Had a pug complaining yesterday that he lost his sound again. So, i guess not all of ya know how to fix the sound bug even after all these months ( :why:

). I don't own a console or care to ever own one. But, this is how you fix it on PC.

DISABLE ORIGIN OVERLAY.

Origin has always been a suck ass client and Overlay has been known to cause issues with many games. This bug was not Bioware's fault.

If you don't know how to do this,

You can also do it for individual games. Right click game's box art/game properties/uncheck overlay

Step 1: STOP PLAYING!!
Step 2: Drop your controller

I honestly didn't realized how ubiquitous the sound bug was until the thread yesterday. Frankly I'm surprised there's any PC community left if you've all been fighting through complete audio loss every fifth game. Sounds maddening.

It's more often than that, and yes, it truly is. It makes me regret moving from PS3 to PC.

I also have to agree, my post may have looked like trolling, but I will try this out over the next few days and report back. I do appreciate the positive contribution, I guess I've just been around the BSN too long.

I get the sound bug a lot ... twice in less than an hour yesterday ... once in a pug doing the daily challenges, once in a group of friends ...

So ... there are probably 99 fixes to the sound bug, but this ain't one of them.

That said, even though I have Origin-in-game disabled globally and it does not run with Andromeda, the individual game properties had Origin-in-game checked ... I've unchecked it ... given the absolutely screwed up coding for Origin, I won't put it past them that this might fix the sound bug if Origin-in-game is disabled globally as well as for an individual game.

Let's hear it for belts and suspenders.

If it does fix the sound bug ... give me a week of game play without the sound cutting out ... I will report back to this thread, singing high praises for OP and the sound bug fix. My expectations are low, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

I can confirm I've played without the overlay and had the sound bug. Maybe it bugs out less without the overlay but it bugs anyway.

I am pretty sure at one point it was clarified that the bug is due to some issue with the Frostbite engine itself and not connected to Origin.

I find that Alt+F4 and loading up ME3MP works pretty good.

...Disabling Origin overlay can fix a lot of problems, but not the sound glitch. I can also confirm.

My audio dropped out 3 times yesterday, and I had to restart the game each time. I don't often use Origin In game, so I will try your "solution" by disabling it. I will let you know if it improves, or if the problem continues.

P.S
On the hardware side, make sure you don't have other voice tools like Skype, DISCORD, etc running in the background (just to weed out anything else competing )

This. And, I'm fairly certain the bug is caused by an "overload" of sounds when certain powers/combos are used at the same time. It's so random when it happens, but it seems to occur when a lot of in game effects occur simultaneously. Could be a specific maps environment, too.

Believe it or not, but you're hardly the first with this suggestion. I already tried this, and it's just a placebo. I never used stuff like discord by the way.

You can say many things of Origin, but it's not the cause of this bug. You just got lucky I'm afraid, because one of these days it WILL find you again.

If it really was as easy as disabling Origin it would have been common knowledge by now.

The question about sound dropping has already been put forward to the devs. Billy Buskell answered it on May 25th: "It is a larger bug that relates to Frostbite (the game engine underlying MEA) and they have reached out to the Frostbite team for help."

"Yeah, the audio cut out problem is a frostbite problem globally.. so...even if they were to fix it we would not be able to fix it for our game any more? errrm that would mean 'integrations and fancy things' errm so we are always looking at that of course and frostbites gonna try and fix that. but.."

So there you have it, it never got fixed and never will be fixed because of 'INTEGRATIONS AND FANCY THINGS"

It is two twenty sided dice with bioware corporate bull* words and expressions on them, When asked an awkward question you have to make a sentence with both of the words rolled on the two dice within 15 seconds for bonus points.
