Lets see how many GOTY nominations MEA gets.... Though I enjoyed the game, I suspect it won't be many. My 'top' games are in my signature bar... If I had to pick 10 only, I'll go for: Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, Fallout 3, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed BF, DAI, and The Witcher III.

It's SOTFS. I haven't played any Dark Souls game yet, so it being different might not bother me half as much as it does a longtime fan of the series. Then if you have the cash to spare, go for it! I can thoroughly recommend 1 and 3 as well, though you absolutely will need to mod 1 to make it playable.

You liked BG more than BG II? Marginally, because I spent more time playing it, and it's the original. Can I count both games as 'one'?

Ah I like lists so here's my top 10 of best RPG's/Sandbox games. I haven't numbered them because I honestly don't know which one would be 1. It would probably be either New Vegas, Oblivion, ME2 or The Witcher 3 though.
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Fallout: New Vegas - Mass Effect 2 - The Witcher III - Mass Effect 3 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Golden Sun - Sleeping Dogs - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
It's still a shame that I can't count Andromeda as one of those few games which hold a special place in my heart. Let's hope that there will be a new ME game in the future which does manage to capture my interests.

If I had to pick my top 10 Mass Effect Andromeda wouldn't be on it but that's hardly indicative of anything because I wouldn't put Baldur's Gate or Jade Empire on there either despite the fact that I think they're great games.
The only games likely to be on there would be the first Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins, though I also tend to limit myself to 1 per franchise so the list isn't made up of 90% games from the same 2-3 franchises.
I've played a lot of games in my life. Making a list of my top 10 is a pretty exclusive list, so something not being on it doesn't make it a bad game(though ME:A was still mediocre imo).

Andromeda Would not make my top 10. Maybe my top 100, but while it is a good game i do think it is a quality drop for Bioware in a number of ways. Pacing issues making the middle seem like a slog were the biggest for me.
Bioware would make up most of my top 10 though of personal favorites (which is different than objectively best games. Super Mario Galaxy is an objectively great game but not really my style, etc.)
Off the top of my head, unofficially, and in order as best as I can:
1.) Portal 2 2.) Mass Effect 2 3.) Dragon Age: Inquisition 4.) Uncharted 2 5.) Tomb Raider 2013 6.) Dragon Age: Origins 7.) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 8.) Shadowrun: Dragonfall 9.) Civilization 4 10.) Super Mario Bros. 3

Half of my top ten would be Bioware. And Andromeda is up there.
- Dragon Age: Inquisition - Dragon Age: Origins - Final Fantasy X - Tales of Vesperia - Mass Effect 2 - Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Mass Effect Andromeda - Mass Effect - Uncharted 2 (Lost Legacy is making a push) - Assassin's Creed: Black Flag
Though the last few spots are murky as a lot of great games are equal there.

See I outright hated Dark Souls 2. Then again I has Scholar of the First Sin, which was the updated version with bullshit difficulty, so that could be why. Even then, I wouldn't rate Dark Souls 2 as a bad game per se. Was I disappointed, yeah, because I love the Dark Souls series. (Demon's Souls oddly enough being my favorite in some respects) It's on sale for a tenner this weekend on steam. Is it worth getting or is it that bad? If you like Dark Souls 1 or 3 and played one of them at least more than 1 time you can give it a try with Dark Souls 2. Buy all 3 DLCs for the vanilla Dark Souls II that is the only great experience what Dark Souls II is about or you can simply buy the Scholar of the First Sin, that one already includes all 3 DLCs. So i don't recommend Dark Souls II over Dark Souls 1 or 3 if this is going to be the entry in the franchise for you.

XCOM 2: 20th place Civilization V: 49th place *shakes head at list* Are we looking at the same list? I see Civ VI as the representative, placing 58th. That's the wrong Civ to use, IMO I'm more upset that Grim Fandango didn't place higher, though. I'm not sure if I'm more stunned to see Her Story in the top 20, or to see DA:O not place at all when both BG2 and ME2 did.

In no particular order because I don't have the time it would take to decide lol.
- Dragon Age: Origins - Mass Effect - Witcher III - Baulder's Gate II - Dragon's Dogma - Elder Scrolls: Skyrim - Elder Scrolls - Morrowind - KOTOR - Arkham City - Final Fantasy VI
This is just PC games, if I went to every game I ever played I could never even come close to making a list. Then I'd have to consider games like Tales of Vesperia, Xenogears, The Xenosaga series, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Lost Odessy, Star Ocean III, Valkyrie Profile II, man the list would go on and on.

How the hell do people rate Tomb Raider 2013 over Rise of the Tomb Raider, the sequel that took everything it did and made it 100 times better? And removed all of the QTE spam the 2013 game had.
This is the problem with lists. They are subjective bollocks.

Arguably better than any of the Mass Effects.

Dark Souls 2 is considered a good game, I found SoTFS to have a difficulty that boiled down to getting ganked by some enemy and his designated butt buddy. Idk if you have a PS3, but I'd be more tempted to recommend Demon's Souls.

XCOM 2: 20th place Civilization V: 49th place *shakes head at list* Civ V is shit though... it’s like Civilization for elementary students. Civ VI improved on it quite a bit, but one unit per tile needs to go... the AI is abysmal in V and VI. Series peaked at IV.

Ah, I see. They are different lists. I was looking at the critics' list.
Strangely, Fallout 2 is flagged as being on the fans' list but not the critics' list. But it is on the critics' list.
The two lists have different organizing principles, since multiple games from one series could get on the fans' list but not the critics' list, which is how all three MET games ended up placing.
Dunno how Civ V and VI end up placing while IV doesn't. The fans actually did better at recognizing older games than the critics did, so it isn't that.
At least DA:O made the fans' list.

At least DA:O made the fans' list. I just made a little metacritic search. I find it interesting that Obsidian never lost its fanbase. All their games in the last decade, FNV, as well as Pillars of Enternity or Tyranny rate in the 80ies. Only NWN2, which I personally loved, was faced with low user ratings. Bethesda never lost them until Fallout 4 and Bioware lost them with DA2. It seems the fans start leaving the company once they try a new approach. Something most of the fans aren't used to and don't desire. And the companies don't manage to draw in a sufficient new fanbase to make up for the disappointment of the old one.
