Some of the Cauldrons are absolutely incredible in this game, in my opinion. I love the variety. I thought the first game did pretty well with this, but Forbidden West really uses the new gameplay elements to vary them even more. I can't promise dazk won't hate some of them -- sorry, my friend -- but not all of them involve lots of heights. Reading everyone's comments makes me want to play again. I just played it in January, though, so I won't jump back into it just yet. Technically, I didn't fully complete Burning Shores this time, so I have that yet to finish.Yea hI've been lookin gin a tsom vids o fDragon sDogma 2 and I'm starting t ofeel an itc ht opla ytha tbut I'm holding off for th emoment as I promised myself I' dfinis hForbidden West first.

I most definitely did one-shot the boss machine in Mu but I am playing on Story, Sharpshot Bow to a weak point, I am not one to make stuff up, I hope my seven years on here proves that out. There was no Mob just one Machine that got released in the end fight. I wasn't calling you out, I know that you can oneshot big enemies on lower difficulties. And with mob I meant the general video game term for a hostile creature/enemy, not mob in the sense of a group of people Regarding TAU (spoiler if you haven't finished the Cauldron yet): The TAU endboss is a Widemaw (hippo). On higher difficulties you get two of them at once, hence the need for some serious use of consumables. As in real life, the hippos are no joke, especially in a closed arena with only one small piece of cover. At least that fight taught me how to evade their water/boulder attack easily - run towards them at I a steep angle. No need to even evade anymore, sprinting is sufficient. I love learning tidbits like this, feels very rewarding picking up on those tactics.
For today I am planning on playing some Machine Strike, get some missing machine parts for upgrades, and try to farm some money. Accidently spent too much money on armor sets (cosmetics game is endgame, that's just how it is), and now I am 800 shards short to buy the purple tear bow in Scalding Spear. Hmpf... mass extermination it is. Fanghorn/Lancehorn are looking promising, like in the first game. Shame that I don't have access to Harvest Arrows yet (if they even exist anymore).
No worries. Thanks for the heads up re Tau, I have unfortunately messed with Widemaw's already. I made an ill fated decision early on in the game to head to Riverhymn as it had a nice name and was way under leveled for what eventuated. But on Aloy's and my part it involved a lot of running around and hiding as it was an enclosed map and I needed to complete it to leave. I did get what I needed then practiced killing one so at least have a strategy for them now. I honestly do not know how you play on the higher levels in HZD games, it is well beyond me and I never played the first one higher than normal. Give me a gun and I'll play any game at the highest level but these sword and bow games (except AC games) it is beyond me.

Some of the HZD quests are quite long and I always seem to encounter them near the end of my play time??? Anyway got a fair bit done yesterday and finally feel like I am getting a handle on combat and the story is grabbing me more. Did a quest to find a Carja Warrior that turned out to be Talanah. Helped her track a guy into the mountains then parted ways. Headed to Plainsong to get the Chorus to let Aloy go into the God Cave which wasn't bad for being a Cauldron, only one part stumped me and then I didn't see the door to the Building and wasn't till I got outside that I noticed it said explore the building so had to go all the way back in again. Explored the Building and found Minerva and convinced her to merge with Gaia. Returned to Plainsong and did a couple of quests to find some hunters and to find a guys wife I think it was. Encountered Stalkers for the first time and even at this low level I say I impressed myself with my strategizing flexibility if this combat, who knows maybe there's hope for after all. Also returned to one of the sites to get an Ancient Relic I had not been able to get into due to the Crystals. Pic's Talanah The Chorus The God Cave was fun to explore and having Vaal and Zo along was fun. Potential Spoiler photos if you have not gone to Plainsong and then the God Cave This made me smile a lot Scenery

Another tip: Don't forget that you can create Jobs. While you're at a workbench, create Jobs for hunting animals or machines you need for upgrades. You don't need to make a Job your active quest. It will show as a non-highlighted quest on your big map while you focus on other things. The game will also tell you if you get close. (I use Dynamic HUD settings, but I imagine this is true, regardless of HUD settings.)
Animals are generally found in their specific ecosystems, so you won't find desert lizards in the mountains nor ducks in the desert. The pouch upgrade requirements ensure that you won't fully upgrade them until you've explored every region.
Also, melee is very, very powerful in this game. It's not like HZD. With the right gear and a mastery of the melee combat system, Aloy can beat down even the strongest machines with her spear. I got pretty good at melee combat in my second playthrough, but then forgot everything I'd learned. 😆

Got a Warrior Bow with Shock arrows. Learned the skill for 5 Warrior Bow arrows at the same time. Last thing all machines now see is Aloy slowly walking to Critical Strike their zapped ass.

