Mike suddenly stopped working?

I wasn't aware that 'mic' was allowed to be spelled as 'mike'. It makes even less sense than just pronouncing it as such.
Then again, spelling and pronunciations in English, whether it be British or American, don't seem to have a lot of logic in the first place to begin with...

It's not as bad as French in that regard, but still...

Sometimes the mic just stops working. Just like the sound disappearing otherwise. Different system devices. MEA weirdness, as intended... Check that MEA didn't change input devices or talk key. If it didn't, restart the game. Usually works.

Mike is definitely the most accepted spelling but, as you say, TO, the opinions on proper use are rather divided these days. I wonder if that abbreviation on device ports led to the introduction of the word around 1961.

Every language has pronunciation and spelling differences, afaik. In Dutch, for instance, we have it between 'blouse' and 'trouwen', 'baby' en 'beek'. Loan words are often involved. With regard the vice versa  - i.e. two identical words meaning different things - I often hear people say Chinese is gruesome in that respect. Yet Dutch has this as well, just consider the sentence "Het kan voorkomen dat ik niet kan voorkomen dat jij met jouw voorkomen moet voorkomen." (For the Undutch: "It can occur that I can't prevent your having to come before court with that appearance", in which 'voorkomen' means 'to occur', 'to prevent', 'appearance' and 'to come before court" respectively).

Back on topic, however, we should really check our mics mikes instruments whereby sound waves are caused to generate or modulate an electric current usually for the purpose of transmitting or recording sound...

Just to add to a pointless discussion: If the word "Mike" is transmitted through a microphone, and the context doesn't clearly indicate that "Mike" is a name, preferably spelled out to avoid misunderstanding, "Mike" is to be interpreted as the letter "M", as per common communications standards.

Have you tried boosting the mic in the Realtek options? There might be some cut off, as when I'm speaking normally into my mic, nobody hears me, but when boosted just a notch or two (20%? Can't check right now), I'm received clearly.

Yes, tried it at all three boost settings.

and, no, nothing running on the background, and I even uninstalled Discord to make sure nothing interferes. Don't have any other third party VOIP installed.

Unfortunately, restarts did not help, I was doing it after changing the settings.

anyway, I left the game reinstalling.... after which save for hoping that next drivers update will magically cure it.... or asking the computer really nicely....

Thank you, I will try that. I did switch back and forth between Always On and PTT. I did not realize you could turn VOIP off completely... okay, definetly something to try!

forgot about this. A friend of mine did the same thing to fix her mic. Try it. Good luck!
