Not sucking, but it left me with a few questions. I'd heard rumors that there was a March release date so that EA could include the earning in Q4, but they've deferred them to Q1 of fiscal 18, so why do that? Another rumor I'd heard is the full budget for Andromeda was $100m. So it only made a little more than half that, if that number is true. Again, I don't know the veracity of either claim, but that was the rumor. I can't remember who, but someone explained it to me earlier. It has something to do with that the Deluxe and Super Deluxe content would be arriving outside of Q4 and into Q1 18. So they have to defer some of that revenue to the next quarter. It's very similar to the DLC thing. If they announce it now, then they will have to defer certain profits until after it comes out. SofaJockey had a great explanation for it. It's basically all bureaucracy and legalism, not conspiracies or anything. Ah, okay. So the specific language was "premium additions" is that reference to revenue made just from the Deluxe editions? I am not A Business Person so I will try to get my head around this badly, but is it the difference between the regular price and deluxe+ edition that is deferred, or the full cost of any deluxe+ edition? Because 53 million in Deluxe edition sales is kind of a lot no matter how you look at it. And nah, I didn't think it was conspiracy. My fear was that the earnings weren't enough and they didn't want to claim them on Q4, so moved them to Q1.

Again, I don't know the veracity of either claim, but that was the rumor. They only deferred earnings of $53 million for Premium Edition copies of ME:A. I think that's the package that included the remote controlled car and art book, but not a copy of the game. It was probably deferred to Q1 FY18 due to not having enough inventory to meet demand, meaning they sold more than they thought they would. Ah, makes sense now. So, it seems like $53 million is good, no?

It doesn't include sales of the base game, Deluxe and Super Deluxe copies. All the revenue from those sales would have been claimed in Q4 FY17.

Instead of checking the prepared remarks from the shareholder meeting I checked the full transcript. The meeting was on May 9th, 2017. I'll post full quotes of what was said with regard to Andromeda and let you guys figure out what's important. From the presentation: From the Q&A: Question Answer
What jumped out at me is this statement, "BioWare has continued to support Mass Effect, and the new team is doing some amazing things and you'll hear more about that in the months to come."

As to if it is the difference between base game and Deluxe/Super Deluxe or just the total ($20 vs $80 per game approx) I am unsure. I don't mean to suggest you thought it was a conspiracy, and I apologize if you took it that way. I just meant some people on the forum tend to lean towards conspiracy theories.

Bioware are being idiots... Just flat out confirm or deny...so bloody cryptic all the time... More people are getting annoyed at their crap...the thing is, their reputation has taken a big hit, but they are still pissing people off more. I'm wondering if this kind of pr is good or bad for their business? I TOTALLY AGREE... BUT... It's not in the best interests of a publicly-traded company and NDAs and blah, blah, blah (nothing about gaming in those blahs.)... This is a new hurdle. These forums have become sort of a community-built tool to overcome them. These last few days have been a fun distraction. I'm finally sitting at the big table.

What jumped out at me is this statement, "BioWare has continued to support Mass Effect, and the new team is doing some amazing things and you'll hear more about that in the months to come." I noticed that too! It's what has been driving me nuts about those articles. These statements are sitting out there, easy to find, and it just gets ignored by some...people, who I won't name cause I'm just sick of it. These aren't the developers talking about this shit, it's the suits and money men. I read that statement back in May while going through the financial reports when they were released. Hell, the real news in the transcripts gets ignored and that's the sad fact that EA is going to move more and more of their properties to online interactivity. There's a very real chance that in 5 or 10 years or so they may not be in the business of making desktop games and that, sadly, would include their RPG IP's.

It's sad that forum users do more research than games "journalists". It's a little wonder why gamers dont trust them. Some of this doesn't even require research, just common sense. Case in point, back in January when the EA exec made the statement that they expected to sell 3 million copies during the first week? Executives make statements like that because they already know what their figures are going to be. They're looking at the number of pre-orders from the Xbox store, PSN and Origin, and if they're not sitting right at that target, and I think they were, then they're so damn close they expect to easily make up the difference after release.

They'd never confirm this, even if it true. If they came out and said, the game is getting no SP DLC, and the IP has been but on hiatus while we figure out where to go next, why would anyone keep playing the game. They're still making money on the MP, and since none of these articles mention the MP, it seems that the MP will get DLC regardless of the SP game/
Why they wouldn't even say something is in the works we'll have more details soon, I don't know. Saying we can't speak on the future yet, to me points more towards the franchise in general, not DLC. They've been tight lipped about the game since release. They really haven't done anything to generate any type of hype around the game. Nothing like Mass Effect 3 had the best launch of an ME game, sold 900K in the first 24 hours or whatever it was, or how DA:I had the best launch of a Bioware game ever.
They've had no problem is the past patting themselves on the back, so the lack of anything said about this game's launch just stands out to me.

I noticed that, and, "New multiplayer content is continued to be released, and new content kind of arriving overall more regularly." I hadn't heard that from anyone until I read the transcript. It's sad that forum users do more research than games "journalists". It's a little wonder why gamers dont trust them. It's freakin' deja vu. Or I'm really high.

He actually said he expected the game to do 30-50% of its overall sales in the first week, and since the last game did 6 million in sales, he'd expect Andromeda to do at least 3 million in the first week. He was basing it all on the assumption that ME:A would do at least as well as ME3.

They'd never confirm this, even if it true. If they came out and said, the game is getting no SP DLC, and the IP has been but on hiatus while we figure out where to go next, why would anyone keep playing the game. They're still making money on the MP, and since none of these articles mention the MP, it seems that the MP will get DLC regardless of the SP game/ Why they wouldn't even say something is in the works we'll have more details soon, I don't know. And according to NPD MEA had the second best launch of any ME game just behind ME3. That's not a failure by any stretch of the imagination. The only way the MP makes any money is through the sales of Andromeda points to purchase in-game packs. I love the MP but it's not a huge money maker. That's the reason the MP doesn't get dedicated servers but instead uses p2p connections. It's also why they can afford to let the games run. Do you really think ME3MP is making any money at this point?
