Andromeda was a missed opportunity for new squadmates

Yep, long time ago I said that BW have this Human-Asari-Turian syndrome. So we got 1 Turian and 1 Salarian character. That's absolutely fine. Humans ? Pathfinder, Cora and Suvi is more than enough, Liam should be replaced with some Batarian/Drell character, same with Asari - PeeBee is ok, but Lexi as a doctor could be even a Volus - some bit crazy and funny doctor. Lack of diversity, no more - no less.
Other thing is, that our crew origin stories are really bland - suddenly everyone would like to discover something. No one who really need to escape from Milky Way, who would like to change his life ? Eh.

In some ways you can even say that about the Ryder's since dear ol' dad basically got the family blacklisted due to his AI research.

This thread is based entirely on your personal assumption that what we got was bad and what you think is good is objectively good. A very false premise which will lead nowhere. It's a matter of taste and I enjoyed what we got in terms of squadmates thus making the notion of a "missed opportunity" your personal view which won't add anything to the objective problems of the game.

Ooh absolutely right. I was more talking in response to the OP wanting a black female, not my actual desire for different ethnicities. More saying shouldn't he/she be requesting Asian over black female because of "SJW crap". I totally agree with your point.

I think adding in a larger number of squad mates would have been more cumbersome... dragged the story out even more with more pacing problems than it already has.  I'm happiest with a smallish "cast" of main characters.

You know, there's a lot to be said on the weak turnout we got. But reading this sentence makes me stop in my tracks. Why not a black female squadmate?

Sometimes it's just nice to imagine 'what if?' It doesn't have to go anywhere but it is fun to speculate. And maybe Bioware will take onboard some of these ideas and bring them into fruition. I'd love if they added a Batarian Squadmate via SP DLC. Probably won't happen but it'd be nice. The point of the thread was to make Bioware think about these opportunities. What we got was a copy-paster set of squadmates. But we've never had a Batarian Squadmate before so that would have been a good thing to introduce to ME:A. It would have been new and ground-breaking with a unique perspective. Hell Garrus even said that one of his crew was a Batarian before Sidonis ratted them out and got his crew killed.

And here i am judging characters as individuals. MEA is probably biowares third best cast. Sure there is no Cassandra Pentaghast or Garrus Vakarian but there is also no Oghren or Liara either.

Why are you always so hostile towards people that have anything critical to say about the game?

On the topic at hand, yes, I'd have loved them to be a bit more experimental. I'm so bored of having the usual human, turian, asari and krogan team mates. Give me a powerful hanar biotic, a stowaway geth, and a Virtual Alien that wanted to escape the confines of the Ark of Antilin.

Just give me something new.
