Sunegami, your Inquisitor is gorgeous! Awww, thank you! Her name is Victoria, and she was originally based on a combination of Diane Guerrero and Frieda Pinto, but surprisingly she came out looking a lot like me!

Inviting Blackwall back to your private quarters is hilariously adorable. How can people not like him?

Anyone have any headcanons regarding their specialization with Blackwall? Like if you're an assassin, does she like to sneak up on him and surprise him while he's carving? Or if they're a knight enchanter, do they look to him for pointers on swordplay?

So I finally finished the Trespasser DLC....I'm not sure how I am feeling about it all. It was a Solasmance, and my goodness that man is a train wreck. I love ya Solas but your ideas, no matter how well-intentioned, suck. I now need a dose of Blackwall to make it all better

I'm glad the Blackwall romance helps cheer you up! The happy ending leaves really warm feelings!

They have quite a bit in common, according to Solas. Thank goodness, I need some warm feels after Solas

wistfullymeI did hear their banter! It's great, just when I'm about to set Solas' pants on fire for chewing Blackwall out for lying, Solas apologizes and says the sweetest thing to Blackwall about how healers tend to have the bloodiest hands. Solas is a really self aware person and I hope we get to see both of them in the next Dragon Age game!

It's funny how protective I feel of Blackwall. There was a real vulnerability and how he just accepts what Solas says with a, I know. It about broke my heart. The way that man just accepts his fate, he will die if that's what the inquisitor decides. In fact he's angry if you get him out of jail. There's a real repentance, a real change in Blackwall and that is why I love that character and his romance so much. And is it just me but when you look at Blackwall, you just know he is a great cuddler?

It's got to be the hair, maybe the voice? I can see why Blackwall fans call him their problem bear! There's a gentle giant feel to him where he's tough as nails in a fight but he's so sweet and devoted with his lady that he'll ask if she's ok on the Storm Coast!

I swear if I don't start a DAI game soon with a Blackwall romance, Kaidan Fan is gonna smack me. I've just seen the videos. But I've switched from Xbox360 to pc because then I'll have access to the dlc. So redoing my wardens and Hawkes and quizzy's is gonna take a bit.

I had to remember in following playthroughs to not talk to him after Adamant Fortress and the Winter Palace missions were completed, at least not until Morrigan was done talking about Eluvians. Man it was awkward when waiting for the war table to be freed up so I could go finish Blackwall's mission.

I think it's all the above , he is the whole package . At least for me. While I love Solas and Ironbull (Cullen I haven't done yet,I feel kinda blah about him, since I couldn't romance him as a dwarf), they don't invoke the same feeling, yeah? I love that people call him their problem bear, that really fits him!

I've been warned not to exhaust all his conversation--to leave something left to talk about in his warden option iirc.

Ah, that one makes sense. It was to avoid a bug where you won't get any further discussion of the aftermath if you exhausted all his dialogue options. Mine was a roleplaying preference because I'd go talk to everyone before starting up the next major mission and that happened when I was in the midst of Blackwall's story.

For any Blackwallmancers who kept him pardoned, do you think he and the Inquisitor would eventually settle down in the countryside, or in a city? What's your headcanon after Trespasser?

As long as it's far from Orlais, I don't think it matters. Plus, the epilogue indicates they do a lot of traveling, so maybe just the estate in Kirkwall would be considered "home"?

