With all the mixed reviews and negative press at the launch of Andromeda, I made the decision to wait out the first 3-6 months before buying the game. I've done this before with a few games, and it produced more enjoyable times. I did the same with ME3 and found the updated endings much better than many fan seemed to. Anyways, I'm a little concerned if my PC can handle the game. Could anyone let me know if these specs would suffice to run the game and have an enjoyable experience? Operating System Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU Intel Core i7 4700MQ @ 2.40GHz 43 °C Haswell 22nm Technology RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28) Graphics Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080@60Hz) Intel HD Graphics 4600 (Lenovo) 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M (Lenovo) 41 °C ForceWare version: 376.54 SLI Disabled Storage 931GB Seagate ST1000LM014-SSHD-8GB (SATA) 40 °C I think maximus had the best idea; give the free 10 hour trial demo a whirl, see if it will run on your machine. If it can't, nothing lost, except a little download time, until you get your upgrade.

Wow, this got negative quick. Jeeze, guys. Here's an idea. Right now MEA is available for a 10 hour free trial. Should be able to get it through Origin. Download the trial and try it out! That'll be a good indicator of how it will perform on your PC, and will give you an indication of you want to play more. Remember, too, when you okay the trial that many reviewers said the dialogue and story pick up as you play, so if it seems pretty good at the start, it only gets better. But yeah, download the trial and test it out for yourself! Oh nice. I wasn't aware of that. I think I'll download it tonight to see how it runs.

However those older laptops don't run well. Try the trial and if it doesn't run well when you upgrade imo desktops are better than even the best gaming laptop.

The point of the trial is of course to try it.
Some didn't like it, some spent hundreds of hours with it.

Do what one of the other posters said and get the free Origin 10hr trial and test it out. You can stop playing the trial and pick it up again later if need be.

I have tried the game and I don't like it. And I'm advising the OP not to buy it even if he likes what he sees in the trial. For me personally, this is not something worth buying. Why should I get out of this thread? Merely voicing my own opinions dude. Calm down.

I think the issue here is that there are other threads designed for you to voice your opinion about whether to purchase the game, however this thread was created because OP wanted to know if their computer could handle the game or not. This was never intended to be a "review" thread a only a technical thread. So while your opinion is perfectly valid, there's a time and a place, and this thread just is not it. For instance, in the thread about "Should Andromeda be more Alien?" going in and saying "Don't buy it!" is still a valid opinion, but off topic. See?

Hey, naughtynomad let us know how the trial went when you get done! It'd be informative for future tech spec recommendations! The developers always have minimum specs, but they aren't always actually true, so hearing your experience would be great!

I suspect the gfx card will melt. Mine had self-esteem issues afterwards... I got a new rig coming. Just waiting on the CPU and the GPU. I got the rest of it this morning. It's sitting in the man cave... mocking me. Heading off to west Texas tomorrow. I'll be here like the developers... super rare... (veiled jab) but I will check into a scary Studio 6 from time to time to restock (and rethink this gig) and use the wifi. It's going to be terribly slow... history is on my side. I really want to see a thread that says,"BioWare confirms Andromeda DLC. Date of release: N7." In the general summary: "Hudson confirms more DLC and will oversee a flawless launch for Anthem to make anyone who didn't preorder it regret their decision. As a matter of fact, he wants to tell YouTube to go F*** themselves because Dragon Age 4 is going to make the Witcher 3 look like an old classic... something BioWare keeps doing every time they evolved from engine to engine. Baldur's Gate to Planescape Torment, Neverwinter Knights to Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Dragon Age Origins and its toolset (hint, hint... come on... do it. Just freaking do it. The gains really do overcome the losses in loyalty, creativity, cottage industry and maybe a proven talent pool to recruit from... y'all are stupid like that.) and Frostbite: Andromeda and Inquisition." or something more Canadian I guess. This is tame for me. Anyway, take care Vonuber!

Hey, naughtynomad let us know how the trial went when you get done! It'd be informative for future tech spec recommendations! The developers always have minimum specs, but they aren't always actually true, so hearing your experience would be great! It's not finished downloading yet, but it lets you play at just 42%. So far it's been going well. I've been able to create my Ryders, and finished the prologue, and arrived the first planet. The game automatically set the settings to "low" but I bumped it up to medium, and it seems to be running fine. It does get a bit hot though, but I'm going to play around with the settings and see how it goes. Low settings are awful, and I don't think I'd enjoy playing it for long on that. But medium seems fine so far. I still have 9 hours left, so I'll report back how the full trial experience is. Initial guess is that I'm going to end up buying, so unless the combat really slows things down, it's looking good!

Unfortunately at times I think it is the Canadian in BioWare by trying to please everyone that screws them over. I remember prior to Inquisitions launch people were demanding a 100 hour game and others were saying that if it is more then 20 hours they wouldn't buy it. So we get Inquisition with its design where technically you can do both, but in reality both suffered. I can see similar things in Andromeda that they were trying to make both sides of the coin happy and instead it came out a mess. With that said I think they did take some things away from Inquisition's release complaints as well such as forcing people off of Eos before you could 100% it.

I recommend running a program like EVGA precision x alongside the game to see how well the system is running. It will tell you your memory usage, CPU usage gpu temp and one other thing I can't remember lol.

I am not sure if this is true with this trial, but the Origin Access trial prior to launch only allowed you to progress to a certain point in the story before locking out any further progress. After reaching that point you could continue exploring, start a new character or move to MP.
