I actually cried tears of joy when I read this. I LOVE Casey. I prayed to god he would return to games, and hopefully BW. God answered! And my guess is god gave him one fucking mighty paycheck to do so. This speaks volumes about MEA and Anthem's future. I think him coming back right now, when Anthem would need him and after the way MEA went says a lot about where EA/BW priorities are. He made MET amazing. Fuck the ending. The trilogy holds solid to date. If he had not left, MEA would have been a gift from the gods and we'd all be living in an alternate reality.
Welcome back Casey. Your return to BW makes me far happier than it probably should.

The guy who dreamt up the ME3 ending, and the whole "let's go to Andromeda" thing coming back is a good thing? With co-responsible Mac Walters still there. Why should this be good? Because he's the guy that dreamt up Mass Effect in the first place. I feel like Mac's clearly the weak link here, after seeing his lack of vision for Andromeda.

What's confusing me is that people saying that he's back to 'save' mass effect (and even return to the milky way, Jesus let it go people) - well he's the reason Andromeda had to happen, as he basically ended the series. Deliberately too; a real burn the house down job. Fickle, that's what you all are. He's not back to save Mass Effect... he's back to save BioWare.

I do see people wanting ME:A (and beyond) to return to the high quality standard set by the original triology and Casey. Bioware can only gain from his comeback. Save

No. It's just an excuse when not agreeing with the consensus. There is no large scale "publishers paying off critics". Don't believe what some disgruntled people on forums write. The consensus? The moment when a games journalist was invited to voice a character that was when people became suspicious. What about the consensus? So what if a person that worked for a games publication got invited. She was not even a reviewer.

I... I don't know how to feel about this. The same here. I don't hate Hudson or anything but I don't know what he can do to "fix" or "correct" whatever internal problems that BioWare seem to has these days (and to be honest there are some problems he can't fix because of EA's constant melding), but on the other hand if he can at least try to help BioWare get back on track and if he succeeds then I'm all for it. When Casey left, a whole bunch of people exited right after him. His leaving (along with their leaving) threw the whole production cycle of MEA into chaos no doubt. If we are to believe the story about what happened to MEA, basically it fell apart with no one there to guide it. Anthem is probably in the same kind of shit show and I'd wager he was offered a hefty sum to return and get these shit shows back on track.

How can that be unknown? The guy was responsible for Knights of the Old Republic and all three Mass Effects. He cetainly can, and have, made great games. as a developer. Not a manager. And as i said given how badly they fumbled certain aspects of ME 3. I'm not necessarily going to greet this news with open enthusiasm. Especially since this comes with the loss of Flynn which had a history of being a good manager. What history? And indeed, this is a different function. But Hudson certainly showed that he can create masterpieces. We will see if he can use his talent in this new capacity.

Casey made Kaidan bi after two games of otherwise, as far as any player knew. Patches restore or add content. Fan demands are good and bad. Carry on, I'm sure you will. Aaryn made Jaal bi in 4 months lol And I consider that a plus compared to Kaidan.

And I consider that a plus compared to Kaidan. Yeah that's why I worry with Casey back regarding that stuff in the future. Maybe it'll be alright in the end, but time will tell. I will be watching Anthem closely. I don't think Casey had animosity. I think late 00s was just more Space Marine with Space Babes territory for gaming, as in rather, territory for marketing. That is, few will ruffle SO many feathers, and Casey's not one of those few. ME always moved in a generally progressive direction with every title. Hope I didn't trigger too many with the word 'progressive'. Game dev can have a clumsy aspect - even the most polished seeming titles - and while I wish Kaidan went quite differently, I'm glad they tried something out. Same as I'm on the side of glad they tried something with MEA through Jaal. Really a ME5 (or ME6, whatever the point it happens) with a homo male squadmate and I'll never want it again. Its not some rallying against Bioware for me, especially as I'm personally (from who/what I know) certain that there's many in there that would love to get to make that happen. And at that point, I'll have to, *gulp* start recognizing my level of privilege within the series and start advocating for *others* not like me 0_0. Anthem? Eh I dunno. Will there even be any RP worth a damn or is it strict static narrative?

Maybe ME:A was enough of a disappointment to EA that they wanted heads to roll. Maybe ME:A was a success for EA and Flynn is just moving on. If he were fired in the way described, we would never know as Flynn wouldn't be allowed to say and EA would never tell. I'm not saying I have the answers and frankly, like ME:A DLC, we don't know at this junction. My impression of MEA is that it did well, but not as well as hoped, and especially not as well as liked. So far nothing has deterred me from this. If this is the situation, then the series (and indeed DLCs) will continue, but as resources can shift to it, and with perhaps more acceptance to staff shakeups than otherwise. Just an impression, no need to debate or insist on things. All I basically said was, "we don't know..."
