So major audio and game freezing on menus for me playing now. Aloy lost her voice, then music and sound effects dropped out and then dialogue with an NPC had no dialogue in a mission. Went into the settings and the game froze like yesterday and I had to End Task it. Verifying the game files but nothing has changed since I started so not sure what the deal is. Did a search and I am not alone with this issue and variations of it. Typical I have lots to play in peace today at home and the game is borked!!!!!

I just ran around like an idiot and kept using the Rope Caster to get shot onto a pole, that worked even if it was humiliating, thank god no one was watching. I am finding a lot of the combat frustrating, two fights I have had now have been staged at night and it was actually near on impossible to see the enemy (sorry friendly peoples I shot at) until I accidentally turned my focus on and it highlighted them yellow. The other issue I have is just how I have to keep trying several weapons to find one that does any damage then go to fight another but different enemy and that weapon does nothing against the new one. I get why they may have one down that route but one type of enemy per fight would be good and don't throw Aloy onto a fight without a scouting opportunity. Yes, I am finding that while using a Controller...sometimes I want the Bow and I get the shock-thingy. Sometimes I want the grappling hook, and I still get the shock-thingy.....Other times I want to carry nothing....and yet I'm still forced to carry a weapon in my hands (usually the shock-thingy). Instructions say "hold L Trigger and push Y to use grappling hook" so I do that, and in mid-jump, I get... (you guessed it) the shocker-thingy. Damn it! I'm also noticing there's a TON of "Push Y to gather....." Why even have other buttons (X, B, A)? You barely ever use them. You only use LT+Y when you're using the pull-caster to latch onto objects Aloy wants to pull. When using it during jumping, you just hit the jump button again while mid-air and within range. I couldn't tell if that's what was happening to you. Disregard if I've completely misunderstood. To be fair, all the buttons do something. Y is the Interact button, so it's used a lot; but X is crotch and slide; A is jump and mid-air pull-caster; and B is roll. They all get a lot of use. I just thought of something you guys might've missed and would really appreciate. In the options, there should be an option to turn off pick-up animations. Given the thousands of items Aloy will pick up during her adventure, being able to eliminate the animation and do it on the move was a big improvement, in my opinion. dazk, I thought of one for your situation with being annoyed by weapon swapping. There's an option that can be turned on called Quick-Swap. It allows you to swap back and forth between two weapons with a single button. It's very useful. (It can also be used later in the game to do a type of "reload canceling" with certain, powerful arrows.) You can also use quick swap to assign a particular weapon as your main weapon. I use the Warrior Bow heavily, for example, so I generally have it tagged to be my Quick-Swap default. There are lots of useful features like these buried in the options. Some of them were added after release, so the game doesn't necessarily tell you about them. When it does, it's often embedded in those nested tutorial menus that I never read.

Aloy had a nice conversation with Gaialast night and hasnow secured a base where sh ecan put Gaia back togethe rwith her subordinates. Next up find th e3 that are missin gAethar Poseidon and the other one I forge tthe nam eof. I've elected t ogo for Aetha rfirst given I'm still kind of level 15/16 and that's level 17 so I' m almost at the required level t og oafter i talready. I'm going to try to do a side quest or 2 first though to get me up to the required level bfeore I mov etowards doing i tbut even if I can't I'll move in th edirection of doing it anyway as I' m probably close enough to risk it. Aloy seemed quie timpressed with her nwe mountainside retreat.

The armor can be bought at Plainsong at the regular armor vendor, that's why I didn't bother to put it into spoilers. And it looks the same as in the first game anyways. Dying it only changed the color slightly, it's almost black by default anyways. Regarding the Cauldron, I meant the first regular Cauldron (MU). And I'm playing on Very Hard, you are not oneshotting the boss mobs in MU or TAU

Im sure once I get used to playing the game just like I have with Fallen Order or Jedi Survivor it wont seem such a pain in my fluffy tail.

Does anyone have the hardcover edition of The Art of Horizon Zero Dawn and/or.... Forbidden West who woukdnt mind sharing some details or reviews of their books?
Im trying to decide if I want to buy the books; though Im running out of space on my shelf (and my mom would throttle me if I "bougjt yet another silly art book when (you) dont evwn look at the ones you have..."
I was nwver interested in them before but now that Im playing Forbidden Wst .
*[long pause]
Maybe I should wait until Respawn finishes Cal's story and make that my final Art Of purchase... yes, I will do that. Bht still, comments would be nice to read. 🙂

There was no Mob just one Machine that got released in the end fight.

