Obvious damage control is obvious.

They probably release that their day one sales will suck because of competition and their own stellar PR campaign if it launched when originally intended.

It's how you express/assert your discontent for the game,  you make it look like the game stole your family or something.

I do, I wasn't agreeing with you 'for some kind of effect', I do agree.

I have more sympathy for the diversity position that you do, I suspect, and I'll play a female Co-op character in the Co-op mode because it's my 'Role Play' preference to do that in most games.

However, I do think the Battlefield V PR roll-out was cack-handed.

The E3 trailer with the 'bionic woman' was an 'ok' trailer of itself, if rather chaotic, but I think it was a poor choice to lead on because it didn't address the core game, it was frenetic fluff.
Something from the Rotterdam demo would have been a much stronger lead trailer.

Worse than that, the response from EA and DICE were fair comments to come from them as individuals, but they are marketing mouthpieces, so don't rile, reassure.
It didn't need to be a fight.
Sure there were some bigots getting triggered, but I suspect most who were upset were ordinary gamers with differing gameplay preferences.

TL;DR

I'm fine with what they have actually done with the game.
But I think the way they marketed it was clumsy.

And because of all that I don't believe the argument that they are delaying the game a month to 'polish it' as the total reason for the date change.
We're only 50 days from launch, such moves are not done lightly.
You don't forego 300 million financial cycle revenue and risk taking a 3 Billion stock value hit because you fancy taking some 'player feedback'

But I might have got that wrong.

I expect it plays similarly.

Quite possibly, my changed perception may relate to my own capability having improved a little.
I'll stay low and I'll watch where fire is coming from before running out to become sausage,,,

Open Beta starts tomorrow. Preorders and Access premier could Beta from yesterday. So far it feels good. And I'm winning.   But I have to work on the aim thing....

Damn, the beta starts just when I have a buttload of work to do...
