So yesterday only got to play for a tiny bit because my pain levels were a bit too high. Essentially cleared the last few things I found that I missed and visited Rost where Aloy mentioned that she seemed to have a thing for Varl even though he has mummy issues. So disappointed that the game doesn't at least let you commit to someone. Anyway went to Meridian, met Erend and checked out Olin's place, picked up Olin's sisters mission and the other side quests available there about the sword and the three people you need to help get to a worship site. And that was it. Aloy - some of the facial nuances and conversations are really well done in the game Found out Olin's motivation I really can't decide if I like Erend or not as a character.

They did resort to using nukes in what's now "the Forbidden West". So it failed? Or not failed? Did they stop because of certain reasons? I wonder. Going to start the story proper soon and will see if I pick anything up I missed previously. I assumed that they had used them and it was not totally effective and that they probably felt it would deny any possible surviving humans a chance to live. Maybe it would have also delayed Gaia beginning rehabilitating the planet.

Maybe it would have also delayed Gaia beginning rehabilitating the planet. I think I could have missed data points on this factor because I don't recall reading about it. Gaia has unlimited time, she can wait it out before rehabilitating the planet. One aspect against her would be power. However, if she goes into hibernation, power usage will be cut down. She can wake at certain intervals to check the status of the planet.
I really would like more information on the number of replicators on the planet, the effect of of atomic weapons against them other than; not effective. But I doubt the game provides it since the devs want it to go a certain way.

They did resort to using nukes in what's now "the Forbidden West". So it failed? Or not failed? Did they stop because of certain reasons? I wonder. They used them to slow their initial advance from the west, but there was another note later about why they didn't continue to use them. They had environmental data comparing nukes vs the Faro plague and I guess that was enough to convince them to stop.

Guerrilla @guerrillaPatch 1.05 for #HorizonZeroDawnPC is live now! There’s a variety of improvements to graphics and textures, as well as new crash fixes. Spiral note pad Read the Patch Notes here: guerrilla-games.com/read/horizon-zero-dawn-complete-edition-for-pc-patch-1-05-is-now-availablePATCH 1.05 (HRZ-PCR 105/5941535 18:58 - FRI SEP 11 2020) KNOWN ISSUESSome players are experiencing an out of memory error during the game optimization process. Some players are experiencing graphical settings issues, such as Anisotropic Filtering or HDR not working correctly. Some players are experiencing performance issues on specific GPUs or hardware combinations. We're aware of and continue to investigate issues that are not yet solved on both the player-compiled lists by u/EvilMonkeySlayer and u/Rampage572 - thank you! PATCH NOTES
Crash FixesFixed a crash in NetPresenceManager that some players experienced when entering the game or the benchmark from the main menu. Fixed a crash where the Steam SDK could crash on initialization when the game executable was started directly from installation folder rather than through Steam. Fixed a crash which would occur if the player pressed ‘Stop’ in Steam immediately after pressing ‘Play’. Fixed a startup crash when using Avast antivirus. Fixed a crash that could occur when VRAM was about to be oversubscribed. Graphical ImprovementsFixed an issue with Aloy’s hair not displaying correctly when the game is running above 30 FPS. Shader animations (e.g. hologram locks on doors, GAIA in cinematics, etc.) are no longer locked to 30 FPS, but running at unlocked framerate. Fixed an issue with flickering textures in main quest “A Gift from the Past”. Fixed an issue with flickering snow assets. Fixed an issue with flickering paintings in Song’s Edge. Fixed graphical corruption issues that only occurred on specific GPUs. Fixed an issue where the game would open in windowed mode instead of fullscreen when the player is using another window when booting the game. Fixed an issue where the game would not run in the correct resolution when switching from windowed to fullscreen. Added an option to turn off “blurry sidebars” in ultrawide resolutions and display black sidebars instead. Other improvementsAllow players to still boot the game even if the version of windows used is detected to be too low to run the game at a stable condition. Added an option to turn off controller vibration/rumble. Fixed an issue in the storing of the ‘permission to track data’ attribute of the player profile (subsequently re-asking for said permission). Fixed an issue where the opening cutscene music would not play if the player quits out and immediately begins a new game. Fixed an issue where inverting mouse controls also affected dialog tree choice input.

