Heh, that's how I see myself. Someone who is willing to overlook a lot in order to play a cool character I can tweak in a cool, UNUSUAL setting and a new story & move on, vs replaying a "perfect" title 10 times in a Tolkien's spin-off. It remains to be seen just how much I am willing to overlook. But, hey, I managed Blade & Soul's story for the sake of the setting/character, so I think I am good. Well, IIRC you couldn't customize your character to any significant degree with either game. Oh, and I wouldn't call any of the characters "cool"... Neither did I find the world or lore to be particularly intriguing.
Nothing about the basic structure of these games stood out really, story, lore, mechanics, characters, etc.
So while I'm willing to take a look at new games they produce, so far they didn't impress.
For me, any customization, any at all, that makes my character "mine" even if it's just changing hair color is hugely important. And, yes, I appreciate the warning & will see if I can catch Technomancer on sale. It is only $40 anyways & I saw that it went on sale for as low as $10. Plus, I did love Andromeda, so, obviously, my tastes are not refined.

I tend to disagree. I don't think this is going to be the end of Single Player games, or Single Player DLC for EA/Bioware games. People have been saying that SP games are dying for a long time, just like they say that each new generation of console is the "last console generation", but have yet to be true. People are crying out for good SP experiences. Fallout didn't have a MP component, and people love it. People are excited about Red Dead Redemption II, and that isn't a MP game (there might be MP added on, but the base game that people are excited for is SP). Battlefield 1 was touted as having a great SP experience. Same with Titanfall. People want SP content. Horizon: Zero Dawn was so great that Microsoft put out job advertisements for making a HZD-like game. Zelda BOTW was SP and people lost their minds for that. SP isn't going anywhere. People will still want Bioware SP experiences, and companies will keep making them because they make good money and, when done right, get a lot of good hype for the studio and the publisher. I don't think this is nearly the end for Mass Effect or Bioware SP games. Anthem is an attempt at something new for the studio, but not unsurprising. But that doesn't mean the end for good SP stories from Bioware.

Though, the protagonist for MWL is completely predetermined (appearance and background).

Greedfall seems like it maybe could be interesting. I'm very weary of that studio, I've played Mars: War Logs May, Bound by Flame and Technomancer and they weren't that good at all. Clunky gameplay, poor storytelling, etc. Yeah, I haven't played any of there games to date because of the user reviews in the "Other Games" forum here. But I figure they are bound to hit pay dirt eventually, well either that or go out of business.

I don't want Bound by Flame, because it's medieval fantasy. in that period setting, I'll just do Dragon Age... maybe, you know... like... later. If I like Technomancer, I'll check out the MWL, but it's an older game, so I prefer to start with a newer title.

For people lamenting the end of SP RPGs, it's still rather early for that. There's certainly a healthy market for them. There was this little game called The Witcher 3, and by all indications it was an overwhelming success. It doesn't really benefit us if there are fewer devs doing this though. CDPR might be the cat's pajamas and stuff, but as it is there aren't many (if any) games quite like Mass Effect, Dragon Age or The Witcher. I hope Cyberpunk is a great game I can lose lots of hours in without relying on other players, but I have to reserve judgment for now. I'm actually more hopeful for Dragon Age.

There was this little game called The Witcher 3, and by all indications it was an overwhelming success. That is the game that I truly believe hosed bioware RPG's. Played DAI and I liked it, then played WIII and... well, didn't play DAI again. MEA, IMHO, suffered from the same comparison. To compete with an RPG based on a good book (thought out universe), you need to have a good book (thought out universe). ME1-3 had that, MEA, No... I honestly think the next true RPG we'll see from EAware will be based on the Star Wars IP. EA paid for it, and they're going to milk it for all it's worth. So, I'm expecting a Jedi Knight / Jedi Outcast type RPG (given it will be using frostbite); heavy on action, passible story, Multiplayer up the wazzu that doesn't compete with the Battle Front title.

EA did make it clear that they see the future of their revenue streams coming from online gaming. I think RPG's will always be a part of their catalog but they're likely to be smaller in scope or maybe even episodic.

The success of W3 is both hard earned, and it is a double-edged sword. Low-volume, over-invested production will be hard to match, so it might actually be discouraging for aspiring middle of the road developers. Like in all things, we want a lot of competition to win as consumers, and if W3 success is the only form of success, we are in for far less offerings. So, Obsidian's moderate success is encouraging, but let's give it a few years.
That's why I want to see what Spiders put out. I want to see if there is even a potential for multiple medium priced interesting products on the market.
i know that for me to remain a gamer it is imperative to stop stalling on the same game for a few years, so I need to learn to play more types of games. At least it's the plan, lol.

While I admire your optimism, I have to disagree. What happened to both ME:A and BW Montreal as well not only severely tarnished the franchise, but put the series on ice, maybe even for good. I think ME is dead, at least for the foreseeable future, much to my chagrin. no i do agree with you. This likely means the death of ME...as a game franchise anyways. And a disturbing experiment for EA/Bioware in the future.

Titles by Spiders were less than mediocre up to this point tbh. I played Bound by Flame and Technomancer, both are games that I wouldn't recommend unless for something like 40-50% off, and then only for fans of the genre who are willing to overlook A LOT. While Spiders isn't in the same league as BioWare or CDPR yet, thought both were fun games. Good lore, fun combat, not as good romances as BioWare though. technomancer still has flaws but you can see that the studio is learning. Thought is was a lot of fun. It's is far better than some - looking at Two Worlds 2. I don't know, I'd recommend it.I approve this message...
