Witcher is overrated. Come at me To each their own, but TW3 is my favourite gaming experience ever, and it took a lot to earn it since it had to beat Ocarina of Time, with all the childhood nostalgia it carried along. I still hate to see it used to to spew hate on other games though.

Witcher is overrated. Come at me I played TW1 for an hour and got bored, so my opinion is totally valid, amirite? I have all three games (Two in Steam, one in GoG.com) and as much as I wanted to get into it... I couldn't get immersed. I couldn't make that connection as Geralt. I still recognize it's a great, solid game. It is a very good game and yet, it's just one of those that couldn't hook me. It has nothing to do with the setting (this is my favorite fantasy setting), the storytelling (which is brilliant) or the graphics (every character is beautifully rendered). Anyway, I get why people love it and I don't begrudge them for it. CDPR made a 10/10 that I find uninteresting. I get exactly where you're coming from. The Last of Us is another one that I really got into and struggled with because aiming is a m*****f***** with a joystick. However, that's a masterpiece as well. BioWare has never made a title that I didn't exhaust until I was satisfied that I knew all or 99% of the lore.

Yep, for I am pretty sure people are spouting off about Andromeda with playing the same amount if not less. I tried all three games, but never to completion they just were not fun to play for me.

It's not a shortcoming of the game or story, but I just can't connect with a male protagonist. I haven't played one in a very long time, except for one ME playthrough as Sheploo, so I know this is an "It's not you, it's me" thing. I wish I could because I want to know what the fuss is all about, but every time I've tried o just can't do it.

I can't play a female protagonist myself and I miss out on games that (rarely) have a lead, female protagonist. I like the fact that I can build my character (even though it was limited in Mass Effect) and allow for my own input to matter. I'm inflexible in that regard.

Witcher is overrated. Come at me MEA is better than ME2. Come at ME. I agree with you. I love the whole "all or nothing" feel to ME2, but overall... Andromeda, patch 1.09, is really great. It seems like a lot of effort to make a game polished, post-launch, to just abandon it. Anyway, I get where you're coming from.

I can't immerse myself playing a female protagonist as she struggles with the same concept for a male one.

The story, characters, graphics, inventory system, and combat all sucked for the all the hype that CCPR made that wanted to make a great console game, TW2 was a lousy first impression. Maybe Cyberpunk 2077 will be better if they don't get hacked again (which makes me weary of any company to begin with but this also has the benefit or problem depending on your own personal POV so they can control all of the marketing) and if they ever get the damn thing made before 2077.

Actually, I can relate to this post. I never play as a female character in RPG's. In fact, I have played the OT countless times but I never played it as Femshep once. Luckily for me, Geralt is a male and I also really enjoyed his personality. So I had no trouble connecting with him in any way. Can understand that this situation might be more troublesome for other people though.

For me all three games were never given much of a chance beyond the first 10-15 hours. I can't explain why, except that it "just didn't work for me." That's not answer to a designer or developer because it explains nothing. I guess I wanted more flexibility (even though BioWare still has issues EVERY TITLE with horrible UI-designs) or something that I can attach that makes it personal to me.
Personal revelation. We had a breakthrough.

Go figure. Imagine one missing such experience because of a trivial thing. Imagine missing HZR, I can't. It is. It's a real thing. However, I get why the games are great. It just sucks that I can't enjoy it. The problem is with me, not the game itself. I will never bash those games. I respect the art and polish that went into them. It's one of those titles that I admire from the outside, looking in. I can sit and watch my friend play the Witcher 3, Uncharted series, Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn, like a TV show. However, getting into it myself, the dripline is empty, man.

Geralt doesn't allow any real customization. I would've loved to be a Witcher, but as my own custom protagonist. When it's like this, I usually just pass the control to my friend Paul who will turn the game into a TV show for me. I still enjoyed it as a passive watcher. It's not the "git gud" part either. I just have little patience with joystick-only games. Gaming mouse and keyboard (with a separate keypad) are my bread and butter. I play sports game with an X-Box controller for PC, so I'm used to controllers. I know the Witcher 3 can be used for K+M, but again... that's not the issue. It's just I can't connect with Geralt or a female protagonist. I know... silly. It does suck.

It's fine. It just sucks, really. I mean, there's so many amazing experiences I got into, can't picture myself in a life where I missed such thing. What's your issue with TW3 again? Geralt? I guess. I know... silly. HIt does suck. I see. Perhaps it's a matter of perspective, it's not your character in some ways, and sometimes, I really appreciate. It's like I'm watching someone's story instead of role-playing something and having to keep that someone faithful to my idea. In fact, I rarely role-play, I just play it while choosing the dialogue option. As for Witcher, I feel the difference, it's a breath of fresh air for me. I'm just picking options that would fit Geralt's character regardless of the pick, while enjoying the ride. But man, the game is just art, a beautiful experience. The art, music, characters, environments, everything has some life into it. Just a rich world. I think it would be great for you to one experience the whole thing. Can't gush enough about it. I rarely feel this way. The most obvious choice aside from TW3, in terms of importance in my gaming history, would be ME3, another game that stuck with me long after beating, in a good way actually. Again, so much great stuff to miss out :/.

Seems like this is a Witcher thread, so here's my take:
Witcher 1 - decent enough story, gameplay was weird and took adjusting to, but I became competent fairly quickly and enjoyed the game more or less. Best parts for me was the pr0n..
Witcher 2 - decent enough story, I guess. Moar pr0n, witch is fine, but gameplay for me is absolute crap, and I have quit playing half way through for months now.
I own 3, and haven't touched it, but I'm not in any hurry - I got it for free with my strix gtx970.
I'm not in a hurry, frankly, because nothing is really that great. It is all just ok, for me. Meh.
