Hahaha! He is a good-looking dude. I wonder if the pillow tries to kill you in your sleep? It would probably first ask permission. Nill is such a lovable psychopath. I always enjoy those interactions; particularly the ones in which he thinks Aloy is weird or exasperating. 😆 I might play HZD again soon. I seem to have ACO burnout, and I couldn't get invested in MEA in my most recent attempt. HZD never fails to seize my imagination. It's just entirely too beautiful and engrossing to be bored.

2nd Husband got readdicted to Horizon Zero Dawn, never finished it last year. He was only, like, a third of the way through when he decided he'd "just go do Frozen Wilds to get the best gear." I was like... "umm... I don't think it works that way, it was made to be a challenge to long term players." About an hour later he comes back and says, "ya, I don't think I was ready for the Frozen Wilds."

I can imagine I’d get stomped if I had both never previously completed the game and had spent a year away from it. TFW is no joke on the first PT. One cool thing with HZD is that the player should always have fairly ready access to suitable gear. I love having my Adept Such-and-Such of Doom, but it’s certainly not needed. The Lodge weapons made those trials worthwhile. Then, the new stuff added to NG+ fun. TFW stuff is sort of like “saving the best for last”, in my opinion. Those new outfits and weapons are all excellent. I tried playing MEA for a while, today. I wanted to play an Adept, but just couldn’t get into it. Biotic combos really needed a damage boost to make the Adept more comparable to other builds. Now, I’m debating another HZD PT. Weighed against it is the option to simply buy God of War this week. It seems to have a lot of good in its favor, so I’m leaning in that direction.

Being a quest fiend, I started scouring the land for those hunting grounds to get full suns at all locations so I could go back to Mother's Crown and rub it in that dude's face (I was sad to learn I couldn't rub it in anyone's face). But I saw that exclamation point, and bam I had shiny gold primal weapons.

But I saw that exclamation point, and bam I had shiny gold primal weapons. I think I knew about them from the quest log. It’s hard to recall. I know I had 15 Blazing Suns before ever bothering to enter the Lodge. Now, I usually drop in and do Talanah’s quest series about 2/3 of the way into the game.

Don't do what phoray's husband did and run ahead. Save TFW for last. If you want to complete it before the final story mission. That's cool. You could finish the game completely, though, and then go to TFW. Upon completion, HZD reloads you to "just before the end", as ME3 does. You could compete the main game, and then head for the Cut. Either way works. I only visit the Cut early in a NG+. The "recommended level" labels are to be taken seriously with that region. I'd not bother visiting it before level 45, assuming you're a player who competes most/all quests and achieves max level (level 50 in the main game) in games like this.

I always do TFW right after The Grave Hoard, since the path to The Cut is just above. The rest of the game I won't really be near the place again until The Heart of the Nora, but by then I got the majority of side content done.

I'm super picky about quest flow, like many others likely are. I develop a certain preference and rarely depart from it. With TFW, it often depends upon whether I want end-game Aloy or mid-game Aloy for TFW. The difference in Aloy's knowledge makes for cool differences. Of course, more knowledgeable end-game Aloy can always return to the Cut for some discussions. I tend to enjoy a few of the small conversations that only late-game Aloy can have. Man, just mentioning the Grave Hoard makes me want to play. This game is beautiful start to finish. It's honestly approaching perfection, after all of the updates. There are small things I might tweak, but it's damn near perfect. What an opening effort by GG. The assumed sequel will be my most anticipated game since ME3.

Thanks, Element Zero , now I have the urge to finish my NG+ must battle it off... do miss Nil, though. I wish Aloy didn't dislike him so much, It felt less immersive that she and I wasn't on the same page.

Yeah I might have to leave my asp hanging between stars for a while and play HZD again. The design of everything from sound upward is damn near perfect. I think what was really impressive was how invested I became in characters long dead, from Elisabet, Herres and even motherflippin’ Travis Tate.

Her responses differ depending on what you've completed already? In my NG+ I headed up to TFW as soon as I could, so she was still fairly n00by in terms of her knowledge. I'm going to start from scratch my next playthrough, so maybe I'll have to leave TFW til later in the game anyway.

Yeah if you got to Deep Secrets of the Earth before doing The Frozen Wilds, Aloy knows exactly what’s causing the expansion’s conflict, plus more dialogue with CYAN.

Yeah, as kaisershepard says, Aloy’s in-game discoveries weigh into her understanding of events in the Cut. If she knows the secrets of the Old Ones, things about certain NPCs, etc... it impacts dialogue options and the depth of conversations.

Drat, didn't realise that overriding a Cauldron would force you to be taken back to the entrance, costing me a ton of loot in the process. Thankfully looted the Fire Bellowback first, but still miffed that I can't re-enter the cauldron again to claim the rest of the stuff I left behind.

Anything you found in there would soon be replaced, if it’s any consolation. You’ll know the deal in the rest of them. I think I’ll play HZD again upon finishing my MEA PT. It’s impossible to ignore for more than a few months.

I guess it doesn’t help that I always start a new game rather than using NG+.

Ugh, some of the hunting trials are a complete nightmare (especially the stealth ones). Thankfully, I only need two more Blazing Suns from there, but I'm going to have to leave it until I get some better gear. There's only so many times you can get body slammed by Watchers and deplete your entire stock of health potions before you end up rage-quitting. (Especially when you remember you're playing on Normal, which means it shouldn't really be this difficult, should it?)
