I've been there. The original ending to ME 3 hurt. like hell. So much that I even joined in on some of the protests and wrote a 54 chapter fan fic fixing the thing in my mind. (still the best thing I've ever written though so there is that), but then at the end of the day looking back realized my whole reaction to the thing was a little silly. Can we get a cliff notes version of your ending? I'm a sucker for alternative ME3 ending ideas. Well I mean the fan fic was not me fixing the ending, just the ending, but really my reaction to wanting to fix ME 3 as a whole because its a game I saw a lot of problems in the game as a whole, and a lot of things I wanted to fix...so in that sense it was very fan ficky. Basically though Abigail Shepard manages to convince the Catalyst the Reapers are not needed and that the solution is not neccessary so he takes the fleet and flies them into the sun. But she is very gravely injured so has to go through rehabilitation then at the end starts being a part of the rebuilding effort to rebuild the Galaxy in the wake of the Reaper war. But then discovers a group of people, the Disciples of the Reapers, who start worshipping them as Gods and want to bring the cycle back because they view the cycle as neccessary. At the end of the day she discovers that the core of Harbinger, his essence, rejected the Catalyst and is the one leading the Disciples of the Reapers, which then sets up a final battle between him and the forces of the Galaxy. Sacrificing are made, blasts from the past are resurrected, and Shepard is temporarily indoctrinated.

It's Kotaku. "Credibility" is not a word associated with them. He's not risking his career because he's a gaming journalist and that means literally nothing. He's not risking his credibility because his story has more than enough hedging on sources and even a "Could be wrong!" thrown in there that all he has to do is say that Bioware changed their minds. He's risking nothing but getting a lot of attention out of it. Lol, what people seem to want to ignore is that this guy has a pretty solid track record when it comes to him using inside sources to break news that later turned out to be true. But because his most recent story does not match what you want to happen, of course you will go lengths to discredit him. Donald Trump would be proud

I've been writing my one up as a writing exercise, it's quite fun to do.

This has been bugging me through this entire thread, so: Anonymous sources are a completely legitimate part of journalism. Sure, it doesn't sound as good as being able to name names, but in businesses or governments or wherever, the possibility of retaliation against leakers is very real. Without the ability to remain anonymous, few people would be willing to break contractual agreements or deal in classified government info. Investigative journalism basically could not exist without this. This isn't just some sort of 'tabloid journalism' thing. Every investigative journalist worth their salt has anonymous sources, and quotes them in articles. So while quoting anonymous inside sources can be used as a cover for false information, it is not itself evidence that the information is false. I'm not concerned with the anonymity of the sources. I'd expect them to be given that they presumably signed NDA's. What I am looking at is how those anonymous sources are described. In his first article about the Montreal studio being scaled down, he describes them as "sources close to the company." His article about the development of Andromeda refers to "nearly a dozen people who worked on Mass Effect: Andromeda." His third story describes sources as "sources familiar with the company’s plans." I'm not questioning whether he should use anonymous sources. What I'm saying is that none of his sources are currently still working on Andromeda. Exactly. Anonymous sources are one thing, imaginary is another.

hah! He certainly seems to take an interest in this forum and I'm not sure why. And, of course, I still believe he's wrong. In the end only time, and BioWare, will prove whether his allegations are correct or not.

MEA exceeded EA's expectations, so I've love to know how the hate ruins it when money is all that matters to EA.

Too bad it's morning here so a shot of whiskey would be alcoholism. Obligatory "it's five o'clock somewhere." update: it's five o'clock now! I've opened the cheap wine someone gave me to take home after a party Not very good, even for free. But better than nothing!

None of the anonymous sources are backed up with any named verifiable sources. This leaves the story wide open for skepticism. The journalist has also been wrong before. These problems can't be ignored. He's also been right before... And the fact that there's been no announcement yet for DLC, and essentially all signs pointing to there not being DLC... also can't be ignored.

What "signs" are pointing to there not being a DLC other than Jason's article? The comic is releasing on August 30th and the novel on September 1st. MEA's sales were actually pretty good, and much better than the more vocal members of the fanbase would have us believe. Bioware has historically not commented on DLCs until just before release. So what signs are you talking about?

Colfoley, I am proud of you.
