As much as I'd have loved to see the other, more nuanced, side to the Batarians, I think whatever small chance we got of that got definitely buried with the in-world explanation they gave for the Batarian MP character. 

No need for Batarian Ark, just get a bunch on Quarian Ark.

Not all Batarians are criminals nor Hegemony loyalists.

tbh the only thing I like about Batarians is blinding them one eye at a time. Although t obe fair as Shepard we only saw the bad side to the Batarians

That in-game explanation for the Batarian character is undoubtedly the dumbest explanation I've ever heard. I hope they add them to a novel or something. Nothing wrong with Batarians launching an ark a century later with more advanced tech that arrives in Andromeda at the same time as the initiative.

They don't need a dlc. All they need are a news terminal email that discusses the surprise when a batarian was woken from stasis when they expected a salarian, and also add the harpoon gun to SP.

As much as I'd love a little side mission with the two batarians who arrived on the salarian ark, I think the above is the best we can hope for and something that Bioware should be presented with as an idea. Repeatedly. Until they cave in.

I think they deserved to have one as a squad mate somewhere in the original trilogy, especially with Shep's potential history. What I've found interesting about reading Mass Effect Revelation, Ascension and Retribution (since yesterday, I read quickly!) is that the batarians are mentioned as being on the cutting edge of medical science with some of the best medical facilities in Council space, and that they are merchants by nature, not warriors. Those two pieces of lore alone paint the batarians in a more interesting light, as it gives insights into their culture.

So, basically, batarians are like volus, only without regard to ethics?

I don't need the whole race but I'd love to see the batarian squadmate we should have had in the OT.

I'm with you on that one.  

I want BioWare to stand by what they said, axing some species in favour of creating new ones.  Don't give into to demands to bring every fucking species back just because someone asked you to. 
Cojones BioWare.  Cojones. 

What is that story, exactly? 

I haven't yet played with the character.
