I wasn't aware that 'mic' was allowed to be spelled as 'mike'. It makes even less sense than just pronouncing it as such. Then again, spelling and pronunciations in English, whether it be British or American, don't seem to have a lot of logic in the first place to begin with... It's not as bad as French in that regard, but still... It is worse than French. But French grammar is just terrible. Ontopic though; check your push-to-talk settings. Most importantly the designated button.

Heh, we can communicate and transmit data with satellites in interstellar space using 1970s technology. We've had working voice coms for the masses over public Internet since, what, 1994? First used Roger Wilco for games late 1999. My high school students can't imaginative a time without these tools, because they've never lived in one... Thus, one ought to expect a simple, no fuss solution for speaking with three other players in a new game, right? Surely all mistakes have been made already, and there's no way to frak up such a basic thing anymore...

Yes, and in case of the unforeseen, having a text chat window in a game instead of relying on bringing the Origins up during an MP match that is designed to be fast paced is another no-brainer.....

Tell that to Psyonix, the makers of Rocket League, who haven't been able to make it work for 3 platforms.

Well, fine. Forget sound, it's so last century. Give us an interpretive dance option! It suits our modern need for spiritual self-expression in the paradox world of virtual collective alienation.
EDIT: Shooting a gun in Morse code may be an option worth exploring.

Sadly, there's no link that can help you solve yours. That's because there isn't a link for how to make average people understand genius.

EDIT: Shooting a gun in Morse code may be an option worth exploring. If you do use Morse code, please format messages using the ACP 124, and stick to regular ACP 131 signals to avoid confusion, being common standards and all. Also easy to learn. Localized formatting and signals always makes a mess of things. If using macros or scripts, ACP 127 is helpful too; it's mostly ACP 126 (radio teletype) for automated (originally tape) signalling. ^_~ As for interpretative dancing... I have a feeling dance moves isn't Bioware's forte.

That's a good use for the second gun slot. Fire Rate + Turbocharge + Machine Gun, and VOIP will become a thing of the past! So long as you don't run out of ammo mid-sentence.

A bunch of clowns that think they are funny, but really aren't. Hey, killa is top 5 in PS4 APEX points, that's funny. Maybe he's Mike? (no offense, killa) No killa works, just not in the summer, how else could he have afforded all those damn andromeda points?

No dice. Reinstalled the game, replugged the headset and restarted the game with every one of three VOIP settings. I am out of ideas, and just hope that one day there will be a miraculous sound recovery. oh, well, silence is golden. (Sniffle, sniffle)

It's in game only where the sound does not get picked up, despite it seeing the Realtek. Gremlins....

Just an honest question because I haven't got around to testing/using my microphone yet: How can one tell that the microphone does or doesn't work in-game? Are you supposed to hear yourself talking?

Yes, I just checked in game. When I'm in a lobby, hit PTT and talk, I can (somewhat faintly) hear myself. If I tap the microphone, I can also hear this. Lastly, when your microphone is activated and you make sounds, your microphone icon turns from blue to white and displays 'sound waves' next to the microphone icon: (((mic-icon))) in the lobby and mic-icon))) in game if I'm not mistaken...

Bit thick, especially since I was in that thread. Anyway, it isn't quite as you say: Origin and in-game PTT settings should be separate. The guy in the thread you mentioned just had the in-game key changed...

The guy in the thread you mentioned just had the in-game key changed... How is that not what I said? Well, now that I read what you said again, I realise my interpretation might have been different. I understood it as the two keybindings conflicting yet you probably meant the player in question confused the two. Hence my previous post. Anyway, the player in question claimed his PTT keybinding in Andromeda was 'wiped', it wasn't his confusion that was the problem...

In-game Settings > Controls > Keybindings is where you can find this, fyi... It worked before, and I have tried keeping it at default keybind as well. I can bind it to Ctrl, but the thing is, it's not just PPT that does not work, the microphone in the game does not pick the voice even if I have set up to "Always On". I will rebind it to the same Ctrl it has in Origins, but my feeling is it's not the bind, it's some obscure setting somewhere I messed up when I tried to fix echo. My troubles started with the last time Drivers got updated, when I lost the headset sound altogether (and yes, I turned off and unplugged backup speakers). When I got it back, I got echo, fixed that, then the voice got lost altogether. Anyway, makes me more determined to buy a console next time I am shopping for a gaming set-up. (sigh) it sucks.

I'm aware you already said so, but your mic does work in other environments, like the windows desktop, Origin itself, Steam?
