Winter comes and everybody dies? There you go, now you know what happens. No need to read any further. Just kidding. I read the first book and never touched the series since. I have no idea what happens after that. Is there a plot synopsis of the comics anywhere , btw? i actually find Martin's prose very eloquent. One of the best writers alive, if not - the best.

Due out on Nov 28, 2017 per Titan Books website and Amazon, and co-authored by N.K. Jemisin and Mac Walters (didn't expect that one): "The official prequel to the hit video game Mass Effect: Andromeda. Lieutenant Cora Harper joins the Andromeda Initiative, a mission to send a fleet of colonization arks to the Andromeda Galaxy, each carrying a different council race. When key data is stolen by unknown parties, Alec Ryder personally recruits Harper to retrieve it before it can be used against the Initiative. If she fails, the Andromeda mission may be crippled before it begins. Harper is a human who has trained with the asari squad known as Talein’s Daughters, under the direction of Nisira T’Kosh herself. Yet her training may not be enough when she discovers that she can trust no one—perhaps not even Ryder himself. PRODUCT DETAILS ISBN: 9781785651601Dimensions: 4 3/16” x 6 7/8”Mass market paperback: 304pp Publication date: November 28 2017All authors: N. K. Jemisin , Mac Walters Electronic Arts / BioWare" I know there was a thread floating around about the book but didn't see it mentioned the plot synopsis. Add the fact that the final issue of "Discovery" got moved to late October makes you wonder if another book or even DLC will be wedged somewhere between now and N7 day. *shrugs* Seems like your run-of-the-mill plot. I wouldn't read too much into the fact that the release date got pushed, it happens all the time.

I wouldn't read too much into the fact that the release date got pushed, it happens all the time. This was the original announcement from Titan Books last year: Starting with MASS EFFECT™: NEXUS UPRISING by Jason M. Hough and K.C. Alexander on 28th March 2017, with two further novels due for summer and fall of 2017, the stories will offer fans of the blockbuster game further insights into the worlds and characters of MASS EFFECT. The full line -up of titles is currently slated as: MASS EFFECT™: NEXUS UPRISING by Jason M. Hough and K.C. Alexander 9781785651564 | Spring 2017 | Paperback & eBook | £7.99/$7.99 | 336pp MASS EFFECT™: ANNIHILATION by Catherynne M. Valente 9781785651588 | Summer 2017 | Paperback & eBook | £7.99/$7.99 | 336pp MASS EFFECT™: INITIATION by N.K. Jemisin 9781785651601 | Fall 2017 | Paperback & eBook | £7.99/$7.99 | 336pp" "Annihilation" was rumored to be Quarian-related, so, with "Discovery" being delayed as well, there appears to be a link. Maybe it means nothing but, based on the release, schedule initially announced, it appears "Initiation" is still on its original schedule and only "Annihilation" is getting pushed back. The fact that those two publications, with Quarians as a common thread, are the only two being delayed is, to me, curious.

Don't sweat it. I've read all the Ice and Fire books and the writing is of a higher standard than for churned out game or movie tie-ins. People who think the Star Wars EU novels are sterling examples of great genre fiction may disagree with me though. Depends which Star Wars EU novels you are speaking You're entitled to your opinion. You can enjoy a good burger and still understand it's not the quality of filet mignon. The EU novels, like Star Trek and other movie/tv tie-in book series can be entertaining to a degree, mostly in spite of themselves. Most authors who wrote books for these types of franchises don't generally count them among their seminal works if they score a hit critically and/or financially with an original work of their own. In other words, too many out there think their burger is filet mignon.

He hasn't really lived up to hype, so far for me.

Add the fact that the final issue of "Discovery" got moved to late October makes you wonder if another book or even DLC will be wedged somewhere between now and N7 day. I wouldn't be surprised since BioWare has used comics in the past like Mass Effect: Redemption and Mass Effect: Invasion as lead-ins not only to ME2 and ME3 but also ME2: Lair of the Shadow Broker and ME3: Omega DLCs respectfully.

Didn't Citadel get a comic run to as well? That comic series was released after Citadel DLC was out. And it was mostly bad.

As ME Discovery #4 being related to Quarians and so heavily delayed close to original release date, along with ME Annihilation/Lost Ark novel unofficially delayed too, we can conclude one of the two scenarios will happen.
Scenario 1, both novel and comic are DLC tie ins and are delayed heavily as DLC itself is delayed. With merger of BW Montreal and EA Motive, a task to create SP Story DLC now goes to BW Edmonton and perhaps BW Austin. So one or both studios had to allocate manpower and resources for DLC production that had started or will start pretty late. Hence the big delays.
Scenario 2, both novel and comics were DLC tie ins, but DLC was ultimately canceled so major rewrites are in order. Unlike DLC's, BioWare and EA had stated far in advance there will be 3 Andromeda novels and 4 ME Discovery comic issues. Originally ME Lost Ark/Annihilation and ME Discovery #4 are meant to be DLC tie ins, but due to business decision change, both are undergoing major rewrites to conclude their stories standalone.
We just have to hope for scenario 1 to be true, however we just can't ignore scenario 2 might be what actually get in the end.

Wait, Cora trained with Asari commandos? I don't think she made that clear in the story mode.

Have you read The Thrawn Trilogy by any chance? Was going to ask that. Or any thing by Peter David? The guy has written a ton of Star Trek and Babylon 5 novels and wrote a pair episodes for both Babylon 5 and Crusade and he has wrote episodes for Young Justice and The Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon shows . He has written novels based on Fable series and novelizations for various movies. He is IMHO the best American comic book writer in business today with legendary runs on The Incredible Hulk, X-Factor, Justice, Spider-Man 2099, for Marvel and legendary runs on Aquaman, Young Justice, and Supergirl for DC. IMHO his 80+ issue run on Supergirl is the greatest series DC has ever published and considering some of the classics that DC published that I love that should tell you something. He has written Sachs & Violins, The Fallen Angel, Spike: Old Wounds, Spike vs. Dracula, Angel Spotlight: Illyara, Dreadstar, and Soul Searchers and Company for Epic Comics, IDW, First Comics/Malibu Comics and Claypool Comics respectfully. He was also the co-writer of Steven King's The Dark Tower comic book series for Marvel as well. Peter David is a good writer on his worst days a great writer on his best days. He is one of the most dedicated writers that I've seen, the guy had a stroke and still wrote X-Factor which Marvel was publishing bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) and never missed a deadline while he recovering and going through physical therapy.

I don't care for Mass Effect Novels, but if this is a background Story for Cora and Alec, I'm intrigued, not going to lie.