So did some exploring yesterday then did the quest to eliminate The Eclipse. I was at least 7 levels above the recommended level for this mission and it was a bit of a cake walk, took out nearly every enemy with one shot from stealth with the Sharpshot bow and the boss dude went down with some Shredder Discs and some Explosive Spikes pretty easily. Then did some more exploring, then did the main story quest where you chase up the coordinates to find Sylens. No major dramas, but I am certainly not a fan of the Cauldrons and all the jumping in the water filled area of this mission. The act of doing these jumps as I mentioned when playing the first game actually physically affects me, making me feel ill at the thought of falling. Imagine if you can, feeling sick every time you have to make a jump in this game that is at a decent height, it is quite stressful. I am hoping it will lessen like it did in the first game. Aloy's "almost fall" animations definitely do not help. Other than that, whilst the start of the Quest was a bit tedious overall I liked it quite a bit. On my way to The Eclipes hideout Scenery Well that didn't work out for you did it (SPOILER) Ol' mate Sylens, sort of spoilery and his prisoner, greatly diminished SPOILER Well that was a surprise MAJOR SPOILER but the quest did hint at it in Sylen's comments Scenery

I don't have a shot of the downed enemy in all honesty I cannot even remember what it was, it was big and looked like a Bellowback but I have not encountered one of those yet in this game but this shot is to show I was talking about Cauldron MU.

Some of the Cauldrons are absolutely incredible in this game, in my opinion. I love the variety. I thought the first game did pretty well with this, but Forbidden West really uses the new gameplay elements to vary them even more. I can't promise dazk won't hate some of them -- sorry, my friend -- but not all of them involve lots of heights. Reading everyone's comments makes me want to play again. I just played it in January, though, so I won't jump back into it just yet. Technically, I didn't fully complete Burning Shores this time, so I have that yet to finish.

Some of the Cauldrons are absolutely incredible in this game, in my opinion. I love the variety. Unfortunately, it's not always the heights but anxiety over making a more difficult jump. I think the Cauldrons are great from a gameplay and visual perspective, but I just need to zone out and try not to stress out about the jumping. On those towers where you collect the lenses it's also those narrow walkways, I get so worked up about Aloy falling off. In RL I'd have no dramas on those or if I had a rope attached to me, the rappelling freaks me out as well when Aloy takes the leap and before the rope shoots out.

I get that gut feeling too in just about every game with falling from great heights. But funnily enough AC Odyssey was so brutal about it that I got over it during the game. But the cure didn't last long after

But the cure didn't last long after Oh it's worse than that unfortunately for me but maybe a subject for a DM but it is just the anxiety of making a jump across a height or if my primitive brain deems there's a chance of failure of any sort of jump. Odyssey wasn't so bad for me as it was usually a player-based decision to jump off the cliff.

I most definitely did one-shot the boss machine in Mu but I am playing on Story, Sharpshot Bow to a weak point, I am not one to make stuff up, I hope my seven years on here proves that out. There was no Mob just one Machine that got released in the end fight. I wasn't calling you out, I know that you can oneshot big enemies on lower difficulties. And with mob I meant the general video game term for a hostile creature/enemy, not mob in the sense of a group of people Regarding TAU (spoiler if you haven't finished the Cauldron yet): The TAU endboss is a Widemaw (hippo). On higher difficulties you get two of them at once, hence the need for some serious use of consumables. As in real life, the hippos are no joke, especially in a closed arena with only one small piece of cover. At least that fight taught me how to evade their water/boulder attack easily - run towards them at I a steep angle. No need to even evade anymore, sprinting is sufficient. I love learning tidbits like this, feels very rewarding picking up on those tactics.
For today I am planning on playing some Machine Strike, get some missing machine parts for upgrades, and try to farm some money. Accidently spent too much money on armor sets (cosmetics game is endgame, that's just how it is), and now I am 800 shards short to buy the purple tear bow in Scalding Spear. Hmpf... mass extermination it is. Fanghorn/Lancehorn are looking promising, like in the first game. Shame that I don't have access to Harvest Arrows yet (if they even exist anymore).
