The other half is watching the Handmaiden's Tale on TV right now (a fun evening's entertainment right there), so instead I am listening to the OST as I never really have.
It feels like I have not heard half of this music, and a lot of it is really great. A Trail of Hope is brilliant for example, yet I cannot recall hearing it during my playthrough. I know about 60% of the way through I changed the sound mix and boosted the music and it made a huge difference to the experience.
Anyone else noticed this really odd sound mix going on? I remember people complaining about the game being so quiet at release.

A Trail of Hope has various versions that play at key points in the story. The one from the available album, as far as I can tell, only really plays in its entirety in the title/prologue sequence of the game. There's another version of that same tune that plays when first landing on Aya called Nav Point Sent on YouTube.
Then there's the version that plays when introducing the Tempest.
My personal favorite version is Hub Epilogue.

I dunno. Ambient music is not what this game does, but I remember all the music that plays during actual story points where something is happening. Then there's Meridian Combat, which I'm sure everyone hears when fighting through the first chamber in the endgame.
I think what this game needed more of was unique stuff to identify with a specific point in the game. For example, SurKesh in ME3 had a really great battle track that does not exist anywhere else in the game.

Clarification: Perhaps something is wrong with the Master's choices? I would suggest that the Master makes sure everything is set up as they desire.
(Is your music turned up properly in the settings? Alternatively try lowering voice/sfx in addition to enhancing music volume.)

the opening theme is the one i like best . Sometimes i don't press "resume" right away to listen to it more extensively. It has a scifi feel to it, and it's not foreboding like ME2 and 3 but it carries a feeling of hope, anticipation and also nostalgia.
(An amusing detail is no matter at what point you click resume, it always resolves harmonically- it's a simple enough progression - so it never feels like you're interrupting the music. )

The music that's there is absolutely wonderful. Still a shame that I barely heard any of it during gameplay. The game, for me, was way too silent.

Agreement: Good music can sound as good as a high-powered blaster carbine. As for us meatbag organics... it also gets our heart pumping at different beats. When I hear combat music, followed by a banshee scream, my sphincter muscle clenches. When there is a sad scene and the background music is subtle, but helps with the narration, can make it unforgettable (see Thane, Legion, Mordin, etc.) This is where I still see unpolished spots, but if music and VA come later in the development cycle, then I get why it wasn't implemented. Maybe through further patching or straight up DLC (at this point, it can be added to the DLC and no one is going to cry except the antagonists that said it should've been there in the first place.) they can just put a short-timed piece of appropriate music. It's still filling the canvas as I see it in my opinion. By the way, you're good HK-47. The hairs on the back of my neck have taken notice.

It's like it suffered from being too far downstream to get worked on. It's got some great moments, but they're almost all in cutscenes, and I think the supplied soundtrack skimped on most of them with too much background filler music. The main theme I originally found rather disappointing but that was down to impatience, it's certainly grown on me a great deal.

The other half is watching the Handmaiden's Tale on TV right now (a fun evening's entertainment right there), [snip] If your other half chose to watch it, then it probably is a fun evening's entertainment for them. Why are you ragging on them for enjoying something? Especially to a group of strangers on the internet? Are things ok at home? Does your other half rag on you for playing video games? If that's the case, you guys should split up and find people to date who don't mock you for having different tastes and interests. Or just stay single and avoid all that fuss. After all, masturbation and gaming go hand in hand.

www.develop-online.net/interview/heard-about-mass-effect-andromeda/0231978You don't notice the music because they tried a new system that kind of fails miserably with regards to implementing music. "With Andromeda, the team took music interactivity to ‘the next level’ by developing a highly flexible system that facilitates a hybrid of traditional music scripting with a completely parametric and contextual procedural system. Voillot explains: “It detects you’re in combat, aggregating the total ‘CombatStress’ and transitioning to the correct intensity music. On top are ‘Combat Overlays’ triggered and layered in sync reflecting e.g. a headshot kill. These mix perfectly with ‘Ambient Overlays’ when the action dissipates and you resume exploring. When the player enters conversation, we auto-switch to the ‘Conversation Mood System’, which uses the writing tools to pick a conversation ‘Mood’– line-by-line if needed. The great thing is we got the writing team to help set this up as they knew the context best. So that’s the procedural system – but at any point we can override it with the ‘Scripted’ system - more akin to what we’ve done previously.” - They need to go back to what they've done previously, as the current system isn't firing on all cylinders...

Music was to much in the background for me to take interest in it, very different than the OT that was so in your face about it. I had to YouTube the OST to really hear them (and it was much better since it wasn't so ambient).
