The note about prescience wrt SP DLC was not where I hung my point about his credibility. Frankly if you don't even know what he said then I don't even know why you're commenting -- though I will defend to the death you're right to say it. Again, I was speaking to the general impact of trolling as it relates to journalistic integrity and credibility, since that was the question you posed. One need not have personally experienced every troll to have an educated opinion on the subject. Also, *your. I poked around and found no trolling, just some pissy bsners angry that he didn't Yale them seriously. Your educated opinion is useless if there was no trolling. And you have no clue if there was or not. Thanks for the your/you're. As an engineer I'm allotted a few of those per day. Also, I blame autocorrect.

I don't know where this skepticism for Andromeda's future DLCs comes from. Poor sales? Poor reviews? Those don't have that much of an impact in the game industry anymore. It all comes down to profiting potential and Andromeda is, despite its flaws, Bioware's only cash cow for the next 15 months. If they want to make any profit over the next year and a quarter (and I have no doubt they do), they must release content for Andromeda. Obviously I am not saying that Bioware is going to release new content for Andromeda, but rather that is only logical/smart that they do so - especially if they want to keep their most successful franchise relevant in the current gaming world. Similar talks were had over another recent EA title that was a fiasco (much more so than Andromeda): Titanfall 2. They said 'no dlc', 'no future support', 'it's over for this game', 'devs are working on something else'. It turned out that game received a lot of support and a substantial amount of new, free content. It is still getting more even to this day, and some vibrant marketing behind it. It is what it takes to overcome poor sales and keep a franchise alive.
At the end of the day, while a succesful game can benefit from extra content, for a not so succesful one this content is vital. And that is something that EA most likely understands.

Actual journalists tend not to troll their readers. Clickbaity bloggers do though, because hate-traffic aggregates pageviews and generates ad revenue just as well as earned readership. Better, sometimes. That doesn't necessarily automatically invalidate his other activities, but it certainly doesn't add to his credibility. Neither of his recent articles on MEA were clickbait. His response over on reddit after is 1st MEA article was reasonable and included some prescient speculation that there would likely be no MEA SP DLC. Maybe I'm looking down the wrong rabbit holes but the few Schreiner/BSN links I've seen are pretty tame. Maybe you could point me to something he did that was trollworthy, but otherwise you just seem to be conflating him with some general 'bad-internet' notions. Up to about 5 hours ago, he decided to get pissy about some of our forum members showing skepticism towards his article and started screenshotting them and tweeting them to his followers. I know we're a public forum, but I think it's fairly dickish to take a private individual and put them up on a writer's public Twitter with a large following, and not even blur their name out so that they won't potentially be harassed by any of his followers that might be rabid. One of the individuals he chose to publicly try and shame ended up deleting their account here. I would call that trollish, to say the least. You would have thought Bioware have heard of the company which develops content for them.. They claimed to have made content for them. People in previous threads claimed they do not have affiliation with Bioware citing certain sources. I don't know nor care. All I said was they didn't say what Sinclair claimed was false, just that they dont know or work with them. Actually, within the depths of this incredibly long-ass thread over in the SP forums, between our forum snoops and Reddit's, it's been proven that Sinclair Network was never even a real company. It was a giant, elaborate hoax.

I've already said I'm not surprised. But here's the sequel; I'm not surprised 2: Up yours, BioWare. Staring the only man up for the job; But seriously, I never wanted an SP DLC anyway. Effort better spent elsewhere.

They made a fortune trying to destroy private individuals, then some guy named Hulk Hogan crushed their hacktastic asses into bankruptcy. And I totally agree DR, getting the outrage brigade out after people is just complete BS.

Fuckin hack The key distinction is that sportswriters depend on athletes' cooperation to generate their material. Conversely, gamers depend on game "journalists," such as they are, for inside information about their games. And as I said above, game bloggers don't give a shit if you're reading their posts with bated breath and implicit trust in their integrity or deep, seething hatred and skepticism. Pageviews are pageviews. And a dozen other sites linking to your story is a windfall. Whether he's a fraudulent douche who saw the hoax reaction and decided to strike while the target audience was primed, or just fortuitously had this story ready to go with legit sources, professionaly this was a good day for him.

Yeah, I can only laugh at this point. I'm sure there will be only healthy reactions to the article. I don't even know what a healthy reaction would be at this point. After DAI I would say a healthy reaction from BioWare would be anything other than seeing negetive feedback, throwing a tantrum and ceasing all support for the game.

Had someone on here gone off on crazy train and threatened him or his family, that would be an entirely different story. But all people did was legitimately question and criticize. Only to then be unwillingly held up in a public spotlight. I wouldn't have even had an issue with it had he just blurred the names and avatars. He can feel free to point and laugh at us all he wants, but the moment he started targeting individuals who could then be easily harassed by any of his followers, that's when it turned into abuse of power. And I will at least not be silent about it. I protect my people, as much as I can.

I don't spend my time super-wisely, obviously, but I do stop far short of having opinions about individual gaming bloggers. I was simply responding to the general proposition that trolling doesn't affect credibility. I have no idea what troll activities the previous poster was even referencing, let alone their severity. For what it's worth though, his speculation was only prescient if he's proven by time to be correct, so at this stage using that as proof of credibility is a bit circular. As someone pointed out yesterday, Inquisition's first DLC didn't drop until March '15, following its Nov '14 launch, and it ultimately received three sizable SP DLCs. It's a bit early to assume nothing's coming. I believe the keyword here is "assuming". Investigating facts versus making them up. As long as there is no official statement out from EA/Bioware everything is guess/hope best case and malicious gossip worst case.

Mention it, ok, express your opinion, but then move along and take a new topic and occupy yourself with something positive. Staying constantly on the negative side has for me some dubious flavor. What are his (or others) stakes? I won't care anyway.

So let me get this straight. The only new content to sp is a male gay romance option and loads (no pun intended) of copy paste sp content to mp. And I'm supposed to suppose that stripped down to twitter specialists (BioWare Montreal) can actually give us a DLC comparable to past ME games, if at all?

The DLC for ME2 and ME3 was arguably more fun and well-written than the main games, and was certainly a welcome change of pace with different locales and settings.
Lots of good single player DLC could have made a not-so-bad game much more memorable. Its not as good as the previous mass effects - but judged independently its not bad at all.