Where did you get it? I think the guy at the first Hunter Trials at the Daunt gave it to me. It's required for the first trial.

There's also a blue Warrior bow (shock/acid) at Plainsong for cheap. I skilled into Burst Fire (three shots at once with Warrior bow) for elemental stacking, didn't really think about Spread Shot for the same purpose. But overall I feel like elemental damage is much weaker compared to HZD. Currently, besides Silent Strike, I am using a max level Sun-touched Hunter Bow with Advanced Hunter Arrows almost exclusively against machines (Level 24, still hanging around Skalding Spear). With Triple Notch you can remove all large and medium parts with one "shot" on most mobs (haven't tried Thunderjaw or bigger, ). For small parts one of the two or three arrows will most likely miss, so just regular fire. Against humans, Silent Strike and a max level Hardweave Sharpshot bow. That's just absurd damage. Humans are still pushovers, lol. My plan for yesterday was a success, upgrading my equipment made a much bigger difference than I would have thought. Hunted a lot of different machines and learned how to kill them efficiently. Still haven't gotten the purple bow from the vendor in Scalding Spear, I am missing a component from a machine I haven't seen yet, but the Sun-touched Hunter Bow is fulfilling it's role just fine. Plan for today is dungeon delving in Cauldrons IOTA and GEMINI, and than I going to do the next step of the main quest.
Crazy how a different paint can radically change the mood of an armor (Carja Shadow in "Verdant Jewel" dye):
Regarding the Tenakh, I feel like the ones around Scalding Spear are much more relaxed than their reputation would have let me believe prior to meeting them.

Had a bit of a frustrating day yesterday went back to clean up some (?) quests that just happened to be gated. Spent ages scouring that lake after clearing the machines in the quest Drowned Hopes. Wasn't till I surfaced after not being able to unlock the console I noticed the marker had a gated sign on it. Looked it up and it requires doing the Poseidon quest. Why can't it tell you the requirements when you start it? How about it does not appear till you have the requisite tool? Then faffed around doing stuff that takes time like another Ancient Ruin, seriously moving crates puzzles were tiresome ages ago and train carriages didn't give it any new life. Tried getting a drone again for ages as I had gotten others but this one is gated for some reason???? Again did not notice till I gave up after catching it and falling off several times and then looking at the map and seeing the gated sign. Headed off to do another quest and the rout took me through a full on Rebel/Machine battle that I got bogged down in for a good 30 minutes as every time I'd kill everything another machine would attack me unsuspectingly. Anyway lots of loot. Then it was Pizza and Beer time with the family. Pic's Found this place that has a fair bit of Greenshine stuff you need to enter from the Eastern side. Not only wasted my time trying to do this quest had to listen to these two idiots Helped these two, this wasn't too bad a mission except I had already explored the fort and spent ages trying to find a way to the top before giving up as it was inaccessible till doing the quest. Pretty pic's

Have to go back and double check as I have been trying to find a shock bow.

