Apex Elite packs in store now? 600k

If we're a bit pessimistic and assume normal UR packs have a 20% UR drop rate (it's a little bit higher, I think), then there's about a 26% chance that any given run of 6 will NOT have a UR- conversely, it's about 74% chance that you'll get at least one from spending 600K on normal boxes. To guarantee at least one UR from normal UR boxes, you have to spend 1 miliion.

So it's a little bit better on the guaranteed side, but it's MUCH worse on the side of getting more consumables and, now that there's a gorillion other cards, more XI-XX rare and below characters and more Concussive, Siphon, and Bulwark weapons (rare and below).

Unfortunately, it's a one-shot deal. I strongly recommend capping out on basic packs to get all of your common characters to rank 20 before buying this or you'll end up doing what I did... you'll get a bunch of common character ranks instead of higher ranking stuff.

But, you don't really get 10 things. you still only get 5.

You see, old Bioware thinks it's funny to tell you that you get 10 things and mislead you. What they do is give you 5 High end XP Packs, and guess what? That counts as 5 of your 10. So, you still only get 5 "cards" but one of them is actually 5 of the same thing. (for some reason Bioware thinks people care about high end XP packs, I certainly dont at all)

Elite Pack is a complete and utter rip off, very disappointed. For the 10 bucks in real money it costs you can get 3 of the Reserves/Premium packs or for 600k points you can get 6. The pay out isn't worth it and the "10 items" is a spin on words to get you to buy it. It's false.

I got better things from the Apex Elite pack for doing the mission, and that was free.

So, like the majority of this game, things weren't thought through properly. But, considering not many people are even working on this game anymore the money sure isn't going into the game is it? The money people spend on the Multiplayer stuff is probably going into Anthem, not Mass Effect Andromeda like it should be. 

I bought it and I have to say it was not worth it. Buying 6 Premium/Arsenal/Reserve Packs is a better deal.

Hmmm, I understood it as 10 items. I bought some Andromeda Points to get this pack and was like ..."Where's the rest?"...

I ended up talking to support and all about it, and they sent it onwards to their people and now I'm told to wait for a reply. If it's not meant to be 10 items they should learn how to word things so it's not that misleading then.

But if you haven't maxed rares you'll get far more rares from the 10 P/A/R packs. Even cost for cost, you get far more for 6.

Math because I am bored.



So somewhere around 75%-80% of the time, buying 6 P/A/Rs is a better deal than buying 1 Apex Elite pack.

Now here's something else that is interesting. If you can arrange to go at least 4 packs in a row without a UR, then you can use the pity timer (guaranteed UR on 10th pack of same type, if previous 9 packs contained 0 URs) to make your odds of getting a UR 100% for this particular run of 6 packs. Either you get 1 UR "naturally" somewhere in the next 5 packs, or you are *guaranteed* to get one in the 6th pack.

What are the chances of going 4 packs in a row *without* getting a UR?



So about 33%-40% of every run of 4 packs will leave you sitting on a 0 URs. That is common enough that when you're buying a lot of P/A/Rs you will come across it frequently. Which makes me think that the Apex Elite Pack is definitely not worth it.

Another way to look at this would be:

In any given sample of (lots of P/A/Rs), randomly pick six in a row. What are the chances that those six packs do NOT contain a UR?

This is slightly different than the first calculation. In fact, it is sufficiently complex that I don't have the math understanding to figure it out, so I will leave this exercise for someone else.

But I suspect it will make the Apex Elite Pack an even worse deal.

Seeing as I get roughly 1 UR per 10 premium packs, paying 600k for a guaranteed UR is worth it. 

For the lucky folks getting 1 in 6 or less, it is not worth it. 

Say, does anyone actually know what is the chance of getting a multi-UR apex pack drop? Both of the freebie ones I got only gave me 1 UR card so far.

I bought it too and I got 1 UR, 2 crappy rares and some random stuff. Not touching it again.

Since my weapon priming combo spamming huntress is my go-to char for plat games, I'd far rather get her a few more ranks, rather than play Lottery with URs right now. So 6 reserve packs for me please, no fries.

Issue is that I do prioritize characters over weapons. There are 7 rare characters but 26 (?) weapons. So I figure if I want to get Huntress and Merc to XX before getting exciting things like Charger S (and god forbid all the new variants of thereof) to X, I am better off with reserve packs.
