Kotaku - Sources: Mass Effect: Andromeda Will Not Get Single-Player DLC

Well, now we will see how good his sources are.

Depending who put in all the effort for that hoax, they might not have been guessing at all, they just chose a really weird way to spread the news. Of course, "three people familiar with BioWare's plans" doesn't sound like a much more trustworthy source, and we may never really know unless BioWare/EA make an official statement. I don't know what they have to gain by continued silence.

Personally I still can't quite shake the feeling that BioWare really decided to cut their losses (and some dead weight) on this one and moved all viable assets to Anthem to make this their big focus project. Even though their games capture my attention a bit less than they used to, I hope this will go well for them.

I know we can never be 100% certain but I believe Jason Schreier broke some legit Destiny and No Man's Sky stuff before. Y'never know.

At this point all I need is an article, blog post or even series of tweets answering some cliff hangers and I'm good to walk away.

I really don't get this guy.

If Bioware don't release any DLC, at best, he can claim he wasn't wrong. Without any independent sources to look up (and the fact he hides behind this 'drastic pivot' BS), there's no way to substantiate that he knew what he was talking about. This particular schtick is now linked with magic austrian outsourcing companies that worked on every game ever.

If Bioware do release DLC, he'll have the reputation as that hack from Kotaku who got it all wrong and couldn't accept it. He won't be able to blame 'his sources' because, again, we've no idea who they were. Worse, it'll imply that he was simply repeating what a certain not-austrian told him.

My honest impression is that he's going all in with his hand. The only way he can salvage this without coming out looking like BS merchant is to simply hope his initial story turns out to be true.

I'm obviously not a game developer and therefore am ignorant of the ins and outs of decision making about games, but nevertheless I do find it odd that Bioware did not use their official response to the hoax as an opportunity to confirm that they are working on some single player DLC that would be coming out sometime in the future.

At this point, some amount of clarification or confirmation of impending DLC would be be helpful, IMO.

Yesterday, a widely shared Facebook post claimed that BioWare had canceled Mass Effect: Andromeda’s downloadable content. The good news: that Facebook post was a hoax.
The bad news: they guessed correctly. Mass Effect: Andromeda will indeed not be receiving any single-player DLC, three people familiar with BioWare’s plans have told me.
