Would ME work as an RTS? I don't think it's a horrible idea, but I wonder how it would actually work. Also, would it appeal to the audience who plays ME games? That would actually be the question. Is there a market for it? I'm not into RTS. If there were any branching out, I'd do an RPG set around the First Contact War. If well written (always the issue, right?), it could be interesting, showing us how humanity was introduced to galactic society. I want a first contact scenario that is believable. I want to see how humanity reacts and eventually deals with the very first species outside of Earth. I want to see how it devolved into open warfare with the Turians. I want to see the campaign end with a peace accord. I want a lot.

Mass Effect: The Telltale Series. And here I thought there is no idea that'd make me "Fuck nope." I concur. I loved the first season of the Walking Dead series. After that, it's been few hits and a whole lot of misses.

Anyway, I'd love to see how we avoided becoming a client race for the turians, because I'm sure that was the intention.

Ever since I read the codex entries for the FCW, I had hoped there would be a space combat game like Wing Commander (for those who remember it) that puts you as a fighter pilot on an Alliance character. But I don't think that genre sells well anymore. To be clear not a game about FCW, just on board an Alliance carrier.
A turn based strategy game like XCOM/XCOM2 would be pretty amazing. Could even be set on Earth during the events of ME3. I'd play that.

A spin off would be interesting. I wouldn't be interested in an RTS, but I imagine lots of gamers would enjoy that.

I think it would be kinda cool to see them go for something similar in style to how Obsidian did Alpha Protocol. Refine the combat and stealth a bit and you'd be good.

With everything being up in the air and all the uncertainty with what bioware and EA plan to do with the franchise would it be good for the franchise to have spinoffs in other genres such as an RTS? I think it could keep the franchise fresh and even breathe new life into it while giving us a fresh perspective and even expanding the ME universe. For example I think an RTS that takes place during the same time as the trilogy fleshing out those events more. For example we could participate in parts of the reaper war we only heard about second hand (such as the turians and krogan having the reapers bogged down in a nasty ground war on Irune). What do some of you think about a Mass Effect spinoff? Of course I still think the rpgs are the bread and butter of the franchise but spinoffs could be healthy for it. All those romance sim spin-offs. Bioware would earn a fortune.

I'm a huge RTS fan, and there really hasn't been a good one since starcraft2. I would love an in depth mass effect RTS, something based on colonizing planets in andromeda would be perfect for that genre.

They are such an insignificant and small part of their games it is really annoying when people act like they over shadow the rest of the game. Not to mention they are optional content.

It's really a questionable ordeal. While I see romance as a small part of the game and I find it unnecessary, go to the Anthem forums and see how much romance is asked for, it's obnoxiously important to a lot of people in bioware games. So no surprise some would joke about dating sims if you ask me.

Just look at this forum, how often they're the topic of conversations, so yeah if Bioware made a dating sim I wouldn't be surprised if it would get them a lot of money. And for the record, I didn't say that Bioware's games were dating sims I said that if they made dating sims they would probably get a lot of money, because a lot of people seem to play their games only for the romance content.

As for myself I see them as a useful way of personalizing the story a bit more and sometimes can lead to character development but I never pursue them in game to just for the sake of doing them it has to make sense for my character. In MEA I havn't even completed any of the romance arcs yet. In the trilogy I would pick one (the one that made sense for that particular version of Shepard) and stuck with them through the trilogy and in the DA games I doubt I even bothered with them any more than maybe 1/3 of my playthroughs (that is counting all of the playthroughs of the three games combined). I just don't see them as necessary but a useful addition for roleplaying at times.

I am sure there is a segment of the base but it wouldn't garner the interest a regular game does. It is also not the best overall impression they want to make with their franchises if a spinoff is a dating sim not with all the different genres they could experiment with. Besides I think a spinoff game in another genre wouldn't even be made by bioware it would be made by another developer in the EA corporate umbrella.

Yes. Having a space dog fight game or a strategy rpg like xcom would be the way to go. Or even making a top down shooter rpg as well.

I like the idea of a RTS game. Maybe something during the Contact War. Also, keep a story with character creation and decisions between missions. And I can see a spin-off game just after the war, with humanity first meeting the other species and trying to find their place. There is potential for a few cameos as well. no . A side story of the reaper war. I want my rts to be closer it xcom and have it Sci horror elements. The reaper war is perfect for that. I want to see how bad it got.

Even from the start of the game people were dying in horrific was from the start. Imagine a me rts like xcom where the reaper force could indoctrinated and/ turn to husk player units in the field and those husk could unit and become even horrifying monsters. And with banshee every play unit would have a fear check with it and panic if they fail. It was also a war trying gather as much lost resources as you can find and every mission was a race against time to complete them or the player unit get taken by hordes of reaper unit. And later they had to face collected units that come in mid mission and make thing harder. We need to see that nightmare.
