So they said that to a journalist, not to investors. Not the same thing they did with MEA. They completely ignored ME:A in their earnings call UNTIL someone asked them about it. Doesn't that seem strange considering it was their only AAA game released during the quarter? But they still said that they were happy about MEA, and I don't know where you saw it was a good thing to lie to investors, they are not journalist that speaks to the community, they are the owners of the company.

He has zip. He's as big of a troll as suikoden. He kidnapped Zipzap2000?! That seems a little much over a video game. Although it does explain why Zip disappeared. 😂

Here is another article from Joystiq where EA told their investors that Dead Space 3 didn't meet expectations during an investors call. Joystiq/EngadgetBetter put all of this in the new thread made by suido, he has made a thread just for that... Best way to cull trolls is to let their posts go unread and un-responded to.

which to me means it was financially successful. Again, I'll say take it for what you will. All I'm getting out of it is that there is no way to accurately obtain sales data on video games. Even the methodology page at VG Chartz calls their data "estimates" and explains that they use tactics such as just "passively polling" gamers to find out what games they are playing and polling their "retail partners" and then extrapolating that data into their charts. I admit I'm not scouring their site, but I couldn't even spot a list of their retail partners to judge, for instance, whether or not Xbox Live is sending them data. Also, the most recent weekly chartz on the site is for June 10th... that means no data yet correlating to Bioware's opening up the free trial on all platforms... and most of that probably results in a digital sale, even on the consoles since very few people would bother to run out and buy a disk and reload everything from the disk if all that's needed is to unlocked the rest of the game after their free trial. www.vgchartz.com/methodology.phpVery true. In reality we know nothing for certain.

Investors CallOkay, so the PR department said those things. During the Investors call EA said this to their investors which is different then what was said about Andromeda where they said that Dead Space 3 didn't meet expectations. So what we can gather is the PR department doesn't accurately talk about what the management is saying and will toe the company line.

Damn. That was fast! Yep and it would be a good thing to remind people that when EA spokersoon said he was happy with dead space 3, he was speaking to a journalist. When they said they were happy about MEA they were speaking to investors, its never someone you want to piss, lie or bullshit when they are the ones who owns the company. So the 2 statements have... different context to say the least...

That would be why EA was so vehement in their initial denial that there was any "restructuring" or cancellation of DS4. "To further clarify, EA sent us an additional statement. "These rumours are patently false. While we have not released sales data for Dead Space 3, we are proud of the game and it continues to be an important IP to EA. Appreciate your help bringing down this baseless rumour." - Not so baseless it turned out. www.engadget.com/2013/03/05/report-dead-space-4-canceled-after-poor-dead-space-3-sales/

I think one big difference is one got shutdown while the other hasn't.
It's a wait and see approach. I doubt bioware is failing like the dead space devs were (DS3 wasn't even where it's issues started). EA could Legitimately be happy with bioware or they could just be putting on a face, they've done it before after all and let's say bioware were to get shutdown, it wouldn't be the first time EA has done it to a developer. Like I said though, it's a wait and see approach.
I will say it's hard to see them shutting down when personnel is changing (big one being Hudson taking over the entirety of bioware). Why shutdown and make all those changes pointless?

Why shutdown and make all those changes pointless? I don't think BioWare will be shut down - there's too much invested in Anthem. I'm just looking at this from the perspective of Andromeda being a financial failure and receiving the same treatment that DS3 received. The difference being, that DS3 received DLC, but EA also defended DS3 whereas they've been silent on Andromeda.

Barely - they lumped it in with other games to prop up it's perceived value in one mention, and in the other, they're carrying over ME:A sales numbers to Q1 instead of Q4 (probably because it sold so poorly in Q4, imo). Hardly an emphasis for it's only AAA game of the quarter.

And with which data are you using for saying that the trilogy was more popular on console? And you yes they are many more people willing to download instead of having to drive to the store and to buy it themselves way more easy to do it from your house. Clearly "many more" people don't - here is EA's take: "The consumer is shifting faster than we know or we expected,” CFO Blake Jorgensen admitted during an earnings call overnight, where he revealed that 33 per cent of his organisation’s sales from the fiscal year that’s just finished came via full game downloads. www.pushsquare.com/news/2017/05/ea_expects_digital_to_account_for_almost_half_of_game_sales_soonIt's clearly a growing number, but not a majority, yet. Wrong. That's only for consoles, covered later in this report. The full number is 61%. Net revenue for the year was $4.8 billion; cost of revenue, $1.3 billion; and operating income of $1.2 billion. Most importantly, these results enabled us to deliver record operating cash flow of almost $1.4 billion. We also returned over $0.5 billion to shareholders through our repurchase program in fiscal 2017. Total net sales for the year were $4.9 billion, a record. Digital net sales accounted for 61% of this, up 6 percentage points year-on-year. Extra content was a record $1.3 billion, with Ultimate Team contributing $832 million.finance.yahoo.com/news/edited-transcript-ea-earnings-conference-022737730.html

The 33% is in relation to full-game downloads, aka ME:A - where you're lumping all digital sales together - aka micro transactions in games like FIFA Ultimate Team.
