My suggestion is they buff the movement speed while you're locked-in. That way you can still back off at a decent rate while being surrounded, and still have a chance to outskill other players.
Increasing the movement speed while you're locked on doesn't do anything if it also applies to the people you're fighting, and it does nothing to lessen the fundamental issue.
Having to point your camera in the blocking direction while focusing on the (1) incoming QTE attacks on the HUD? On paper I would agree that it's a flaw, but in practice I think they've done the best they could've achieved (2) with controllers in mind.
(1) QTEs aren't required, good consistent animations are.
(2) Found the problem.
(1) QTEs or no QTEs doesn't matter, that's besides the point.
Point is, having to point your camera in 4 different directions every 0.5s is motion sickness inducing and frankly looks like a cheap gimmick. This is a normie game they're trying to market as eSport. They need reliable mechanics and what they have works. Could be better, but it's not nearly as game-breaking as you're trying to tell here

It would decrease the speed gap between sprinting and locked-on movement and prevent more flanking scenarios. Also would let you back off even further in a 1v2/1v3 when everyone is stuck in their attack animation.

Fair point, but it's still just something to add in to try to lessen the impact of the fundamental issue here.

I'm not seeing an issue here. The game isn't to your taste, that's fine. Now how about you just leave it at that? You're arguing why one game is better than the other, when both games are completely different. That's like comparing Call of Duty to League of Legends.
Everyone you meet has a part to play in your story. And while some may take a chapter, others a paragraph, and most will be no more than scribbled notes in the margins, someday, you'll meet someone who will become so integral to your life, you'll put their name in the title. - Beau Taplin
That game theory video was terrible. Here's an in depth of the Vikings:
I would probably pick the knights more often than not. Rigorous training, best gear and horses. Without cavalry, I'd go with Vikings based on what they actually accomplished historically.
Had a reasonably fun time with the open beta, but not enough to make me want to shell out 60 euros.
Curious if the highest level of play will be a blast to watch or if balance issues or other troubles will ruin things.
I kinda feel the same, but mostly cause I am not sure if I will be able to get that far without wasting 50 euros onto a controller that I have no need for any other game. For me it'd be around 90 euros for both. Bit too steep, especially as most of my friends will not be playing the game.
I find the "high" level of play really entertaining, I am not sure how high this is, but the reaction times and moves on these guys are pretty fun to watch. It is a long video, but the first fight alone showcases it quite well.
Oh I almost had forgotten the Ubisoft+EA pricing standards. 60 euros, nooooope, nope nope. 60 euros for a game without actually proper singleplayer experience that is also online only. That is way too much, if I wanted to pay ludicrous amounts for games, I'd be a console gamer
Fun game though, but no way is it worth more than around 45 euros.
Played a few hours of the beta. Not awful but not really my thing. The stickiness of the lock-on combined with the restrictiveness of the combat system turned me off of the game. However, this popped up in my subscriptions on youtube and I figured it would be of interest to some of you in this thread.
