I've already admitted to being a dumb ass mark so fuck it, my MEA went like this. Prices in CAD. Mass Effect™: Andromeda Super Deluxe Edition PC Download Origin Great Game Guarantee: Eligible (lmao) (Pre-Order) Mar 21,2017 $129.99 2150 Mass Effect™: Andromeda Points PC Download Origin Great Game Guarantee: Not Eligible Your content will be available for use the next time you launch your game. $23.39 Qty: 1 12000 Mass Effect™: Andromeda Points PC Download Origin Great Game Guarantee: Not Eligible Your content will be available for use the next time you launch your game. $129.99 You poor poor soul, luckily for me I was strapped for cash so I only ever purchased the standard edition, a decision I would not regret with the poor handling of Andromeda Bioware has done. Last couple games I bought were I didn't regret my decision were Fallout 4 Pipboy edition + Season Pass (I'm a super big Fallout fanboy and anyone who bought the season pass when I did got 2 expansions and 4 add-ons for 30 bucks totaling 50+ additional hours of content) Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (Bought it on sale a week and a half ago and got the super delux like 85 dollar edition for 24 bucks) Ghost Recon: Wildlands (Again bought on discount got the Gold edition the 99 dollar one for 40 bucks + a 15 dollar amazon gift card I that I get multiple of for free every year) and lastly How to Survive 2 which I think was 12 dollars when I got it, but its more of an indie title than a AAA so its usual price is only like 20. Love when stuff is on sale, basically don't buy anything day 1 any more unless I really REALLY want it. Living lavishly spending absorbent amounts of money I know ;D

The atrocious way DLC was handled in the first game will stop me from playing Destiny 2.

Yeah Destiny dlc was expensive.
But for the amount of hours I put (and still do) into the game it has still worked out substantially cheaper per hour spent than MEA, which I have dropped after one playthrough and about 30 h in MP.

I was excited for destiny as a long time bungie fan but dropped it fairly quickly. The pve was way too easy with no story and the pvp was average for me. MEA hasnt lived uo to what I hoped it would be but I doubt D2 will be in the cards for me given how lackluster the first one was.

MEA hasnt lived uo to what I hoped it would be but I doubt D2 will be in the cards for me given how lackluster the first one was. destiny was one of those games that started out extremely ambitious, and then got pared down to the version that was launched. however, the taken king expansion really solidified the game with a lot of the polish and balance that was lacking from its initial iteration. It was still held back by previous generation consoles (360/ps3), but still boasted the absolute best gunplay engine on any console FPS. now that they dropped the previous generation of consoles and brought it to PC, i firmly believe that bungie will be able to realize their original vision for destiny. it will certainly have a level of polish that has been sorely lacking in EA/Bioware's recent games.

Mass Effect is the game series that I started with on consoles and was pretty much all I played until Destiny launched 3 years ago. Since then I have logged 3000ish hours on Destiny loving it even when it was in a crappy state due to the game play mostly and the raids. With that said as soon as MEA launched I was so hyped and planned on dumping Destiny.
D2 was something I was really worried about as I really only play one game at a time. I did not know what I was going to do in September.
It is a great sadness that I now know in September I will go back to Destiny and likely not look back at MEA. This is something I never thought would happen. Hopefully Bioware will learn like Bungie about scrapping development plans and rushing a less than developed story to release. Those story issues should not have caused the mess we have in MP, so I have no clue why it was so bad at launch. MP has gotten better with each patch but ME3MP was as good at launch as we have now and by the time Platinum dropped on ME3 it was much much better.
I want this game to be great and I hope it continues to develop but if it is true MEA is running on a small staff I just don't see it ever being what I wished for.

I can see myself dropping MEAMP for D2 when it comes out. I was burned by D1 and sold it almost immediately after buying it at release, but decided to give the open beta a try over the weekend and ended up preordering it for $10 off today at Best Buy.
I will say that right off the bat you notice that the shooting mechanics are just flat out better. I'm not technical or smart enough to know WHY that is, but it feels, looks, and plays better in terms of gunplay. The difficulty seemed right on point as me, a friend and my 9 year old were able to complete the strike. 3 person strikes will have me playing it a lot, I feel like.
I still prefer the EA card loot system to whatever the hell is going on in Destiny, that is still gonna take me forever to figure out. But basically I tend to agree with the premise of this thread in that based on what limited amount I've played, D2 shows a lot of what MEAMP could have been and isn't. I do respect that they're NOT supposed to be exactly the same thing though - really enjoy that I can drop into an MEAMP gold match and be done in ~15 mins vs almost an hour to do a strike in D2.

Destiny 2 is a lot like Destiny 1. It uses the same engine and so on. So, they would of learned from their mistakes first time around. Destiny 1 was a mess at first. Mass effect andromeda is using a different engine than mass effect 1, 2 and 3. Also, Destiny 2 just feels the same as the first but had a buff to graphics and in game features. Obviously there will be no bugs if all they have done is made a game that feels like a expansion pack.

... really enjoy that I can drop into an MEAMP gold match and be done in ~15 mins vs almost an hour to do a strike in D2. An hour? Maybe the first ever run if you wipe a few times but you can easily halve that or more once you are used to the mechanics and map, so I don't think that is fair comparison. I reckon they'll be about the same time eventually. I mean, a good experienced team can do one of the D1 raids in that time..

Well the test will be how balance patches play out, and whether or not they separate PC and console changes. They probably should. A shooter is drastically different played the correct way with M+KB at 60 FPS.

Campaign was short, but a lot of fun, and the pvp was great for a short while, now its full of really good players and I never spent enough time in there to git gud so I stopped playing Edit: I looked at the thread for the Bungie site and yeah that is a lot of hate. But tbh that's typical for their Destiny forum, which is why I am here and not there

It's seriously one of the most insulting releases from a AAA studio and IP that I think I've ever seen It's on par with DA:I. Honestly no idea how that got GOTY, but I think that made EA overconfident. They seem to regard releasing broken, steaming turds to be the new "industry standard". Why bother finishing a game when you can release half of it and if it makes money, then fix it to something approaching a finished product? I imagine it got GOTY because it's, overall, one of the better RPGs to come out in the last few years, and easily the best game in the Dragon Age franchise.

The Taken King was a good expansion. With Destiny it was a cash cow from day one. I do not mind paying money for expansions and DLC as long as the content was worth it. But sadly besides Taken King, and I stopped playing after the Taken King. Expansions like house of wolves and the dark below just feel like they should be included in the base game. That's why I only ordered standard edition this time. I will still play it because destiny is still very enjoyable and fun to play with. But I am holding out on those dlcs even though it is cheaper to pre-order with them.

The biggest problem with the Taken King expansion had more to do with Bungie's incredibly laissez-faire attitude to providing post-launch support. Taken King came out in September 2015... and I think over the course of the seven months leading up to the next content release (which was free), they pushed out four, maybe five patches. Sure, they had the obligatory MMO holiday events (one for Halloween and one for Christmas/New Years), but those were only live for two weeks each, and when they ended, almost everything they added was removed. The PVE content added by the expansion began to stagnate around December/January because while they did add a significant amount of content with the expansion, the community as a whole had managed to beat it to death in about three months. The PVP community was very unhappy as Bungie's extremely slow and dim-witted patching routine led to some weapons and loadouts becoming hilariously strong, and sitting head-and-shoulders above everything else for months at a time.
PC Beta dates and system requirements have been announced: www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/46087/7_This-Week-At-Bungie--07272017