The Blue "Hunter" bow I got there was a Frost/Poison one I don't remember seeing a blue Warrior bow (shock/acid) at Plainsong. Have to go back and double check as I have been trying to find a shock bow. It's there, it's called Acid Warrior Bow. You can also get it at the Carja camp, iirc. The plan for today did not survive contact with the enemy... geez, what a surprise. Cleared IOATA (very nice), then spend quite some time farming components to clear my backlog of corrupted machine unlocks. Explored another part of the map around the Cauldron, remembered that GEMINI is still locked, decided to help a Tenakh hunter kill some machines so they can trade for water. I am about to unleash a fully skilled Ravager on those machines. To be fair I already tried it once and died in the crossfire between it and another Ravager, lol. Pretty cool that in this game machines seem to keep all their abilities. Looting one of these puppies will never not be funny:

acehilator I see you use a different imaging hoster to me, I use imgur but I don't like the recent changes they have made is imgbb I think the one you use good? I guess I have no complaints? It's free, you don't need an account, the web page is lightweight and supports drag&drop from you local file explorer. Two clicks for fullscreen view when starting from a forum post. I don't post a ton of pictures on the net, but I've been using them on and off for almost a decade now, had one single instance of a picture link breaking after a while, everything else is still up. Thumbs up from me. Best buddies (for the next 100sec): Blue vs Red: Ok this is getting out of hand:

So I FINALLY beat Erik at the end of Death's Door....what a pain in my ass! There were at least 12x that I squarely nailed the last yellow thingy on the spider with two shots....But because Erik hit me at precisely the same moment, the shots didn't count. I had to cheat and put Concentration Always ON in order to get a clean shot. And finally....FINALLY, I got my shots off and finished the mission. I was serously going to rage-quit and uninstall the frickin' game if I couldn't get past that part today.
Then I did the Bristlebacks In The Daunt side quest and even started the Cook's quest collecting the stuff he needs but I have most of it just from exploring. all I need now are 3x Meats.
Oh, and lastly, I climbed my first Tall Neck out in Cinnebar Sands....I love those things! I love watching them, I love climbling them and I could stare at the view they give you all day....

Fair bit of play yesterday lets see if my old brain can remember any of it. Did a lot of exploring and bouncing back and forwards to Plainsong, it's just easy and I know where everything is and made the effort to find the people I could chat with after other quests. Not sure why they can't have a marker for those on the map. Took on a Shellsnapper, that was a mistake and a damn long fight especially as other machines joined in and a damn Drone was shooting at me as well!!!! Prevailed but I'll be steering clear from now on. Did a Charger race, hated it as I suck but won by a head. Found "Arrowhead" helped Drakka out and here we go with a quest that goes on and on and ends with a tough decision but I'd made it well before then anyway sorry Drakka but you sound like a loudmouth, and I don't trust you. . What was with that last fight I couldn't even see or tell who the enemy was even with the Focus. Found a Vista Point and matched it the first one I could not find the location and gave up. Caught a Drone and opened lots of campfires etc. Is it Spearpoint the name of the town where Yarra is? Anyway, parked there to do some selling and buying. There is stuff I am loathe to part with, but I have not been using it so going to get rid of nearly everything including all my green Coils and Weaves to buy purple weapons. What I am using more than in HZD (except for flying things) is the rope caster to tie down Thunderjaws, the Shell Snapper, those leaping things etc. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong with the Warrior Bow? The range is hopeless it seems to be very inaccurate and damage is terrible. I am losing it from my load slots. Pic's Nice hair didn't help you in the horse race. Damn this thing was tough, can anyone tell me what it means if my health bar is yellow? Why can't people be nice to each other??? Scenery shots

dazk, the Warrior Bow is supposed to be used at point blank range. It's not for accurate, aimed weak-point shots, but rather for unloading arrows as quickly as your finger can fire. It's Burst Fire and Spread Shot techniques are some of the best damage-dealing techniques. It's awesome against pretty much anything, but particularly against humans and frozen machines. Be careful selling your coils. Even low-level coils remain useful. You'll have a lot of weapons as the game progresses, and they'll need coils to be useful. I don't think you should feel stressed to buy better gear. You'll earn appropriate gear at a pretty generous rate. Ropecasters are great. The Legendary one takes ages to appear. 🙄 One foolproof approach to tough machines, once you have the needed gear, is to tie them down, freeze them, and then unload into a weak point with a Boltblaster with Sustained Burst (basically rapid autofire). That's my favorite way to kill Fireclaws without damaging their sac webbing. Edit: Yara is at Scalding Spear. Arrowhand is the small settlement where you meet Drakka.
