Why? We can roughly assume that the Iniative has only been in Andromeda for a year and most of that year they were dealing with a resource crisis and an alien threat. I mean, tehy would have gone with that to get us to Andromeda rather than LOLODSY Drive I'm not sure that would have been a viable solution given the Council Governments A. were prohibiting the construction of new Mass Relays and B. also prohibited us from exploring new relays which would have made it hard to move them to a new location to make the bridge work. Plus I don't think anyone would have wanted to do it without knowing what is on the other end. Presumably it would have ben far better to get someone to Heleus, start constructing Mass Relays, get into contact with the MWG and start constructing a network from both ends in the 600 year time frame.

The AI is tens of thousands of people who want to travel to another GALAXY "because it's there" I would have found it a lot easier to swallow if the organization was secretly experimenting with a mysterious relay (that turns out to be a Leviathan escape tunnel or whatever) without Council knowledge.

Who knows what the ultimate objectives of the Iniative would have been, at least from an organizational standpoint, we probably will never get to find out because of its 'reception' and all. Oh well maybe one day. On an individualistic standpoint? It was well established that basically everyone had their own reasons for wanting to go to Andromeda.

That would’ve been a nice touch really. I chalked it up to a slight oversight. Maybe Bioware is still working on it to add more stuff. I don't know.

For something this small, I wouldn't bet on those sorts of details being added. I'm guessing that aside from any minor tweaks here and there to how this thing works, the actual content is going to remain as is. Anyway, am I missing something or am I not supposed to be able to get my Shep's custom name in there? I haven't made much time to really play around with this thing, but I notice that it's just John and Jane available for me.

I'm guessing that aside from any minor tweaks here and there to how this thing works, the actual content is going to remain as is. I was looking at the tapestry a moment ago, and there's a lot of stuff missing. Nothing about rescuing the Cerberus scientists. Nothing about having Ken and Gabby on the SR2 in ME3. Nothing about if Chorban is killed when scanning the keepers. No mentioning of Toombs in ME1. I'm having the same issue. I've even synced with my ps3. Most accomplishments are locked. In fact the only accomplishments it recognizes are the ones from ME3, or at least some of them, but none from ME1/2.

This is a great sign.
I had some personal information that this was going to be a thing (and no, not just me guessing that since DA did it, ME will) but then the news of it went dark so I supposed it'd stay dark.
But that they bothered to go through with it in later 2017 is a good sign. Enough that I'm again considering some tightlipped work on a MEA2 (or whatever) is happening and we'll have at least a minimal update or announcement in 2018, 2019 latest.
It is also a pretty site.
EDIT: Seems people are not so positive about this. Well, I am. I don't expect a game before Anthem and even DA4 of course, but this is a point towards intentions to continue Mass Effect after, albeit with many adjustments to what it'll be and how it'll be made.

If no delays, I can see it being released Nov 2019, 5 years after DAI was released. I would say any news about ME, as far as another game, would likely happen in 2020. Possibly E3 2020

There's not much, and its old news by now. The important part is that I thought such an expanded Archives/Tapestry was not going to happen, but it has happened, albeit not as totally featured as it might have been. I'm pleased.

Possibly E3 2020 I think 2019 announcement is just being more likely than before when I resigned to it being near impossible (and 2018 just possible to get rumblings and such; don't get me wrong, I don't expect any E3 things etc haha), but still if I were to safely guess, it would be 2020 announcement/hype and 2021-2022 release - depending on state of Bioware, its other games, and direction of course. The big thing this says to me is that there's something of Bioware that considers Mass Effect to be alive. I doubt they'd push this feature out otherwise, even if it was partially finished already. Waste of resources in that case.

With them doing the archive thing, I like for them to keep building on it to include more stuff from the trilogy that isn't currently there.

But ideal for MEA had it releasing 2015-2016 and we got 2017. And ideal for DAI/DA3 had it releasing 2013 and we got 2014. So the list you have there, consider adjustments to 2022, even 2023, or even Mass Effect still not happening ('Dead Spaced', etc, as many commentators say). Personally I hope it is indeed the sooner (2020-2021) rather than later and just refines and perfects the hell out of any existing MEA process. I don't need something that'a giant and costly leap forward, I want something that shows that they 'get' the series again. (Something some found in question during ME2-ME3 but had tons skeptical about during MEA.) I even mean this in the internal narrative; build up what exists in much more intriguing ways - you don't need a ME5 in yet another new galaxy or all about time travel or with deep space battle mechanics ahahaha. Just bring back the faith. That shouldn't take more than 2-3 years, as was the expected case for MEA before the (reported) off-railing of the development...

