So you didn't actually watch the vid, viewing the earliest Titan page that listed Andromeda Initiative as the first novel to be released? The list you've cited above lists Initiation as the third novel to be released, which is likewise inaccurate. This is because the novel kept bouncing around, always in flux. It went from first to last to second, in the end. Keep digging into this if it's important to you. You'll eventually find that I'm correct. I'm bowing out of this conversation after this post, before it crosses into childishness. One of the earliest listings: media.titanbooks.com/filebrowser/2016_rights_guides_fiction_libf1.pdfThen, it got bumped to November 2016, nearly coinciding with the game's release. Around the time the game was delayed, the book's release date became very uncertain. It dropped from first to third on the list, with no solid date given. It finally reappeared just very recently, about a year late, as I said upthread. This is all available in one of the threads you linked. You just have to start reading from page one with the earliest posts in the thread. Look, you were there from the start of that thread and I was there. You link to the first glimpse we got that any books were planned at all (and when the first was expected to release in case the game would be released then), while I link to the first hint we got at the actual release schedule for the three books that were green lit in the end, the first hint at the Novels actual names and then to the official announcement. A comment on how long a book got delayed can IMO only be viable if compared to the officially announced schedule. That's all I'm saying. BTW: I get where you are coming from, because Jemisin was the first author to be mentioned while we waited for news, I just disagree, that the speculative status before the actual announcement is the right reference. I'm glad we could arrive at an agreeable disagreement. It's too rare in the BSN.

And after re-reading some more of the old stuff, I have to admit that I wasn't clear enough with my first posts although it was totally clear for me...

I am close to reading half the book now. Damn the transhuman theme in this book made me remember Javik's stories about what happened to the Zha'til when the Reapers invaded and took control of the AIs and mutated the organic bodies of their creators (the Zha). Also i am really liking the portrayal of Cora, Sam and Alec.

I love spoilers but I certainly understand those who do not want them. My book was supposed to be here yesterday and now Amazon says it will be here eventually, someday. I think it got lost in a black hole.

I actually bought the book. There is a grassroots movement called "Homeward Sol" and they oppose the expansion of humanity outside Earth's solar system because they thought more money was going into colony development instead of Earth.
I thought Cerberus and Terra Firma were batshit insane enough but Homeward Sol lol?

I just bought this as an ebook while making more essential purchases on Amazon. I'm sure it will be good, given the author and subject. I'll not be surprised if it leads to my jumping back into MEA, afterward.

All of my saves are 100%, so it would have to be a new PT for me. I just bought this as an ebook while making more essential purchases on Amazon. I'm sure it will be good, given the author and subject. I'll not be surprised if it leads to my jumping back into MEA, afterward. The book made me start a new game, so I can play my first Ryder who romances Cora. I always pick Cora for Scott. No one else feels right to me. I like their chemistry and feel like they're a good match. I also like how we get to know Cora better during a romance arc. I read the novel as I waited for my car to be serviced. (I waited at home, thankfully.) It is good. The lore is always spot on, and I only caught a minor discrepancy between Nexus Uprising and Initiation. It's not a big deal, but I'll sblock it below. I have always liked Cora, and felt that she had way more character than the shallow BSN analyses generally credit her. This novel really fills out her character, history and experiences well. Likewise for Alec. It is good to get some more time with him. I really wish this novel could've been read before the game. It would likely have helped some understand and accept why SAM is so central to the MEA story. I have no doubt now that it was by design, and not at all a matter of "getting carried away" with the SAM content. I had mused about a sequel with a protagonist without SAM, despite liking SAM. Now, I feel like that might not be a good idea, and would be highly unlikely regardless. The news updates and the like between chapters were great. This was a busy time in the ME universe as we know it. The people of 2185 may not have realized the full import of and connections between the various events, but we readers do. This is what happens when you hire a skilled author to write about a topic she knows well. This is a good book. I was on the fence about which game I'd play next. Now, I absolutely want to jump back into ME. I simply have to decide whether to do a full series PT, or just MEA. I almost forgot to add this to my post. It is a plot spoiler, so leave if you don't want to be spoiled.
Initiation shows personnel already in cryo well before departure. Nexus Uprising shows the crew being put into cryo on the eve of departure. Despite the numbers of people involved, the latter makes more sense to me. It was explained as a highly organized process and seemed feasible.
While the game makes no definitive statements concerning Hyperion, it implies the latter was the way it happened aboard Natanus. We read Macen Barro's messages concerning his final night before departure. It matches up with the process we read about in Nexus Uprising.
Not a huge deal at all; just a minor detail that varies slightly between novels. The fact that all established lore was accurately conveyed and integrated in this novel was refreshing.

I've actually felt tempted to read this novel again in the week since I first did so. I keep thinking back to certain scenes, events and characters I really enjoyed. Cora would've made a good protagonist herself. I might make this my "read to get sleepy" material for a few nights.

Hey dazk, you got me to visit after being way too busy with RL Thanks! Yeah, Cora is romancing my NOT on purpose "hot felon" look alike but it's been slow going with so much going on in other areas of my life. If we can't have DLCs to help me keep playing the games over and over, I like getting to have books to help me find other interests in the game.

I agree, book Cora (which we didn't get to see much of in the game because it wasn't focused on her) would make a good protagonist.

I'm torn on this one. On one hand, more pre-launch info on the Initiative would be a good thing. But, ugh, I just don't like Cora enough to want to read a whole book with her as the lead. Now, if Alec was the lead, I'd be all over that. I know what you mean. Cora is about the last person I want to read a book about. I'm hoping it's interesting even if it features Cora. Quoting myself: I changed my mind about Cora being interesting, after reading the book.

The books definitely make the start of the game so much more rounded if that makes sense and give you a much greater understanding of the current situation when you arrive. I think I keep playing it obviously because I like it but I think it is also some delusional hope that I am influencing the universe to make a DLC mysteriously arrive Do we get toe see an image of said "Hot Felon" look alike?

Quoting myself: I changed my mind about Cora being interesting, after reading the book. I never minded Cora even in the first PT, it seemed obvious they were setting her up for a fall by making her seem so hopelessly infatuated by the Asari and yes the book was very good and definitely made me appreciate her more.

I just use FRAPS, that said all games should have "Photo Mode" like Assassins Creed Origins, it is great. Pauses the game and you can move the camera around to get a better shot and has loads of features. It also posts your picture as an icon on the in game map so others can click on it to see it This is my favourite Ryder, who happens to also be a red head (dyed though):

I hit Printscreen, then tab out of the game (need to be in windowed mode), open Paint, paste in the screenshot, then save as whatever. DA makes it soooo much easier. I don't know why they can't use the same mechanic for ME games???
