Oh right, it is worth noting that the narratives aren't strictly canon compliant since they're pretty much AUs (Alternate Universes). So I'm willing to bend the canon a bit since I'm already bending it enough as it is. So you don't have to go for Kaidan and Liara. Garrus,James (although he won't show up just yet), Wrex, and more are all exceptional choices for the future narratives. |

Day 3 still no power at my house. My parents' place got power back this morning though, and my mom called the cops to check on me (I have a chronic and potentially serious medical condition, and I had no cell phone reception, so she was worried I guess). So I have the dubious honor of being that cop's youngest courtesy transport  The roads are solid ice, a combination of several inches of snow plus freezing rain, the city has run out of sand and salt for the roads, and I don't think we even own a snow plow. We just never get temperatures below freezing for more than a day at a time once or twice each winter, and now we've had several days of single digit (fahrenheit) temperatures. Our infrastructure can't handle this. Temps are supposed to reach above freezing tomorrow or Saturday for at least several hours, so things should stabilize then. Anyway, I just wanted to vent. Hope you don't mind. And I hope the rest of you are well! And thanks, polar vortex! |

My state has been hit by the storm as well, and I've been snowed in. One of my neighbors have tried to drive their car in thick ice for some reason and it was stuck and blocking the entire driveway in my apartment building for two days. One of my other neighbors just pushed it out of the way today.  It hasn't been this cold around here in a century.
And because the ice has been so thick we can't drive and public transportation is closed. Which means everyone has had to walk through the piling snow and ice to get essentials. My situation is not so dire though because I still have power on. Luckily things have started to melt just a bit today so I'm really hoping this storm will go away as soon as possible. In the meantime, stay safe dragon and anyone else who has been caught in the storm.

We didn't have storm here in Germany, but it was freezing cold with a lot of ice and snow. And then suddenly the temperature did raus about 15 degree (Celsius) in one day, now we have nearly spring temperatures.

So not having any winter here, if there's no power, what kind of meals are you having? Keep safe and warm, dragontartare .  Late last week they warned us about rolling blackouts of up to an hour, so I bought some sandwich fixings on Saturday just in case an outage lasted a bit longer. I definitely was not prepared to be unable to cook for days on end. My state has been hit by the storm as well, and I've been snowed in. One of my neighbors have tried to drive their car in thick ice for some reason and it was stuck and blocking the entire driveway in my apartment building for two days. Texas was warned 10 years ago to winterize the grid, but because this is a deregulated hellscape, that didn't happen  I'm glad your weather is improving. We got enough sun today to melt a lot of the ice on the roads, so I went to check on my house and throw away all the spoiled food. Power returned at around noon (finally!!), but there was still limited cell phone reception. I'm thankful we didn't lose running water like some other locations did. *gets giant fan for Australian summer heat* Was only 34 degrees celsius, not too bad. That would be a cool summer day for us as well  We are far, far more prepared for extreme heat than for freezing temps. I hope you don't end up with a hard winter storm in 6 months, too. On Eden Prime, the sky burned red.
The once prosperous human colony smelling of death and ruin. The sun still shining while the colony was clouded in destruction.
The moments afterwards did not fare better for Shepard and her mission. Jenkin's body immediately laid on the ground, and Nihlus would soon join the fallen soon from the likes of Saren. Shepard would meet a sole survivor, and the geth would continue to attack the colony with Saren leading the army.
And just for a brief moment, Shepard spotted an ominous ship hovering over the horizon. Foreboding, dark, and alien. To say this mission became complicated would be an understatement.
But Shepard raged on, with the assistance of the sole survivor, Ashley, and the Normandy's Staff Lieutenant, Kaidan. As an Engineer, geth weren't a problem for Shepard as the duo quickly discovered. There they made quick work of the geth, trying their best to salvage the mission. But there amidst the ruins of Eden Prime stood the Prothen beacon. Shepard quickly contacted the Normandy while Kaidan and Ashley stood agape. The Prothean beacon glowed, perplexing the Gunnery Chief.
"It wasn't doing anything like that when we dug it up," Ashley said aloud, "Something must have activated it,"
Then slowly, Ashley stepped towards the glowing beacon, wanting to inspect it further. One step closer and the beacon quickly flashed, drawing Ashley in. Without another second wasted, Shepard immediately ran towards Ashley, grabbing her and tossing her away from the artifact. Everything thing else darkened for Shepard. Her surroundings closing in while Ashley's cries grew faint.
All Shepard could see was flashing, indecipherable images. Full of more ruin and death. And then there was darkness.

"I, think, I think she's waking up,"
Blue suddenly surrounded Shepard, along with Ashley's voice. They were at the med bay of the Normandy. Shepard rubbed her head, awaiting Chakwas to enter her vision.Yet the only two people she saw were Ashley and Kaidan.
"How long was I out?" Shepard asked, still regaining her bearings. Shepard slowly raised from her cot, and could immediately sense something else was afoot in the med bay.
"About fifteen hours," Kaidan said. Shepard noted there was a slight hitch in his voice. Shepard looked around, it wasn't like Chakwas to be absent from the med bay during a situation like this.
"Is something the matter Lieutenant?" Shepard eyed Kaidan, who glanced at Ashley, and then back at Shepard.
"It's Doctor Chakwas," Kaidan said, "She's, she's gone,"
Shepard suddenly stood straight from the cot.
"A squad of geth ambushed Chakwas and some of our men while she was out tending to the wounded of Eden Prime," Kaidan's head lowered as he spoke, "There were no survivors,"
As Shepard processed what Kaidan said, she lowered her head as well. In that brief moment, before Anderson briefed Shepard about the developing situation, Shepard exhaled. Would she be able to stomach all of this again? The possibly high body count, the lingering memories of the dead? The nightmares? Shepard stared at the familiar spot where Chakwas used to stay by and give her usual small talk to Shepard. She closed her eyes. Only time will tell.