Also question: I have ME1-2 on Steam and ME3-A on Origin, so it doesn't convert so many achievements from ME1-2. Can I just toggle them all on without being locked out or any other bad consequence? I didn't do similarly in DA Keep so I don't know how this works.

With this, I see four different ways the franchise can go. Prequel - hey, First Contact War/Relay 314 incident. Canon ending - if they really wanted to piss off everyone. Reboot - God, why. Sequel - Andromeda 2, 'nuff said. Archives only make sense with Canon ending or Sequel. My personal preference for just the next game is: -Essentially Andromeda 2 in many ways, focus on Andromeda galaxy, includes some Heleus Cluster (especially built Nexus and whatever feature of other old like Aya and Eos updates and new planets), but more/most emphasis of the world beyond Heleus as best as the narrative and production can support -Ryder, or mixed Twin story depending on how people took that smaller part of MEA, or Ryder maintaining as an important character but no longer protagonist -Dips into a prequel history and perhaps surprising relevance, perhaps enough to elaborate enough details to encourage a legit prequel game (like revelations of spec ops better tech than usual Alliance, etc) -No reboot, at least in any direct sense -Potentially return to Milky Way, but not as focus, unless they do a focus in DLC narrative -Be very intelligent, provoking, but acceptable about how to treat ME3 and its ending, but address it nonetheless. IMO MEA has dealt with generalities of ME1-ME2+, so its time to at least generally deal with the fact that ME3 happened and you can't 'just' run away from it. -No 'Canon Destroy'. However I'm okay with a 'Bioware Path Merging' that makes a 'Mostly Destroy' sort of result for Milky Way to happen. -Don't be afraid of more Shepard. Do not have Shepard as protagonist or just 'got better'. Basicalllyyyy, I want a MEA that's much more compelling to me. The 'set up in Heleus' stuff and how they did it... was often pretty bland, and made worse with design choices towards my completionism (the zones, sidequests).

Well Anthem 2018 is fine because it was already delayed to that, but DA4 for 2019 makes no sense with them starting development on it this year, that's a 2020 release at best. Another ME games won't start until Anthem is released (so won't start to work on it until end of 2018/early 2019), then you add ~3 years of production/development and you end with 2022.

Not sure about 2020 DA4 because a studio can and does work on two games at the same time and Bioware hasn't just been twiddling their thumbs and conceptualizing a game over these years. Maybe, but like, that's not how it always works.

Maybe, but like, that's not how it always works. DA4 production started after MEA released. There was plenty of devs tweets, hiring and people being moved to a "new" project hinting at it. There was even a big meeting by the DA team leads a few weeks after MEA released to their new "minions". Mark Darrah teased DA4 pitches in 2016, but that doesn't mean they had the devs to work on it right there when Anthem and MEA were in full productions (and SWTOR team was working hard on KOTET).

That's too optimistic. Yeah we should be more prepared for 2022-2023 Mass Effect even if it just might end up better. Not sure about 2020 DA4 because a studio can and does work on two games at the same time and Bioware hasn't just been twiddling their thumbs and conceptualizing a game over these years. Maybe, but like, that's not how it always works. DA has been in Pre-Prod for a while now, but hadn't ramped up in any real way until after MEA wrapped up. The DA Writer's Pit only started coming together in Jan. this year. Add to that the Montreal studio's no longer there for support, and the resources tied up with Anthem right now, I wouldn't expect DA4 until 2020 or so either.

Fair enough. I'll go with late 2019 at the earliest, and 2021 at the latest (REALLY hopefully not that long). 2-4 years from now, with Anthem focus in the meantime.
*4 only if things go badly. Hello MEA.

I really like that we have an N7 day. It gives us all reason to talk about Mass Effect without even a hint of new game on the way and we get these little surprises Btw this page is getting serious, there are achievements and soundtracks and comics, very nice.
