Tie Breaker Results - Dossier : Archangel -media.giphy.com/media/Uue8tci27Iy1RmG0MP/giphy.gifIt didn't take Shepard very long before she was on the move and looking for her next recruits. This time she was in Omega, and her eyes were on two persons of interest. One was a salarian doctor while the other was a turian vigilante. The latter piqued Shepard's interest since she had very little information about the vigilante, and yet his credentials seem a bit familiar. Too familiar. A brief thought passed Shepard's mind, wondering if this vigilante was somehow her old turian friend, but she quickly brushed it off. The thought was wishful thinking at best, and Shepard knew it. Wherever Garrus was, he was eons away from the lawless space asteroid. But Shepard hoped he was okay, along with her former old squad mates.
Shortly, Shepard was soon a freelancer for the Eclipse, Blood Pack, and Blue Suns. The mercenary groups were all hunting down the vigilante, Archangel. Shepard made sure to ask questions to numerous mercs about the situation. Apparently, this one vigilante have been pissing off all of the mercs in Omega for a couple of months. So now it was time for the turian to finally pay for his troublesome deeds. Unfortunately for the mercs, Archangel has had great position in picking them off from right up in his hideout. So after some digging, Shepard learned that they plan on distracting Archangel with various methods in order to get to him and take him out once and for all.
As Shepard was gathering information and sabotaging nearby tech, she quickly noticed one of the merc's heads getting blown right off. What was left of the freelancer lied dead, several feet away from Shepard. The merc was right on the vigilante's sights, and it seemed he didn't waste any time. As Shepard studied the dead body in front of her, she couldn't help but experience a strange sense of deja vu. As soon as she whipped her head to catch a glimpse of Archangel, the mysterious vigilante had already vanished. The precision, the speed, Shepard thought, but she quickly shook her head in order to focus on the present.
As Shepard was mulling over her recent thoughts, Sergeant Cathka of the Blue Suns was soon in front of her, ready for their assault. As Cathka continued to work on the gunship they had in stored for Archangel, an idea quickly formed within Shepard's head.
"Sergeant Cathka," Cathka quickly introduced himself, giving Shepard a brief once over, "Ah, you must be the group Salkie mentioned. You're just in time,"
"Salkie?"
"You met him when you were dropped off. He radioed to say you were coming," Cathka replied, motioning himself towards Salkie's direction.
"You three kinda stand out from most of the freelancers," Cathka continued, eyeing the other two squad mates behind Shepard, "Anyway, the infiltration team is about to give us the signal. Archangel won't know what hit him,"
"Got any questions? This may be your last chance," Cathka asked, pulling out a cigarette.
"Are you going to cover us with that gunship?" Shepard asked, pointing at the piece of machinery behind them.
"Ha! Tarak is the only on who flies her," Cathka replied, blowing out cigarette smoke, "Besides, she's not quite ready. That bastard Archangel gave her a beating last time she was out there. A few more tweaks, and she'll be good as new,"
"Why are you coordinating the attack and fixing gunships?"
"I'm the infiltration group. Our team coordinates with the gunship," Cathka shrugged, "I'm staying back to organize the freelancers and make sure the gun is ready to go if we need her,"
"Okay, so our plan is to jump the wall and head for Archangel's building?" Shepard asked.
"And try not to get killed too fast," Cathka added, "You're only a distraction as long as you're alive. You don't have to make it all the way across,"
"Just keep Archangel watching that bridge. The infiltration team will do the rest,"
Cigarette smoke was soon lazily clouding the pair. Shepard's eyes squinted at the hazy smoke as she tried to clear the air with her hand, "Are you leading the assault?"
"Ha! Tarak doesn't pay me to fight. I just plan the attacks and fix the damn gunship," the smoking batarian replied, "You freelancers get the privilege of-"
Another freelancer interrupted Cathka's thought, "Target is in sight. We're a go,"
"Check. Bravo team - go,go,go!" Cathka ordered, as the group of freelancers soon made their way to the bridge, Cathka couldn't help but grin, "Archangel's got quite the surprise waiting for him,"
"But that means no more waiting for me," Cathka continued, making his way back to the gunship. As Cathka leaned down to continue his repairs, Shepard was right behind him with something deadly in her grasp, "Gotta get her back to a hundred percent before Tarak decides he needs her again,"
"You're working too hard," Shepard said, as electrocution coursed through Cathka's body. Not soon after, Cathka's body was limp and twitching, and Shepard was just getting started.
