It's not finished downloading yet, but it lets you play at just 42%. So far it's been going well. I've been able to create my Ryders, and finished the prologue, and arrived the first planet. The game automatically set the settings to "low" but I bumped it up to medium, and it seems to be running fine. It does get a bit hot though, but I'm going to play around with the settings and see how it goes. Low settings are awful, and I don't think I'd enjoy playing it for long on that. But medium seems fine so far. I still have 9 hours left, so I'll report back how the full trial experience is. Initial guess is that I'm going to end up buying, so unless the combat really slows things down, it's looking good! It does look damn good on the higher settings:

Hey, naughtynomad let us know how the trial went when you get done! It'd be informative for future tech spec recommendations! The developers always have minimum specs, but they aren't always actually true, so hearing your experience would be great! It's not finished downloading yet, but it lets you play at just 42%. I've got an AMD A10-6800k which has integrated HD8670D graphics, which compared to the GT 755M is about half as good in the graphics department. The most I've been able to get out of it is 20-40 FPS at minimum settings with a half-scale resolution, so effectively 480p. Still, I'm on my second playthrough because the game is actually really good. For me at least.

Frostbite scales down nicely. I'm playing now on an i7-3770 with a 6670 vidcard, and ME:A mostly runs OK. Although I'll probably blow the card up at some point. 1600x900, which is native for my monitor. No sense going bigger since the thing's practically in my lap with the current setup
I was able to grab a used Lenovo for $195, and the 6670 from my old rig still works. I've always been a bottom-feeder with gaming; my last rig was an Athlon X2 with 3GB RAM. Got me through DA:I, though framerates got bad in the later DLCs. It helps that I'm one of those people who can't really perceive framerates above 35 or so.

As an update. Things are going pretty well so far. My computer is running it on medium with minimal problems. There are times when I wish I could boost the settings, but I think I'll have no problem finishing the game as is.
I'm actually having a lot of fun. I don't see where all the negative press came from unless I just avoided all the problems by waiting long enough for BioWare to tweak things. It feels different than the original Mass Effect but familiar.
I'm going the route of passion filled but sarcastic explorer who flirts with everyone he meets... channeling my inner Kirk. Mostly choosing Emotional and Casual responses. And it feels like Star Trek meets Mass Effect. But I can see another play-through where you come as more of a militaristic conqueror would be fun too. I'll definitely have to play through more than once.

There were some glitches and animation issues at launch, but those are mostly gone now! Glad you are enjoying the game and I have to say I played it about the same. First Ryder was witty and happy-go-lucky, second is serious and less sure if himself.

With the constant march of technology, at some point you'll have a rig able to handle MEA better, faster, and in higher resolution. Going back and playing beloved games with better technology can be a real treat.

Going back and playing beloved games with better technology can be a real treat. Yeah, it was a bit of sore spot for a while. I had a GTX 1070 paired with a Xeon E3-1231 v3 but had to sell the rig in March due to my car dying and then my wife's car all but died last month soaking up my savings. My mate gave me this chip to tide me over and I bought Andromeda in the sale when it was half-price as a bit of a pick-me-up. Can't wait to build a new rig and experience 1080p60 locked gaming again; I think Andromeda is going to look absolutely stunning. It's impressive artistically at 480p; I just miss the old style Omni-Tools...

With all the mixed reviews and negative press at the launch of Andromeda, I made the decision to wait out the first 3-6 months before buying the game. I've done this before with a few games, and it produced more enjoyable times. I did the same with ME3 and found the updated endings much better than many fan seemed to. Anyways, I'm a little concerned if my PC can handle the game. Could anyone let me know if these specs would suffice to run the game and have an enjoyable experience? Operating System Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU Intel Core i7 4700MQ @ 2.40GHz 43 °C Haswell 22nm Technology RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28) Graphics Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080@60Hz) Intel HD Graphics 4600 (Lenovo) 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M (Lenovo) 41 °C ForceWare version: 376.54 SLI Disabled Storage 931GB Seagate ST1000LM014-SSHD-8GB (SATA) 40 °C ok let's state some facts: 1) metacritic scores are as useful to a gamer like a katana in a firefight. 2) Most who play andomeda are like " Wtf were peopke bicthing about? this is a good game" 3) You did well delaying playing the game although it is fine since the last 2-3 months 4) Most arguments and hate towards andromeda are false, lies and misinformation 5) yes the game has faults but not what haters say , no pause is a flaw, no indoors space dungeons is a flaw, too much "playing safe" from the devs regarding story is a flaw 6) It IS a mass effect game 7) Enjoy and the smack the haters who have not played it. 8) it is way way better than Horizon which i played and i really liked. 9) it will propably get the most dissapointing title of 2017 just to infuriate me some more 10) Gamers are the worst, we truly deserve unifinsied games , day1 dlcs, and season passes.

So I've come to the end of what the trial will allow me to do. I'm ready to purchase the game, but on Origin, it's being sold for $49.99. Amazon is selling for $39.99. I know I saw it was selling for $29.99 a little while ago. Does anyone know where I could get the best deal? I'm just interested in the Standard Edition at this point.

I think i saw this at Gamestop recently selling for like $29.99.....Not a pc gamer, and while i'am somewhat familiar with high and low settings in terms of performance, I have Andromeda on the standard Ps4 and the game plays and looks great....it actually looks incredible at some points.....by console peasant standards of course..... :ulikeit:

I ended up with the Amazon download for 39.99. I haven't bought a non-digital copy of game in more than 10 years. But on the bright side, I forgot I had about $50 in Amazon gift cards available, so I got it for "free."
