If you wanted to make a circle for us to keep enemies from, you could have made an objective like that directly. "Draw fire away from the space thing until it can do its space thing. Also stay away because space reasons." But no, you went full Picard. Then you change it to "Well, here is the line, but just try not to give them too much of a reason to cross it, and you probably shouldn't take it too literally..." And we are like, "Wtf? What have you done?" And you twitch or tweet or queef something about us needing new strategies, completely missing that that is the point.

I honestly love platinum hacks. Nothing more fun in the entire game than tanking them with a squad.

I actually just got kicked tonight midmatch for the first time ever, because I was standing in the circle and then as I was loading out, I realized exactly what they were doing and had to facepalm at myself.

I believe someone at BioWare mistook "challenge" for "annoyance" in design of the new hack. It is not hard or challenging, just annoying, badly implemented by devs who merely balanced objectives for Bronze.
So far I've done roughly 150+ Plat runs (in fact I only played Plat besides daily missions since patch 1.09), most of the time my team could extract, but the ones we failed, 9 out of 10 were on wave 6 hack (the other 10% were probably due to unplayable laggy hosts). For me, Plat without hack is pretty much a faceroll. Now you see the problem, if a game's 90% difficulty lies in one single type of objective, then something is seriously wrong.

It is not hard or challenging, just annoying, badly implemented by devs who merely balanced objectives for Bronze. I actually find this to apply for the design of the entire game. Instead of well designed challenge, it's all annoying. Why I can only handle this game in very short bursts, basically just APEX. Before Platinum I always wondered how they were going to increase difficulty with what they've got, as I was seriously stumped myself. But of course, make it more annoying.

I don't have a regular squad on X1 so I'm often pugging it and carrying on plat. All it takes is one of 'those' hacks (e.g. centre platform, zero) and its game over man, game over.

Even with perfect team coordination and zero enemies entering the hack, the hack takes too. damn. long. It is more tedious than fun.

My main issue with the hack is that it's often too hard to get the attention of the AI and sometimes it just seems to decide - fuck it, I am rushing the hack zone. I saw this very clearly yesterday when we got a hack on Sandstorm/Plat because I had good visibility of the map. So we've got 3 people pulling the enemy to the other direction (me on the roof to the right, someone down to the right and another person on the other platform) and our infiltrator is doing the hack. I am literally standing on the roof on Plat and nothing is shooting me. I am spamming everything I see with Snap freeze and Flakking Berserkers and they just turn their back on me and rush to the infiltrator in the hack. WTF, just WTF. I know the Batarian is fugly as shit and maybe that's why enemies are running away from me but still... it hurts my feelings. P.S. We completed it, it was just freaking annoying. As hacks are. I feel that they are more stupid annoying difficulty based more on luck more than anything else (on Plat). Another example. Hack spawns, you go there - enemy has spawned on top of hack. Fine, everyone goes away to the other end of the map, pulls the enemies around, infiltrator gets back there cloaked. Destroyers still in the hack zone, humping the spot as if it was the box of shame on Firebase Rio. Excellent.

Last night I found a PUG room with 20,000 Apex rating players, all 4 of us. So we ran the Apex Platinum mission a few times. Scrapper, Human Sentinel, Huntress, Salarian Infiltrator.
First 3 times, we raced right through them with no issue. However, we didn't get a single hack but did get 3 Uploads which we managed to do fairly easily.
The last 2 attempts, we failed both because of wave 4 hacks! Wave damn 4. The first time was in the room close to extraction on Sandstorm, but the one that's completely inside. Tanking failed, because there wasn't enough distance from doorways to keep berserkers out or damage them before they got into the room.
So 2 of us tried taking their aggro, 2 invisible players stayed in the hack. Berserkers and other enemies just never left the rooms. No matter how much we shot at them from outside the doors, the berserkers would not leave the hack with the invisible players in there....so that run failed.
The 5th game, we got another wave 4 hack... same room except closer to the extraction where the hack is half in/half out the room. Had 2 taking aggro and still ran into the same problem. The hydras this time would not follow the aggro and stayed in the hack the entire time. We would kill 1 hydra, only for another to enter the hack again.
The enemy logic and respawn rate of bosses add to the stupidity of hacks right now.

Oh right that reminds me I've been meaning to complain about this.
In ME3 it was possible to kill certain enemies to stop them from spawning on a wave. Ex. on Cerberus Gold wave... 3? 6? you could kill enough Dragoons that they would stop spawning. This would keep them off you during Devices (or Hacks for that matter).
In MEA it doesn't seem possible to kill enough enemies to stop them from spawning. It's like every enemy has infinite wave budgets on objective waves. So you cannot play smart any more.
If it were possible to kill enough Krogan Berserkers or Anointed or whatever the "rush" units are on each faction you could at least play smart on the Hacks.

Maybe if they made hacks work like in ME3MP where your progress won't regress? But they had to make you lose progress to raise the difficulty. Also, put hack zones in indefensible locations on the maps. And design the enemy AI to park themselves in hack zones instead of chasing players who are actively attacking them.

I agree, the required hack time vs. time allowance needs balancing. I was thinking about other ways they could salvage this. But then poor enemy spawn points wouldn't help with keeping the progress bar solution either. Oh, well.

Really curious on why people are having trouble with hacks... just shoot the dam enemies and kill them....and when more comes around the corner...kill them. If people are having issues handling the same idiot bots that are in brone... its the player who is the issue.

If hacks are going to be interrupted by every invisible dog that sets its paw over the line, the time required needs to be drastically reduced. As it stands, it's like watching paint dry.

Hacks shouldn't be much of a problem. But when nobody enters the Hack circle (not even the Infiltrator), it can get a bit problematic to complete...

One of two things, they lack the skill level or the raw materials (manifest) needed to tank stuff on the highest difficulty level. Either get good or get better gear before crying to the devs that platinum is difficult. Its supposed to be if you suck/dont have the necessary gear. Its a joke. We breeze through 15 minute games regularly now without any effort. We talk and BS like we used to on gold.
