. That's EA's way of showing love. See Maxis, Pandemic, etc.

They're behaving like somehow who thought they had friends but then they kept turning around and caught those friends holding up knives ready to plunge them into their backs... so, they've gone off to make newer, truer friends. Both statements are incredible stupid. I for one can't remember having a beer and a friendly chat with any Bioware developer or EA suit. They are companies producing entertainment software. They're not our friends, lovers or deserving of any other emotional connotation. They're producers and the customer likes what they're producing or they don't. It's the positive and negative fanboyism that really irks me. It drowns out many otherwise constructive criticism. Sorry to burst your depersonalization defense for treating them horribly; but companies are comprised of actual people.

No... Bioware made games that I enjoyed a great deal and now they focusing more on trying to appeal the Destiny group. I get that thier is more money to be made making that kind of game and that we are nothing more than money to them. But this isn't about thinking Bioware is a friend or lover but as a fan of their products. When they give the product I like the shafted for something I have no interest in it's going to annoy me.

yes, they replaced everything that was MEA with Anthem, facebok, twitter, news, etc
MEA was bad and EA and Bioware want to move on ,
Anthem will be good, they invest ressources in it, makes sense