Regarding the use of nukes and the "Forbidden West": They only used them in parts of asia and maybe south pacific regions before realizing it's not helping. Not all countries there were using their current names anymore, so it's hard to pinpoint locations, but something along the lines of Thailand - Vietnam - Indonesia. Whatever changed the west, it wasn't nukes or fallout.

I wish they address the very weird magic machine flight at the Oseram camp for Erend's mission. Remember I mentioned shooting at a watcher that was tied down by the Oseram and it promptly flew off who knew where? Well the dang machine did it again except that it's the longleg tied right outside the camp. I shot off the shackles and expected to be attacked but nothing happened. I went out. No longleg. Did a scan. No Longleg. Dang, it flew off again. I went back in and removed the remaining Oseram mobs. When I happened to glance towards the entrance, I saw the yellow circle indicating someone was alarmed. I went to look. Well well, it's the prodigal Longleg. It must have wandered back from wherever it disappeared to. I shot it down and it wasn't where I expected it to be. Again?!Did another scan and found it in the stream below. Another thing that annoys me is the inability to affect mobs until the quest is updated. I was doing Talanah's quest; the last bit when she was ambushed. I spotted the attackers and began shooting them. I was puzzled when they kept moving around with three and more arrows sticking out of them. What?! I shot some more. No effect. I then realised that I have to get the quest to update and that was to move closer. It's extremely annoying but I reloaded to get back the arrows I wasted. I always do a save whenever I port to a camp site close to the mission area.

In the grave Horde this was the only data point I found re Nukes:

So yesterday finished Erend's Sisters Quest and chatted with the Sun King. Explored the Grave Horde which is a quest I really like and remembered to pick up the Power Cell. Just love all that climbing!!!!! Cleared the way for some parishioners to get where they needed. Finished Olin's quest and let him live.

So got some time in HZD yesterday, stopped Dervhal blowing up the city and let Avad know Aloy wouldn't be a replacement for his previous girlfriend. Then headed off to the Shadow Caja, saved Avhid or whatever his name is but seriously screwed up that fight by trying a new weapon and ended up meleeing half the enemies until swapping back to the Sharpshooter bow. Melee really is pretty ordinary in HZD and Aloy seems to go out of her waywhen attacking to deliberately get herself in a situation where cannot hit the person you are attacking or missing them even when she is facing then and they are in her face. Also had several arrows pass straight through enemies and register no damage. Next to clear the escape rout for Itamen and his mum by meeting three toed whoever he is. Then will jump to the DLC, looking forward to the new map, worried about getting smashed in combat. TIPS ARE WELCOME Pics Rode the elevator for the first time, didn't even know you could even for all the talk of it in the game!!!! Saved Meridian with Erend Aloy a bit concerned about being propositioned by the Sun King after being buttered up by him Saved this guy I love Vanasha, she's well written and sassy. Sylens is well written too, I like his flaws and that he can be wise and apologetic Scenery, I think Cross Process 3 is my favourite filter

Then will jump to the DLC, looking forward to the new map, worried about getting smashed in combat. TIPS ARE WELCOME Daemon machines are more aggressive. Stealth is super important with strong buffs for frost, fire and melee. Trip wires and ropecaster. The latter is important because even with armor and components stripped off, they will charge and melee until they're brought down. For the new big guys; bears actually. It's important to destroy the tanks on their shoulders and chests as quickly as possible to disable their range attacks. Fight at the edge of their territory. For arena type fights, stealth, tearblast, tiedowns help a lot. There're tunnels to take cover in in those arenas so look for them. It's usually located in the middle of the hillocks. For the last fight though, there is barely any cover. Your best bet is tie down, blow the tanks quick and shoot down the chillwater tanks the floating bots are carrying to freeze the big guy.

