It's a close choice between ME3 and ME:A but ME:A's going to win out for being able to craft traits into the weapons and armor sets.

ME1 was the worst offender for me. The only armor I kinda liked was the Onyx armor, since it was the only basic armor that was black and had the N7 emblem. The stats were trash, so I just had the Spectre guns and max powers to kill everything quickly. I usually end up finding myself using the same armour in Mass Effect 1 for the first half of the game every time because I will end up getting a Scorpion IV and that's basically that until you can find Colossus or Predator. None of the other armours I seem to find in between ever have comparable stats. Yeah in most of my ME 1 playthroughs I will spend almost the entire first half of the game wearing stuff from the scorpion line of armors and then once the colossus and predator lines pop up I will end up in those. Once in a while a decent set of mercenary armor will pop up in between but I usually don't wear it long because not long after the colossus will pop up though I usually just get that from Bring Down the Sky.

I never got around to trying all the weapons in MEA but I do love choice so this is probably a toss up between 3 and A.

I voted ME3. It has the best and possibly most guns and some sleek armor. I just wish I could unlock all that cool armor sooner (no new game plus for me). ME2 has heavy weapons aww yeah. 1 has some neat armors and I like the Russian manufactured weapons. Andromeda has some really cool armor as well. I am talking about aesthetics here nothing more: Best guns and armor = ME3 Cool armor ok guns = MEA Ok armor gnarly guns = ME2 Ok armor and ok guns = ME1 The console commands in ME1 do have some neat armors. I say gnarly for ME2 due to the heavy weapons and punch of the mattock and revenant before they were nerfed in ME3. There isn't a ton of armor in 2. I like it, but it isn't as varied as 3. ME3 has the harrier and typhoon and lots of other cool stuff. MEA allows you to mod weapons much more extensively. Aesthetically some of the weapons can be a bit fugly but they still make dead Kett Also ME3 began allowing helmets off in conversations. What a simple but cool option to add.

ME3 Indra, Valiant, Black Widow... need I say more.......... although the ME:A Inferno and Black Widow or Isharay combo is really giving it a run for it's money... and I can carry two SRs at the same time... and not even take a weight penalty!... ( can't vote for two, eh?

Gear is for normals, but the Colossus armour from ME1 was pretty cool. The normals you say?...Ultimate Warrior was anything but normal....as he states in this promo...at around the 50 second mark.... ...WTF was the Ultimate Warrior talkin' about?... ....Dude did some kickass promos!... As far as the topic goes...it's a toss up between MEA and ME3 as far as armor goes, both have some nice armor sets, but i love the lancer and the Revenant was a beast in ME2....not sure what happened to that gun in ME3 tho....

This is the kind of shotgun that ME3 should make designs of. And they should've have a gunsmith/crafting system to customize and modify weapons.

I think ME3. Hated armor on ME1 - mostly because Onyx armor couldn't be found at X and it's the one I imagine a lot of us would choose. Better armor customization in the next 2 games.

I'm pretty sure I've gotten Onyx X armor at some point... not that I would have chosen to wear it regardless. Loved the Predator LMH series. In ME1, I liked that I could dress my entire squad as a team... all in the same brand of armor (except for Tali who didn't have a version of the Predator LMH stuff). If I wanted to make Shepard different to show rank, I could do that as well... usually then I would put him/her in Predator LMH and the rest of the team in the regular Predator stuff.

To my mind, Shepard should be different. S/he is the hero, the protagonist, and the only N7 in your squad. Shepard should have that mark of distinction. I'd bend a bit if we could place the N7 designation on any armor Shepard wore. For Onyx, the highest I ever remember finding was VIII. Maybe NG+ would offer X.

I don't think it has to be NG+, but I think you have to get to at or near Level 50 to start seeing it and I don't think it's that common. Pieces of Predator LMH, on the other hand are available through Shepard's Apartment (if you have the Pinnacle Station DLC). There is something, however, to be said for not making the commander too obviously the one in charge since it does prevent the enemy from targeting the one in charge. I always felt though that a military-based squad should dress as a squad and never liked the fact that the NPCs in ME2, 3 & even ME:A are all dressed individually. For example, Liam and Cora, for example, as part of the initial and official pathfinder team should at least start out in exactly the same gear as Ryder. I see no reason why they would all have different styles of hard suits and helmets at least at the outset since they haven't had any opportunities to start personalizing their stuff yet. Mostly though, I just didn't like the plain grayness of the Onyx stuff in ME1.. I preferred the camo. I would just roleplay that my Shepard never felt much of a need to boast about being N7 trained and special ops types are to be somewhat secretive anyways.

However, it's apparently a rule that ONLY those who have attained N7 can designate that on their uniforms. An N6 cannot do so. Also, military ranks often are denoted via stripes. Doesn't Anderson's hat have the stripes in ME3?

Certainly, the N7 is not a real designation of Shepard's rank... but the armor does set him up as a target that very likely does have the rank to go with it in a manner that is visible a mile away (without a great SR scope even).
