There are children and fat people, but they're all in cryos.
Drain for the resources until first self-sufficient city can be build.

Not sure if trolling, but it makes sense to leave the obese out of that journey. As for kids, there was only one. The emotional assault in ME3.

They had one of those things like they have at the airport to check the size of your carry-on baggage. If you couldn't stuff your rolls into the frame, you wouldn't fit in the cryo pod.

Check the codex...they earmarked a section of the Cryo called "the Refrigerator" to used in case they run out of rations/supplies searching for a homeworld or the Nexus

It makes perfect sense... 600 years worth of cryostasis is probably hard on the body and people going into it obese probably don't have as good a chance at survival as people who are fit. Ditto for the very old and the very young (who are still growing and developing). The Initiative would have almost certainly had a selection process that would have favored those most likely to survive the cryo. The game also mentions that birth controls were put in place to ensure that no children were born until they had viable colonies to sustain them. At that point, they would want reproduction to occur as quickly as possible and the birth controls would be stopped... so adults of breeding age and ability would likely be favored over those too young or too old. Tokenism for the sake of tokenism (which is what you're suggesting by saying that there should be 1 fat person and 1 child) is what doesn't make sense.

"plot is unrealistic."
Alien races and humans travel intergalactically in cryosleep to find Scourge, Remnant and Kett mysteries.
You're looking for realism in the wrong place.

I wonder how the krogan were able to fit in the pods? Once you take their armor off, they are basically toads with giant heads. The controls for the arms and legs are in the suit.

20k in the human arc and no children? considering majority of western countries have a high obesity rate, a majority of the ark should be obese and why arent there any children. soo unrealistic In my opinion Bioware fails at creating realistic and immersive worlds/enviornments. They are good at creating stories and great at creating characters, but their world immersion is something that is really lacking especially when other AAA games like Assassin's Creed and Witcher 3 feature children.

Yeah, kid... we're f***ed. Reapers are gonna turn us all into mindless husks and we'll be forgotten. Sorry you're an orphan and all. If I were you, I'd do whatever the f*** I want right now. I guess they should've added more ambient sounds of babies crying in the background to keep the already darkened mood, darker...

My general reaction is, "wtf is this kid doing here? I will likely have to kill someone soon." It's easier when they're not around, and no, it doesn't hurt my immersion at all.

They are good at creating stories and great at creating characters, but their world immersion is something that is really lacking especially when other AAA games like Assassin's Creed and Witcher 3 feature children. Okay, why would the Initiative release the children from cryostasis? Almost the entire game is about stabilizing the Initiative so that the Andromeda galaxy can become livable. In the beginning, the Initiative were low on rations, power, had no functional colonies and were under an alien threat. Why would they release children from cryo? The children would have been a waste of resources because they wouldn't have been able to contribute like the adults could. Later on, the same applies because the Initiative is still not stabilized and so there's no reason to bring children out of cryo because, again, what can they contribute? Unlike in the OT, the presence of children would have been unrealistic and subtracted from the immersion because it'd have made no sense for the Initiative to take the children out of the freezer when they were still on the stabilizing stage.