MOrning All....So after installing the newest Nvidia Game Ready Driver this morning, I ran the benchmark for HZD....and noticed a huge drop in supposed FPS performance even though none of the Settings had been altered. It went from a solid AVG of 60 (at 4K) all the way down to an average of 36. Not sure I believe that, but still it is puzzling. Furthermore, while I know that driving 4K at 60fps is still fairly illusive, to truly drive 4K at a completely stable, locked 60FPS that a 2080Ti is needed.....My set-up (and my GPU) are capable of reaching it....so I am wondering why, for a game that was designed with Recommended PC specs of an Intel 4770 (which I had in 2013-16) and a GTX 1060.... why with my current set-up am I only getting 37 FPS.
My current set-up is as follows:
CPU: Intel 6850K (six cores @ 3.6 Ghz per core) which isn't much different than the newest 10850K, except for maybe 100mhz per core and 2 more cores, which would result in minimal performance increase.
GPU: RTX 2080 Super FTW 3 Ultra Gaming
DDR4: 32GB G.Skill @ 2400Mhz
With these core components I can play games like ANTHEM and Fallen Order with all Settings maxed out, at 4K and a solid 60FPS (no tearing) or greater.....some even as high as 90 (with very minimal screen tearing due to the limitations of a 60hz monitor w/o G-Sync)......So why with HZD is my performance so poor?
On a similar note....I can no longer get FRAPS to run accordingly. It usually should show the FPS digits in the corner of the screen. This no longer happens, but somehow it does still manage to record and log the information.
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts to share on these topics....suggestions would be helpful.

I've just completed the main game.....Took me 22.5 hours to do only the Main Quest Story line....and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. As I said in a previous post, there are a few characters like Varl's mother, War Chief Sona, whose VA I thought wasn't the greatest (same can be said for Erend's VA) and some of the dialogue at times was a little amateur-ish...But that didn't stop me from enjoying the story and the game at large. I really enjoyed the story, one of the best I've played in recent years, and I really liked Aloy as a main character.
I am just about to start The Frozen Wilds....But now that I've completed the game and watched all the credits, mid-credit scenes and end scenes....now I really, really want to play The Forbidden West. I hope PC players do get to continue the story of Aloy and The Nora.

Wait for them to fall down on your side and then sprint + jump forward at the end. I would add; wait for the bridge to start falling towards the other end before running and jumping. You won't slide off the bridge. The key is to wait for the water to fill and tip the bridge.

I'm really stuck on the Path of Light puzzle Horizon Zero Dawn Frozen Wilds Restore Power to the System Shaman's Path....I've tried to watch three different videos and they're all very confusing. they just run all over the floor and turn the dial all willy-nilly with absolutely ZERO point of reference.
I can get some dials to glow, but others not, and I can't seem to make sense of it. I know it all has to flow back towards the center where you thrust your spear...But I really don't understand it without visual points of reference.
Does anyone have any tips how to solve it?

Here is the best walkthrough for that puzzle. I had to pause and take it one by one....But finally it was done. Only took me the past two hours! For anyone else who gets stuck on this silly puzzle

I'm nearing the end of the game, now. I'm speaking with Sylens at GAIA Prime, and I now recall why exactly I believed that Aloy is 19yo. Sylens specifically said that the mountain exploded 19 years ago, so she can't be older than that. GAIA gave the order to rebirth Elizabet just before exploding, and 9 months later (April 3022 I think) she was born.

So past two days moved the story along till the end and slipped in the last couple of side missions I came across or had outstanding. I love The Deep Secrets of The Earth and The Mountain that fell. Took my time and hopefully found every data point etc. I could, doing that and failing at the puzzles in Deep Secrets added 30 minutes!!!!! Is The Weave armour worth wearing? I have modded NG+ so have the DLC weapons but have only started trying them yesterday, love The Ice Cannon but it takes too long to load and The Storm Slinger is great too. Any recommendations for armour and best weapons for the DLC and is it really worth jumping to the DLC before the last battle in HZD?Pic's it's good to see a military person take responsibility Element Zero is this A record of Aloy being created? Hate this guy Sylens to the rescue Yep Aloy is pretty extraordinary Talking to Rost and an appointment with her creator
