Pretty likely the MCU is gonna be more-or-less DOA for phase 4, unfortunately Unfortunate, I agree. I just don't care anymore. And it's not that I don't like how they 'wrapped up' the Infinity Saga. Quite the opposite. It's just that the unique surprise of how well it all worked is no longer a card they can play. I'll still see - some, at least - of the movies, maybe even in theaters, assuming they ever re-open , but it is no longer appointment viewing. At least, not for me. The Thanos arc is a truly gargantuan achievement, unprecedented in film history. It isn't likely anyone will ever top it, including Di$ney/Marvel studios

Regardless of anyone's opinion about the quality, the fact that 20+ movies have been released & were profitable and all had interconnected characters and plot is a landmark of filmmaking. If you want to argue that some were disappointing you can't because I agree Also if you really think the MCU can top this arc then let's debate it

If you want to argue that some were disappointing you can't because I agree Also if you really think the MCU can top this arc then let's debate it When you said "Thanos ark" I was thinking about two movies where he is a big bad as well as a couple otheres where he had a cameo or an episodic role. Maaaybe movies where Infinity stones are present. Calling all MCU movies "Thanos ark" is a big stretch. And there are franchises that have more movies than MCU - James Bond and Godzilla for example. To sum it up, MCU is a gargantuan achievement but saying no one will ever top it is a joke.

To sum it up, MCU is a gargantuan achievement but saying no one will ever top it is a joke. Not every chapter of a book deals with the central conflict of that book. Not every episode of a TV series deals with that seasons central conflict or 'big bad'. Sometimes you have to wait several episodes/chapters before you're even aware of who or what the central conflict/big bad is. With the Infinity Saga, we had to wait until episode/chapter 6 - The Avengers - before we got an inkling of who the big bad of the season/book was. It doesn't mean he isn't the big bad...even if they only decided that while making that film. Godzilla is constantly re-making and updating, not telling a continuous and expanding story. James Bond films are sort of connected but since they're all focused on one character and hold no particular continuity between the different actors, the franchise isn't really comparable from a "feat of storytelling" point of view. I happen to think it is very unlikely we'll ever see something of this nature and scale succeed so astonishingly well again, but hey...stranger things have happened, I suppose.

The Running Man 8/10 Typical 80s action movie with Arnold's usual one liners. Still a good movie that still holds up today in what the fake news media/people in power can do to the "truth" in distorting it to their own ends. Based of Stephen King's book, a variation of his "1984".

I finally got around to watch 'You Were Never Really Here'. A really, really good movie! Strongly recommended! Full of essential, beautiful toxic masculinity. It's not perfect, because women don't fully understand that shit. And this was written and directed by a woman, Lynne Ramsay. And she had to do the changes she had to do, to the original story, the novel. But I've read the novel (by Jonathan Ames), and while also great, it's not perfect either. Actually, in the different choices that Jonathan and Lynne have made, I like the movie better. So, yeah, IMO this is a case of when the movie is better than the book. The atmosphere and tone of the movie is very faithful to the book.

Saw this just now. Wow, Yen is truly incredible. Awesome choreography & decent acting. I also loved the cheesy 70s Shaw bros reference when people get the instant bruises, hilarious ...Doubt I will waste any time on the sequels however 7/10

Rewatching this. Ahhh those good old times. I was excited to see a third version of Dune (would it stay true to the book?) but my interest dropped to zero after the news that the producer / director is changing Liet Kynes into a black woman amongst other things they intend to intro / change. Yep, saving my $$$ for something else and staying with the books, the 80's movie and the mini tv series.

If I was an author I would have some stipulations to go along with selling the rights to make the book into a movie. Two of them is there will be no changing of the plot. Second, there will be no changing of the characters, be it sex, race, color, creed, religion, personality, etc. Otherwise I'd sue your ass for breach of contract.

Finally watched this, very mediocre & cliche. I remember now why I'm not a Soderberg fan 3.5/10 Okay. When I watch a movie like this, I kinda want it to be cliche. I've seen this. Don't remember it terribly well, but I think I could give it 6/10. I think Gina Carano did a good job as an actress. Though I also think she risks being typecasted into a role that doesn't have much future. Women can't fight men. And at some point the audience is going to become aware enough of the woke agenda which poisons everything, that this, old, classic fantasy of kick-ass women, which has always been appreciated, by a primarily male audience, will now seem tainted by feminist, misandrist propaganda and leave people with a bad taste in their mouths.

Well said. This is exactly the problem with the current juvenile 3rd-wave of Feminism; it is very self-defeating. How can a woman be both strong & powerful yet constantly contriving a scenario in which she's the victim? How can a young woman today be treated equally but also special? How can she expect to be paid the same wage in ALL SITUATIONS despite maternity leave, crying on her lunch break twice a week or simply not being as competent as her male coworkers?

I just watched ''I am mother'' and oh boy, it was a damn good movie! Why wasn't there any marketing for it? I totally missed that one while other crappy movies got tons of ads and attention. Clever story, very good acting, good tension and pacing throughout the entire film, no gaping plotholes, it did not have to rely on any actions scenes to keep me from falling asleep either. Highly recommend this sci-fi film, especially to those that liked films like ''Ex Machina'' or ''Moon''.

This looks kind of cool and - while I am not sure it deserves all adulation it is receiving, mostly due to being the only new, moderately decent action movie out at the moment - I liked Extraction, so will likely check this one out.
Is it wrong, though, that I'd much rather see them "fighting through the ages" than another modern day, spec ops action film?
Basic premise for those who don't know and don't have time to watch the trailer - Theron leads a group of immortal warriors in the modern day. Bad guys want their genes...or something.
