I was thinking of grabbing Absolver next week but I don't think I'll be able to handle the inevitable griefing. It looks like it has some fun co-op potential though. The learning curve looks steep on this one. It looks cool though.

The Elite Dangerous disc went in the PS4 last night for the first time.
I had a choice many months ago: MEA or ED. I just discovered the Mass Effect trilogy last year. I played through the ME3 SP and spent several hundred hours on the MP.
Playing MEA seemed like the path of less resistance and less of a learning curve. The MEA SP wasn't that bad. I assumed the MP would be a little rough (less than six months after release) but I really liked ME3MP when I played it last year so I bought points and jumped in head first.
I won't cry about the money. I put the points into Arsenal Packs; a lesson I learned from half a year of ME3MP. I made good use of the Rozerad to help max all my Commons.
I also made a lot of progress on my UC cards and some on the Rare characters. The release of 1.09 didn't change my approach it just made it seem unlikely I'd ever see a UR card at X.
Given the news yesterday I see two paths this thing can take:
A. Whine, cry, piss, moan and then break the disc in half
Or
B. Admit some of it was fun and some of it was wasn't but this thing was an uphill battle from the start for devs and players alike.
Some of you have already chosen A
Some of you haven't and wonder now what?
In the upcoming days it seems we can ask the very simple questions: What is within the power of the devs to fix and what are they willing to fix?
(There aren't that many Coop/PVE games out there with the this style/combination of gun play and space magic fit for all ages.)

Well for me (now that I fixed my PC issues) I think it's gonna be Battlefront 2 in October? November? Wont pre order or anything like that, but I may end up buying it since there wont be paid DLC, and it's been since BF4 that I played any form of multiplayer game, without counting this disastrous title called Mass Effect Andromeda of course.

There was a Husk mod for ME3, that basically looked like a zombie apocalypse. Each wave, you'd have to face an incredible amount of husks. By default, ME3 had 8 enemies max at the same time on the map. In this mod, it was crazy.

I loved that, the zombie run. Didn't play it that much but - boy! - I loved it. I once jumped into a pug with a gazillion Cerberus Guardians, that was fun as well...

Husk horde mode always looked like fun, but I was on Xbox, so I never got the chance to play that. I would NOT be interested in Adhi or Wraith horde mode in a modded MEA game. The grabs and bites! Though, I do wonder if Lifting Shockwave would launch dozens of them up in air if all were lined up properly in Shockwave's radius.

This is a shame. ME3 - which truth be told was just as flawed as MEAMP - had devs support and new content for 12 months. I myself only got into the MP 10 months post-release and still had a blast, played it for over 1,600 hours.
I honestly think MEAMP had a pretty good start and I can say I played enough back then to get my money's worth. Still, the game could have been enjoyable for a lot longer. The lack of bugs fixing, the insane loot expansion on Patch 1.09 and the devs pulling the plug on patch 1.10 killed the game for me and I believe for many other players, too.

One of the main reason many people continued to play ME3 for very extensive time is because it offered interesting contents over prolonged time and people wanted to save credits for the things to come. MEAMP has nothing. Nothing to look forward to, and nothing to unlock thanks to super junks extremely diluting RNG pulls. I didn`t touch this game for 5 days. I don`t feel like I am missing anything. Hell, people were right that the forum is more fun.

I wouldn't even say that would be the case comparing ME3 at release to MEA. Adding in SP makes it even more lopsided in terms of flaws / bugs, even given the outcry over the silliness of ME3's ending.

This is a shame. ME3 - which truth be told was just as flawed as MEAMP - had devs support and new content for 12 months. You mean the launch was as flawed, right? But ME3MP's execution and improvement over the following 12 months was far superior. And kept the game ... compelling for long after. I don't know MP game design worth a damn, but it does appear clear that it's a fine balance of grind, new content, and just some inherent "goodness" to keep players motivated. MEA has just gone to near 100% grind (my inference from patch 1.09, and implied in more than one of their own livestream responses). There's lot more to it than that, at least for me. I have no emotional involvement as I haven't even finished the SP. Banshees meant something to me, Geth meant something to me. Phantoms meant something (and made you sh*t your pants on Gold/Pt). Here, it's just a bunch of boring mobs (Ascendants at least have some uniqueness). On a few maps. With a few, far too repetitive, challenges (14 waves on Icebreaker ... again???).

Shame it took so damn long for Frontier to launch Elite Dangerous on PS4, I've been playing it at least a couple times a week since it entered early access on Xbox. Can't wait for the 2.4 update to go live.

seriously, what about the datamined characters? absolutely nothing new will be added ? Added and released are two different things. The datamined characters and guns will still, most likely, be released. We don't know what kind of timeline to expect though. Will they continue their failed experiment of drip feeding us content or give it to us all at once in a last hurrah? No one knows.

Devils advocate here, but what exactly can they fix now that the game will no longer receive patch support? I'm sure they can still adjust the stats on weapons/gear/wave composition/etc, but that seems to be it in terms of server-side changes. It just seemed to me like EA pulled the plug on funding for DLC/Patch support, and it was on such short notice that the team just had to drop everything. They even had a UI update in the works but that got canned with the news.

I've considered patching up my Elite Dangerous on the PC as that was what i was playing prior to Watchdogs2 and then Mass Effect Andromeda, and i've got the horizons pack for it too. I will need to refresh all my skills on it, as last time i'd played i'd made the enormous trip to the supermassive blackhole at the centre of the system and then parked my ASP Scout in the station where my anaconda was. not played it since then. so i think i would probably have to practice again with smaller ships before trying to take the conda out for a new voyage.
I was really hoping they would not cryo freeze ME:A, but the news has pretty much confirmed that.. and any updates we see for ME:A are going to be server side only.. so unless the character or weapon is already in the game, i can't see anything else coming.
The last live stream (last thursday), they said. 'mass effect' has not been canned, but lets be honest, the evidence we are seeing from THIS side of the equation is that they are doing the utmost to now walk away from Andromeda.. and no matter which way they try to paint it.. it oozes a lack of confidence..and no way am i buying a comic or novel to see what happened to the lost ark.
So I may be back to Elite Dangerous at some point, but i am admittedly for now, still grinding my way through gold games and opening packs trying my best to max my rares with the small chance of Ultra Rares dropping in between I'm 78% completed on rares currently.

I'm sure they can still adjust the stats on weapons/gear/wave composition/etc, but that seems to be it in terms of server-side changes. The problem with that though, is that it's been quite a while we've had such balance changes. If they can easily adjust stats, then why don't they do it? To leave the in-balance in balance?