I think Dorian also implies that Blackwall would be a good cuddler: "...Strong. Burly. Probably keep you warm by the fire..." For as much as those 2 like to barb each other he apparently approves of the Inq's taste. ;D So... Blackwall thread. Didn't post in the one on ol' BSN but now that everything is more or less reset, here I am. Well, he's my tank, brother in arms, a bff (but I suppose most of my companions are). I favor him over Cassandra and Bull, because even with rather cruddy gear he outlasts the rest of us -- and I prefer mage so he gets used a lot. I purposely give him priority in the Tomb quest so I can hear his story. Every time. I was surprised to learn people thought he was boring. I'd have to agree that it seems like he just wasn't given a chance. I use him a lot and hear most of his banter, so I felt like I really got to know him "on the field of battle" which is perhaps fitting. I also feel that his banter with any companion is rewarding and offers something a little different from him. One with Varric even inspires a quip about Anders. (Yes, I'm utterly shameless.) Don't know if anyone has ever heard it, but there is an interesting one with Cassandra after meeting Warden-Alistair, about Duncan. And his romance. I've only done it once and that was some time ago (planning to play it again), but, hot damn was it unexpectedly touching. There was a level of depth or passion that I wasn't expecting. (Even though I detest the "love" scene to no end.) Honestly? I do kinda feel that if he looked more like Cullen or Dorian he probably would be more popular. As it is, I don't think he's unattractive or that his appearance detracts my interest whatsoever. Though his story wasn't exactly a surprise it still pulled on some heartstrings during the romance. Although I also romanced him with a qunari so I had to put up with some funky animations. *I have not played the romance in Trespasser yet... As for what my favorite party is with him, I'm not sure. He's used most often so I get a good mix of dialogue but I do usually have him with Dorian and Cole/Cassandra. ...Hum. Rambled.

For those of you that don't know about the game, it revolves around a single question: "What can change the nature of a man?" The game is open enough to let the answer up to the player, but as the final confrontation approached I felt that the game was pointing me in a certain direction... "Regret" Now I wonder if Blackwall's writer is a fan of/has played the game, I'm starting to see some interesting parallelisms... No, it is not only you

That would be a good place to live, where they can be near Varric and other friends. I asked because travel can be rough on the body and that eventually, they might need someplace to settle and rest. And hey, it's great to have you posting here, Spirit Vanguard! It's awesome to have hear your thoughts! Do you think Blackwall could be a voice for Solas about turning away from a destructive path and finding a different one, Abnocte?

Thanks opuspace Blackwall might not be my most favoritest romance/companion (I admit it, I'm also in the Cullen/Dorian camps) but I have a big soft spot for the guy and still really love his character.

*snip* Do you think Blackwall could be a voice for Solas about turning away from a destructive path and finding a different one, Abnocte? Oh my, what a difficult question!! I haven't played in a while some I might be forgetting some things... Solas/Blackwall banter seems to indicate that Solas feels some kinship with Blackwall. After revelations Solas snaps at him clearly showing disgust at Thom actions, even if later he apologizes. So lets review what Thom did... Assassination of a man and his family just for coin No taking responsibility for his actions Hiding behind another's name Letting others pay the price of his greed Now let's think about what Solas did and wants to do... His people were enslaved by the Evanuris and he fought to free them He created the Veil to imprison the Evanuris after they murdered Mythal I'm assuming that Solas "nap" was due to how exhausted he was after creating the Veil, if this is the case, we can consider that he never avoided his responsibility in Arlathan's fall He led Corypheus to his orb in the hopes to have it unlocked, when his plan backfired he saves the Inquisitor and joins him/her to help fix his miscalculations The main difference I see here is that Solas goals were never selfish, he is trying to help others ( I'm not entering on whether he is entitled to remove the Veil or not ). That is where Blackwall and Solas diverge, so even if there is kinship between them it is only in the surface, the motivations that drove them couldn't be more opposed... and here is where I see Solas snapping at a Blackwall trying to turn him away from his path... I also want to point out these lines said by Solas: "I assumed we were alike. We'd seen war, knew its terrible cost, but understood that it was necessary." "You must accept. Accept the blood, to make things better." We don't know how old Solas really is, neither do we know the details of the war that led to the rise of the Evanuris or how long it lasted... but those lines there, made me think about Garrus lines in ME3 about "ruthless calculus", "...sacrife 10 million so 20 million can live..." Solas is one of the Evanuris, he was general, I think that "ruthless calculus" has been carved into him...that quite explains why he breaks up with Lavellan, and why even if he still loves her it is not reason enough to deviate him from his path, I think... So no, I don't think Blackwall can influence Solas in anyway...
