If this article had been about DLC being in the works citing unnamed sources I wonder how many people would be questioning the sources. There have been three articles from the site. 1) Andromeda is going on Hiatus... Reaction - Attacking the reporter, asking that sources be named, and statements confirmed by Bioware, general denial 2) Troubled Development.. Reaction - That makes sense, it explains a lot, so the game realy only had 18-24 months development, 5 years, general acceptance, general acceptance 3) No SP DLC... Reaction - Attacking the reporter, asking for sources to be named, general denial I said this yesterday. The sources for all these stories have to be the same people. Either they're credible and they know what they're talking about or they're not. Either you can take the word of unnamed sources, or you can't. It can't be both. You nailed it. People don't want to believe the guy, so they don't, and try to reationalize why he can't be trusted. I won't put my hands in the fire for someone I don't know, but if you look at his record, it's solid. He is not someone known to make up "clickbait news", but to reliably report information. But that doesn't seem to matter when the you don't like the news. It's like the guy is just some random reddit users saying his father knows a guy.

Yeah the whole Suikoden thing just flipped things right over. Even before that. Going back to when I stumbled onto his article some hours ago. It was just posted and the hoax nonsense was still being processed by many. Timing is just weird. The timing is why it all went wrong for him.

Because you find something incredulous, doesn't mean it's not real. Jason did his job by rechecking with his sources to make sure he wasn't making a wrong assumption. That was the correct thing to do. Getting a confirmation is not the same thing as providing "no new information." Jason never ranted. He never risked his reputation outside of BSN. That's pretty much a lame ad hominem, trying to paint him as unhinged and amateurish. For a guy who's gotten death threats for reporting a game delay, it'll probably take a lot more than our reaction to rattle him. And standing by your reporting =/= being defensive. It's what professional reporters do. If he confirmed with his sources fine... but it didn't require a second article just to say that. Bioware did not expressly state that there would be DLC, so in many respects, Jason's first article was not put into question by this hoax being revealed as a hoax. He's made things worse by coming back with such a defensive position on his original article both times. Professional reporters know how to take the heat and not succumb to it. He's not behaving anything like a professional reporter. His best move for his reputation would have been just to have written the original article, confirmed his sources privately when the hoax appeared (so he knows they weren't part of that hoax) and just left his original article stand. If he's right, it will be eventually proven right. If he were confident of that, then he would not be so defensive about it all. The furor surrounding him - he has brought upon himself, first by ranting defensively on social media and now by publishing this article... which does not contain any more actual information than the first one. He... checked back with his sources and then wrote about it. You know, because reporters... write. Confirmation = new information. It'd be weird if he hadn't written about it. Being a reporter and all. Pardon my defensive ranting (since words have no meaning anymore in Trumpocalypse 2017), but the whole concern trolling about his supposedly damaged reputation is just the best.

We and others discussed this already in another thread. Yet you still blatantly ignore our counter-points and continue with circular argumentation. There's no point discussing with you.

Even if he's right, his behavior is not going to help him in the future. Deja vu! I said the exact same thing when I thought SN was real! What behavior? Defensive ranting on social media. I also have "other" issues with Jason's manner of reporting. He did a podcast before ME:A was released where his co-caster about intro-ing the podcast by asking him about the weather in NY and Jason proceeded to eat up a rather lengthy portion of the podcast deriding his co-caster about wasting time talking about the weather. It was, IMO, rather unprofessional of his as well.

It's quite amazing that so many people can't even entertain the thought that is a credible journalist just reporting what he heard. So, 3 months from now, if there is no DLC for Andromeda. People will say he was just guessing? And got lucky? No wonder Trump in the potus.

His "sources" at this point, however, may be putting a lot more on the line that reputation. After such a hoax broke, I find it almost inconceivable that anyone a Bioware would immediately run to Jason a second time just to confirm no DLC. There is no new information in that article that wasn't in Jason's first one. Jason's second rant about his article already shows that he's hyper-defensive about the whole issue (something that is also unbecoming of a professional reporter). That rant alone risked his reputation and now coming back with this article only makes him appear more desperate and defensive. If he wants to be perceived as a professional reporter... he really needs to start acting like one. Time will tell whether he's right or wrong. No one should receive death threats on something so trivial as gaming. I would agree with that if it wasn't so... convenient. Twenty-four hours after this debacle he comes up with "three" sources that want to be anonymous or they fear they'll get fired? That seems... to quick to gather three sources for one then there's that original article back in April in which he: back tracked in saying they "scaled down" Montreal, which is completely normal after development, also while in this new article saying "things can change!" While basing his story/argument on a hoax and "three" sources? I feel like that's more like sloppy journalism without offering any kind of speculation on to who these people might be? Just saying people that are familiar with BioWare's plans? Also, if this people are so familiar with BioWare's why would they risk their job security to some random reporter? Part of this problem, is BioWare being so coy and cryptic about this. It is has much BioWare's fault as this guy's fault.

I think that's what I'm most perplexed by. Up until his reddit ragequit I assumed his article was completely legit, as per his track record. After reddit I wasn't really sure what his angle was, as he didn't sound like a reporter anymore (particularly that weird thing about clickbait). Now it turns out a lot of what he was saying was being mirrored by a hoax website. His next move is to do another reddit and then when people mention that, he comes on the forum to collect screenshots to stick on twitter. It's like he's losing the plot.

I don't get why folks still think Jason is a liar? Like, seriously, this is reaching denial levels. He has no reason whatsoever to lie or mislead.
Given everything that's transpired, ditching DLC was expected. This game was unfortunately dead the day it was handed to the B-team.

Can you post articles that he wrote that goes against that? His first article about Mass Effect that needed to be edited at least twice because it was mostly sensationalist lies.

And standing by your reporting =/= being defensive. It's what professional reporters do. Does that also include screenshotting fan forums and gloating over the reaction? Can you really blame the guy for being morbidly fascinated by how personally we take bad news? Imagine your work inadvertently causing this reaction. There are some amazing rationalizations in here.

He edited it because he thought the title was misleading, short after it was written. He said so in the comments. But that's it? An edit of an article is proof enough that he is just making up news to get views?

Even if he does end up being right, his current behavior is seriously damaging his credibility as a journalist. Seriously, taking screenshots of a fan forum and posting them on Twitter just because some people have the audacity to not take what he says as gospel? That is not the behavior of a professional.