---
As the freelancers made their way across the bridge, numerous bodies began to fall as Archangel quickly made work of the sluggish group. The amateurs barely stood a chance, but they kept Shepard's recruit distracted. As Shepard briefly eyed Archangel's small silhouette from across the bridge, a grin graced her lips as she cracked her knuckles.
"Come on. We'll give these guys a surprise of our own," with those words said, Shepard and her team quickly drew their weapons to eliminate the remaining freelancers attempting to cross the bridge. As she started shooting, a sniper rifle bullet graced her shoulder, only damaging her shields. Shepard looked back at the culprit and saw the familiar silhouette from above staring at her intently.Staring back, Shepard's grin grew even wider.
"She's with Archangel!" A freelancer hollered as one of Shepard's own finished them off.
Most of the freelancers were soon on the ground, with Shepard and her squad left standing, making their way up Archangel's hideout. As Shepard made her way up the stairs, she couldn't help but chew on the bottom of her lip. Various thoughts clouded her head, but she soon silenced them as she finally got to the door. At this point the suspense was nearly getting to her. The last freelancer that was right in front of the door inside of the hideout didn't help matters either, as Shepard quickly knocked him out cold.
"Archangel?" Shepard said as she opened door with her guns lowered, her eyes widening as she gave the vigilante a thorough once over.
There was one last freelancer still lurking on the bridge hiding. But as he clumsily got out of cover, Archangel quickly fired before the freelancer could properly react. Moments later, the turian vigilante heard the door quickly open. Looking at the group in front of him finally caused him to lower his sniper rifle. He shook his head in a moment of disbelief before he took off his helmet. Did ghosts truly walk among us, or was he as dead as his old Commander? The thought still lingered within the vigilante's mind as he finally made his greeting.
"Shepard?" Garrus exhaled, as he sat down, facing the phantom in front of him, "I thought you were dead,"
Shepard's smile covered most of her face as she heard the familiar voice. This greatly puzzled the two squad mates behind the pair, as Shepard has usually been a walking grimace ever since she came back from the dead. Shepard didn't pay them any mind however, as she briefly stretched her arms to greet her old friend.
"Garrus!" Shepard gasped, her smile still blinding, "What are you doing here?"
"Just keeping my skills sharp, a little target practice," Garrus replied, motioning towards the dead bodies still lying on the bridge.
"You okay?"
"Been better," Garrus noted, briefly glancing down before meeting Shepard's gaze, "But it sure is good to see a friendly face. Killing mercs is hard work, especially on my own,"
"What are you doing out here in Omega?" Shepard asked, her eyes still wide.
"I got fed up with all the bureaucratic crap on the Citadel. Figured I could do more good on my own,"
"At least it's not hard to find criminals here," Garrus slightly shrugged, "All I have to do is point my gun and shoot,"
"Well, how did you manage to piss off every major merc organization in the Terminus Systems?"
"It wasn't easy. I really had to work at it," Garrus said, "I'm amazed that they teamed up to fight me. They must really hate me,"
"And since when did you start calling yourself Archangel?" Shepard asked, with raised eyebrows.
"It's just a name the locals gave me, for all my good deeds" Garrus replied with a chuckle, "I don't mind it. But please, it's just 'Garrus' to you,"
As Shepard came up with yet another question to ask, despite the rather dire situation, Garrus couldn't but titter to himself. He truly missed the Commander's random bouts of inquisitiveness, no matter the situation.
"You nailed me good a couple of times, by the way," Shepard noted, as she rolled her head from side to side.
"Concussive rounds only. No harm done. Didn't want the mercs to get suspicious,"
"Uh huh,"
"If I wanted to do more than take your shields down, I would have done it," Garrus said, "Besides, you were taking your sweet time. I needed to get you moving,"
"Well, we got here, but I don't think getting out will be easy," Shepard noted as she walked a little closer to Garrus.
Garrus quickly stood up to meet Shepard, "No it won't. That bridge saved my life, tunneling all those witless idiots into scope,"
"But, it works both ways. They'll slaughter us if we try to get out that way," Garrus continued, motioning towards the doomed direction,
"It's not all that bad, though," Garrus said as he paced back and forth, "This place has held them off so far. And with the three of you..."
