I think the Quarians were given the short end of the stick, narratively speaking, for their background/origin just for drama's sake.
A robot uprising wipes out 98% of their population, despite them being an interstellar society with multiple colony worlds, and then all the other species turn around and act like massive dicks to the Quarians for no logical reason at the conclusion of the Morning War. First they slap them with diplomatic sanctions, then they kick their embassy off the Citadel, and then they prevent the Migrant Fleet from settling any other worlds, some not even in Citadel Space, and under threat of violence in several cases.
I don't know, it just seems too conveniently "organized", like the entire universe decided that it was 'take a dump on Quarians day' and entire galactic governments go out of their way to harass them for... reasons. All that being said, I am still rather indifferent to the Quarians and don't really care about them one way or the other. Now if there is a species I could be said to dislike, or 'hate' if we have to jump to extremes, then I would go with the Krogan.
[Slightly off topic]
Unlike the Quarians and Geth with the Morning War, which was localized to their section of space. The devastation the Krogan brought to the entire galaxy leading up to and during the Krogan Rebellions, in addition to all the horrible acts they committed during said conflict really drove home the need for something like the Genophage. Flash forward to the modern timeline and they are still largely violent and warlike, far more likely to solve disagreements with bloodshed rather than reasoning. Add on to this their frequent, 'assholish' behavior towards their own allies and I have to seriously wonder if they are worth a second chance. Indeed, the Rachni have done far more tho atone for past wrongs than Wrex and the rest of the battletoads have, yet they're the fan favorites and we're all supposed to like them and root for them, much like the Klingons in Star Trek. I don't know why the Federation didn't bomb those violent barbarians back to the stone age after any one of the numerous wars they started either.

And yet none of that is happening and yet you are acting as if it has already happened. You seem like one of those lovely chaps on social media or even in the real world when anyone mentions anything they burst out declaring that events that haven't taken place yet have taken place already. Like someone mentions gun control usually in responds to some new shooting. And you burst out like a raging bull how because someone mentions gun control it means they really want to take all the guns away so the whole conversation is pointless because that is all they want. I will admit the holier-then-thou pseudo-intellectual dickwad comment was funny. But only because you are expression the very concepts you so complain about. Blatant hypocrisy is ever so amusing. Please do keep it up as the world can be a bleak place and people need a good laugh now and then. Oh yes, I am laughing my arse off right now. The irony. Almost forgot to address your response though. Yes, it is happening. Did you not accuse the OP of being a heartless sociopath or some such because she said the quarians give her the shits? The only person here bringing in rl social issues is you. I couldn't give two wanks about gun control, I live in a country where its illegal anyway.. And I don't use social media. I'm not under the illusion (unlike a majority of the "SJWs" or "anti SJW equivalent") that typing out novel length paragraphs of bullshit makes my opinion matter. I admit that calling you out is derailing the discussion though. So to bring it back.. I've disliked the Quarians from day one and never understood the appeal but then a lot of people hate the Asari, don't they? They are a weak race that couldn't deal with the consequences of creating the geth and expect everybody else to help clean up the mess they made. If it was an option, this sociopath would just destroy the entire race before the events of ME3. I will ask you as I asked OP to show the exact part of any reply that accuses the OP of being a heartless sociopath. They failed to show it and I doubt you will be any different without pulling stuff out of your rear end. Pointing out historical examples that seem to serve as the basis for the Quarian Lore and why they were written that way in a game isn't calling someone a heartless sociopath. It is pointing out that it isn't bad writing or BioWare trying to make them overly sympathetic just for the sake of sympathetic. It is showing the stark realism of the Quarian's problems as shown by our own actions past, present and unless major changes happen future. I really don't care if you care about gun control or not you how ever being the perfect examples of the idiots who burst in like raging bulls yelling at the top of their idiotic lungs that prevents any form of discussion or debate on the issue. So sure they are right they cover their own ears to prevent any other opinion from reaching them by shoving their head so far up their own anus. The appeal of the Quarians is wide spread and varied but if I were to try and make the broadest possible generally possible to encompass as many people as possible. It is because they are a group of people who have made a mistake in the past and they are never allowed to live it down. And I think most people have done something in their life at some point that they can't seem to get past or around. And that isn't even getting into issues related to race, religion or sexual orientation were like the Quarians they are being treated differently then everyone else simply because of who they are even though they have done nothing wrong. As for Asari I think the hate for them is an inferiority complex of some kind. Because damn near all the complaints I see directed towards them is based around how unrealistically perfect they are. And when it is shown in game that that perfection is just a public mask used to hide all the imperfections behind it. In some seriously amazing circular logic of how stupid it is that they are so perfect. And how stupid it is that something so perfect could be flawed. Please show examples in game or side media (comics, books, etc) that show the Quarians expect someone else to clean up their mess. As well as how they are weak because they apparently just sat around with their thumbs up their on back side.

The quarians are alright and I like Tali well enough but they are far from my favorite ME race. I find that most of the messes they are in are of their own doing. In ME 2 they got into a mess when Tali's father experimented with Geth and Shepard had to come fix that mess. In ME 3 they started a war with the Geth while the reapers were destroying the galaxy and Shepard had to come fix that mess. The quarians tend to be their own worst enemy. I think we have all known that one person in our lives be it a family member, best friend, or ex that keeps engaging in self destructive bahvior and you realize no matter what you do they won't turn things around until they take responsiblity for their own mistakes. That is what the quarians remind me of. Kind of a frustrating but fairly likable race.

