I know thatAndromeda's problem is folks not setting the PTT but I had it working just fine till yesterday, when the game still can see my mike on, but does not pick up.... anyone had experience with it? I have never been able to get the mic working on my mp matches (double/triple checking the settings), so I always have to play silent. At least in pugs. If playing with friends, we just use Skype or Discord. Not much help, but I feel your pain. ]

I wasn't aware that 'mic' was allowed to be spelled as 'mike'. It makes even less sense than just pronouncing it as such. Then again, spelling and pronunciations in English, whether it be British or American, don't seem to have a lot of logic in the first place to begin with... It's not as bad as French in that regard, but still...

Sometimes the mic just stops working. Just like the sound disappearing otherwise. Different system devices. MEA weirdness, as intended... Check that MEA didn't change input devices or talk key. If it didn't, restart the game. Usually works.

But I did some reading on the subject, and the audience is a bit divided about the subject: www.sambayer.com/tirades/whymike.htmlAs for me: we Dutch usually don't abbreviate "microphone" (microfoon), and we pronounce it as meecro-phone instead of mike-ro-phone. Secondly: I had a ZX Spectrum in the '80s. One of the ports connecting it to the tape recorder was called 'Mic'.

If you know the install location, try finding the game application and 'Run as Admin' instead of launching from Origin. If running the game in fullscreen, try windowed borderless. If your headset is plugged into the front of your pc, try plugging it into the back ports, then restart your pc.

Secondly: I had a ZX Spectrum in the '80s. One of the ports connecting it to the tape recorder was called 'Mic'. Mike is definitely the most accepted spelling but, as you say, TO, the opinions on proper use are rather divided these days. I wonder if that abbreviation on device ports led to the introduction of the word around 1961. Every language has pronunciation and spelling differences, afaik. In Dutch, for instance, we have it between 'blouse' and 'trouwen', 'baby' en 'beek'. Loan words are often involved. If you're really interested, there's this educative poem called The Chaos about English spelling and pronunciation - written by Gerard van Nolst-Trenite, a Dutchman - which reflects what you're saying quite well: ncf.idallen.com/english.html. With regard the vice versa - i.e. two identical words meaning different things - I often hear people say Chinese is gruesome in that respect. Yet Dutch has this as well, just consider the sentence "Het kan voorkomen dat ik niet kan voorkomen dat jij met jouw voorkomen moet voorkomen." (For the Undutch: "It can occur that I can't prevent your having to come before court with that appearance", in which 'voorkomen' means 'to occur', 'to prevent', 'appearance' and 'to come before court" respectively). Back on topic, however, we should really check our mics mikes instruments whereby sound waves are caused to generate or modulate an electric current usually for the purpose of transmitting or recording sound...

Just to add to a pointless discussion: If the word "Mike" is transmitted through a microphone, and the context doesn't clearly indicate that "Mike" is a name, preferably spelled out to avoid misunderstanding, "Mike" is to be interpreted as the letter "M", as per common communications standards.

I did run as Admin, had all the devices set properly in the game, deleted and repaired Profileoptions file forcing the reset of keybinds, left it at default Ralt and went through every setting under audio devices and Realtek menu. Drivers are up to date according to selfdiagnostics. All I can think of is reinstalling the game completely from scratch in hopes that some internal setting somewhere got corrupted, so once reinstalled, the initial enthusiastic vigor with which the game picked the sound of the mikes will reassert itself. I saw that some folks could force the issue in other games by removing the devices from hardware lists, and forcing the redetect so I guess I will go there if the game reinstall does zip. That's just too weird.

Have you tried boosting the mic in the Realtek options? There might be some cut off, as when I'm speaking normally into my mic, nobody hears me, but when boosted just a notch or two (20%? Can't check right now), I'm received clearly.

OP, I've had that happen to me as well. I restarted my computer then the game, everything went back to normal. I chalked it up to the sound issues this game has since I lose game audio still on regular basis.

Don't have any other third party VOIP installed.

Maybe try setting the computer back to an earlier restore point time if you had it working before.

Three of us have had mic issues, mine just recently since Creators update and a couple of friends that could never hear me (in one case anyone) via in-game chat.
This has fixed it for all of us.
Go into Online settings and turn VOIP off completely Save settings Go back into Online again and turn VOIP back on as Push To Talk Save settings again.
Hope it helps.

But this is more thorough. I repaired it a few times prior to the reinstall, including after deleting a file that saves your profile options that someone shown to be a potential culprit in DA3MP set-up.... so, repair did not detect anything corrupted.