"I suggest we hold this location, wait for a crack in their defenses, and take our chances. It's not a perfect plan, but it's a plan,"
"I didn't like sneaking anyway," Shepard said with a sly grin on her face, "Time to spill a little merc blood,"
"Glad to see you haven't changed," Garrus said as he peered outside of his hideout, "Let's see what they're up to.."
Garrus quickly looked into his scope to assess the situation, "Hmm, looks like they know their infiltration team has failed,"
Garrus then preceded to toss Shepard his rifle so she could take a look. As Shepard looked on, she noticed Eclipse scouts headed toward the bridge with mechs in tow. As Shepard looked down on one stumbling mech, she fired away, knocking its head right off.
"More than scouts, one less now though,"
"Indeed. We better get ready. I'll stay up here. I can do a lot of damage from this vantage point," Garrus noted, "You...you can do what you do best,"
Without another word, Shepard quickly got into position to wreak havoc. Before Garrus even drew his rifle, mechs were already in tatters, as Shepard quickly made a mess of their systems. Garrus couldn't help but twitch his mandible as he scored a head shot from a nearby merc.
"Just like old times, Shepard,"
-----
The second wave of the mercs then commenced. Shepard, her crew, and Garrus rained bullets on the Eclipse mercs and mechs that marched on. Shepard couldn't help but shake her head. Surely this wasn't the best these mercs had to offer.
As Garrus was still resting in his hideout, sniping down the last of the Eclipse elites, Jaroth was basically fuming out of his ears. The Eclipse leader's patience had thoroughly ran its' course.
"If you want something done properly..." Jaroth said with clinched fists, "All right. Let's see how you handle this, Archangel,"
Before the small group stood a hulking mech, ready to tear the group into shreds. A knowing smile, however, graced Shepard's face as the mech already started to malfunction.
"This problem should take care of itself," Shepard said aloud as the imposing mech turned to its allies and torn them to shreds. The group continued on, eliminating the last of the Eclipse before eliminating the sabotaged mech itself. Soon Jaroth was the only Eclipse left. But without a mech or a team, the leader stood no chance as he too fell with the rest.
"You're kicking ass, Shepard. They barely touched me," Garrus said as Shepard made her way back into the hideout to regroup, "And we got Jaroth in the process. I've been hunting that little bastard for months,"
"Why were you after him?"
"He's been shipping tainted eezo all over Citadel space," Garrus said, "Half the goods I see back at C-sec, came from his team in Omega. I took out a big shipment from awhile back and killed his top lieutenant in the process. Not surprised he decided to work with the other mercs after that,"
"We've still got Blood Pack and Blue Suns left. Think we can make a break for it?" Shepard asked.
"Maybe, let's see what they're up to," Garrus responded, walking over to take another look at the situation, "They've reinforced the other side...heavily,"
"But they're not coming over the bridge yet," Garrus continued, "What are they waiting for?"
As soon as Garrus asked the question, the very ground slightly shook as a blaring noise wailed throughout the hideout.
"What in the hell was that?" Zaeed asked incredulously.
"Damn it, they breached the lower level" Garrus muttered as he checked his omni-tool, "Well, they had to use their brains eventually. You'd better get down there, Shepard. I'll keep the bridge clear,"
"I'll go down there alone, these two can watch your back," Shepard said, ordering her two squad mates with a slight head nod.
"You sure? Not even a little back up, Shepard? Who knows what you'll find down there,"
Shepard simply nodded in response, "You two, stay with Garrus. Keep him alive,"
"I'll be back before you know it," Shepard said, already closing the door behind her as she reloaded her gun for the next wave.
---
The journey to close the shutter doors was hard work. Countless Blood Pack kept coming to keep Shepard at bay, but Shepard continued on. Shepard's new combat drone kept most of them distracted, as she rained fire and ice upon countless vorcha and varren in the process. As bullets stripped her shields away, a small part of Shepard wished she did have a little backup, but she knew Garrus needed as much help as he could get at the moment. So if a few varren had to chew at her ankles in the process, so be it.
Garrus remained closed within the comms, telling Shepard the situation, until it suddenly went silent. That can't be good, Shepard thought as she finally closed the last shutter, I need to hurry back.
Before Shepard could make it back on time however, Garm had lost his patience with Archangel and his new gang. He would be damned if he let this righteous turian escape his grasp this time. So with two vorcha in tow, Garm seized his opportunity to make his way towards the coveted hideout. Garrus was distracted by his team's formation within the bridge, thus the krogan managed to slip his way right to the front door. As the leader of the Blood Pack opened the door, he noticed two people that stood before him. One was unfamiliar, while the other he had heard about from the Blue Suns. He could care less who they were though, as they stood in the way of Garm finally getting Archangel. Meanwhile, Garm noticed that Archangel was still temporarily distracted, and another of his team was currently AWOL.