They just have really shitty luck or individuals cause the general bad luck. The issue in ME 2 was the result of Tali's father connecting more Geth together then guidelines suggested in hopes of getting a better look at how the Geth process information. That isn't them as a race as in individual causing the problems. The War at Rannoch was actually going their way. Had they launched the attack 3 months sooner they would have won but the Reapers interfered and set them back. They aren't self destructive they just have really shitty luck.

They keep screwing around with the geth and it keeps causing them problems. It is like they learned nothing from the morning war Because the Geth were their creation and the cause of all of their problems. They are trying to correct their mistake that lead to the loss of their home planet, 90% of their population and lead to their race being marginalized and ridiculed by the rest of the galaxy. On top of that there is what a 200 year gap between Morning War and start of the game. In that 200 years it has been hinted that there have been small raids against the Geth but nothing major. The events of ME 2 with Tali's father appear to be breaking a long standing rule about bringing intact Geth back to the Fleet. And most of those parts were gained during the Battle of the Citadel which the Quarians didn't actively participate in. In that 200 year time frame with them doing very little but small events with the Geth how has their situation improved? You say stop messing with the Geth but the Quarians seem to have a non aggression deal with the Council over the Geth. One they some times step around but never actually break. And yet they still have no planet to call their own, their ships are aging and being held together by duct tape and chewing gum. And they are marginalized and mistreated by the vast majority of races in the galaxy. To the point a human C-Sec officer feels arresting a Quarian simply because a Volus claimed they stole their credit chip was perfectly understandable. Leaving the Geth more or less alone has gained them nothing but destroying the Geth would gain them a home and correct the mistakes of the past that all the other races throw in their face and use as an excuse to treat them the way they do.

They keep screwing around with the geth and it keeps causing them problems. It is like they learned nothing from the morning war Because the Geth were their creation and the cause of all of their problems. The quarians are the source of their own problems. The geth weren't a problem until they "dared" to gain some sentience. The result was that the quarians tried to destroy them. The geth didn't want to be destroyed and fought back. Hard. They decimated the quarians but then let them go. Let. Them. Go.
I'll admit that the heretics screwed everything up. From the perspective of every other MW race, the geth were on the attack. So maybe the quarians took that as a call to fix their mistake by ending the geth threat. And though taking Legion strictly at its word might not be good enough for the quarians, Shepard's and Tali's own experiences should have changed everything. We learn that the geth who attacked were a separate branch and had been destroyed or re-written. Yet, rather than use this clear bridge to try to at least see if they can end their war, the quarians choose to attack. These attacks end up almost getting them killed, disregard Shepard's life entirely (they could have waited an hour for Shepard and Co. to leave the dreadnought) and all around make a series of mistakes. Now, beyond that, a lot of the recent stuff can be blamed on Gerrel and, maybe to a lesser extent, Xen. Poor decisions which definitely should not condemn the entire race to extinction. Which is why I won't do that to them. In should, however, lead to a revolt and removal of some or all admirals from positions of leadership. At least, that would be how I would have liked to see it play out.

Which is why I won't do that to them. In should, however, lead to a revolt and removal of some or all admirals from positions of leadership. At least, that would be how I would have liked to see it play out. The creation of the Geth regardless of war would have resulted in problems with the rest of the galaxy. Since the restriction on AI creation and the fear of what they could do predated the creation of the Geth. That fear is what drove the Quarians into that action which resulted in the War. The end result was their race being nearly removed off the face of the galaxy and their home planet and colonies being removed. If that was the end of it with their choices simply resulting in the lost of their home planet and near decimation of their race that would be one thing. How ever the resulting victory of the Geth only confirmed the fears about the AI overlord wiping everyone out. On top of that when the Council sent ambassadors they were wiped out instantly by the Geth. So the Quarian's problems didn't end with their defeat at the hands of the Geth. The races of the galaxy blamed them for creating in their eyes a literal doomsday time clock counting down to the destruction of everything. Because of that the Quarians were marginalized, lost their embassy and treated badly by the rest of the galaxy. The fact they lost so much didn't matter. So with the rest of the galaxy treating them as such and blaming them for creating the literal doomsday device the only way to correct that treatment is to eliminate the problem they created. Quarians never let go of the Geth because the galaxy never let go over the Quarians creating them in the first place. The events of ME 1 only further enforced by showing the count down timer has finally reached 00:00. Tali and Shepard's experiences creating any changes? Why would it? In a perfect world it would absolutely change everything. But ME game doesn't exist in a perfect world. So to say simply because in this perfect world a well though out argument would change ideas and opinions means it should work in the real world makes no sense. A fact that will be very much so established when you read this and ignore 99-100% of what I wrote. Because you have made up your mind and no amount of rational mature discussion on the topic will change it. So if you as an example are incapable of changing your opinion on the subject at and and the events that took place and the reasoning behind them. Then why do you even vaugly expect the Quarians to do any different? As for Dreadnought events welcome to the military and military actions. Sacrifice 4 people to take out the enemies flag ship that has been wrecking havoc against your troops. Sending 4 troops to their deaths to achieve victory is the very action any military would make time and time again. On top of that there was no way to know how long Legion's action of shutting down the main core drive would be in effect.
