Faces were a challenge, dusk may have been tricky, particularly with multiple planets.
Not through ability (I'm sure they could do it) but more priorities and resources.

Honestly, would not even try that on a PC tell I have a good HDR Monitor. When I'm one Havall that pretty muck like a dusk planet and my monitor does not have a good enough Contrast Ratio.

Would be cool from what we hear of some fo the planets, but not likely. We learn that Aya has a night cycle with beautiful stars, and Elaaden's sun doesn't set, but when an eclipse happens on rare occasions, it's nighttime for days.

I've yet to see any Bioware game having a dynamic day/night cycle. Frankly, I think it's not a priority for their kinds of games. I would say, creating a dynamic NPC environment would come before that. Such as the outposts you're founding actually coming alive so as there's an incentive to visit them off and on to see what's happening. But I'm not holding my breath for that one either.

Judging by how the big reveal for BF1 this week was "night maps", I'm guessing this is a stretch for Frostbite and EAware

Possible, most certainly.
Whether they'll do it however, is also a certain no.

I doubt they'll have a day/night cycle for their SP games. I think the most we'd get was something like DA:2, where you could decide whether it was day or night when picking the zone.
However, I don't see how they could get away with not having one in Anthem.

I don't see that being added to MEA, but it'd be awesome if they added it to MEA2.

I noticed in MEA and Inquisition that when the story goes forward, the sky is swapped out. Like Crestwood from Day to night. Why not mod this ability, so that I can swap out Aya's sky with Elaaden's for variety?
Would it be possible? I don't know how the sky texture is worked out, so maybe the tools won't allow for it. Maybe someone can ask the frosty tools creator this question . . . Changing the sky would add so much subtle differences, like Havarl getting brighter, it would be fun to play with and see the changes.

It's swapping out everything, lights, shadows, reflections. In short, creating a whole new environment.

Yeah, the shading, etc. I wondered if that might make things more complicated for modders. It seems like a really easy thing to implement on paper, so to speak. But not if everything has to be tweaked to match the sky. Ugh.
In Inquisition, it was cool to change things in the story, in Jaws for example and get almost a new area, it felt so different after day turned to night. It really helps to keep things from becoming stale, so I always wondered why modders hadn't done this type of thing. Now I get it.

As for day-night cycle for ME:A. Technologically it is possible, however I doubt Bioware is willing to put time and effort on it as they have greater priorities. Maybe in future sequel.

it depends on the engine
it would look really cool day night cycle in other planets
it's not impossible to do, some games have it
in the witcher 2 and 3 looks beautiful

I can't imagine it being impossible. Motherlovin' GTA and Fallout have it. I really do love being able to see the time of day change, though I'll admit that I wish that we could have it change more in real time than compressed game time (dunno if it's at all feasible but one can dream).

They have a lot of things Bioware games don't have when it comes to immersive worlds. That's obviously not Bioware's priority. With MEA it should have been however, since the whole game is about incredibly powerful terraforming machines. I'm not talking about a dynamic day/night cycle here. It would have sufficed to observe change on returning to these planets. Sort of a Crestwood change in DAI after closing the rift. A sense of real achievement this game lacks in my opinion. The real fundamental flaw of it. Creating static outposts with static NPCs doesn't cut it as don't all the people telling you it takes time. No reason to revisit other than grinding a few additional side quests.

I like day and night cycles in games, it gives it a more realistic and interesting aspect. I can't see it for a game like mea however, just don't fit imo but otherwise most real open world games should all have it.

It is possible especially since now Dice has done the work to get into BF, but I highly doubt it. There is only so much you can put into a game before it starts to bog down under the weight of what is in it and I would think having to have systems to accommodate a day/night cycle might be too much for the lesser powerful hardware. The game can struggle already with what it does and adding more dynamic content I think might not be possible. If it was in the cards from the very beginning I would have a better opinion of it because that means other areas could be tweaked to support something like this, but at the game stands I think unlikely would be extremely optimistic.

Technologically it is possible, however I doubt Bioware is willing to put time and effort on it as they have greater priorities. Maybe in future sequel. Exactly. For Anthem, yes, but for Mass Effect due to the number of worlds I think the answer is no. But this is about priorities and resources, not that it isn't possible.

It would always be nighttime in the game, you would only get to see everything if you could play at different times of the day.