The Collectors did not remotely pay Zaeed enough to join Shepard's crew. For the first time in years, Zaeed felt truly exhausted being involved with Shepard's shenanigans. First that damned prison, now this? As a merc himself, Zaeed was used to his occasional brushes with death, but at this rate, the aged human will be as dead as Shepard was if he continues on at this rate. Now, Shepard is gone, her turian friend is still preoccupied, and he is now face to face with a hulking krogan who would rip him to shreds given the chance. In his experience with tough sons of bitches like these, Zaeed knows that the only way to keep strong krogan down is with a lot of grenades and rockets.
"No time for talk, huh?" Zaeed huffed as he pulled out a grenade launcher, " Well, then eat this you son of a bitch!"
Grenades soon blasted the krogan and his vorcha before Garrus or the other squadmate had time to respond. The vorcha was quickly taken care of, but Garm still stood. As Zaeed kept lobbing grenade after grenade towards Garm, Garrus quickly dove for cover as he tried to contact Shepard. Meanwhile, a weakened Garm roared as he tackled the other squad mate. The inflamed krogan wrestled with the squad mate, until the tackled victim quickly tried to reason with the panicked krogan. Confused, enraged, and in panic, Garm eventually tossed the talking squadmate aside to finally deal with Zaeed once and for all. He'll deal with the fast talker later.
Zaeed roared within the hideout, still chucking grenades at Garm. But it only seemed to make the tough krogan even angrier, and before long, Garm hurriedly knocked the grenade launcher away from Zaeed's hands and tackled Zaeed straight into the ground.
"Shepard! Can you hear me? You better get here quick. Garm has one of yours pinned to the ground," Garrus chirped into Shepard's comms.
"Gotcha. Headed straight your way," Shepard responded, sprinting back before true harm could be made.
As Shepard made her way back into the hideout, She had to mow down a couple of Blood Pack along the way. By the time she made it back, even Shepard manage to break a sweat as she quickly assessed the situation.
Zaeed was down and in a puddle of blood. Garm was severely on fire and charging towards Garrus. As Garm made his move, Garrus quickly dove away from the charging krogan, causing Garm to collide with the wall. Shepard also noticed a grenade launcher near Zaeed's body and quickly picked it up. There was only two left, but that was all Shepard needed. With brief eye contact, Garrus and Shepard knew just what to do to bring the enraged krogan down.
With a couple of shots, Garrus had Garm distracted. With a grunt, Garm roared and charged again, this time hitting his target. As Garm started to wail at the his weakened foe, Garrus managed to escaped his grasp to get Shepard's attention.
"Now, Shepard!"
"Hey! Dodge this, asshole!" Before Garm could to respond to Shepard's taunt, Shepard lobbed two more grenades, setting the krogan aflame once more. This was all the leader could take, and he soon fell right on top of Garrus's exhausted form.
---
"Thanks Shepard, they hardly got through to me," A limping Garrus said while looking down at a bloodied and down Zaeed, "Your friend on the other hand..."
"He'll be fine," Shepard said as Zaeed continued to groan. Shepard grabbed her shoulder in response, "Well maybe,"
"At least we took out Garm and his Blood Pack," Garrus said, "Your wounded friend aside, this day just gets better and better. He was one tough son of a bitch,"
"You fought with him before?"
"Yeah we tangled once. Caught him alone. None of his gang to help him," Garrus responded, his eyes clouding once more, "I still couldn't take him out. I've never seen a krogan regen that fast. He's a freak of nature,"
"He just kept at it until his vorcha showed up," Garrus continued looking down at Garm's charred body, "It was close, but I had to let him go. Not this time,"
"Only the Blue Suns are left," Shepard huffed looking down at Zaeed as she made her way to his lying body, "I say we all take our chances and fight our way out,"
"I think you're right. Tarak's got the toughest group, but nothing we haven't face before," Garrus nodded.
Zaeed deeply groaned in response as Shepard slapped medi-gel on him. He couldn't take it anymore. The Collector's huge payment was simply not worth it working with this ruthless and undead woman. By the time Shepard is done with the merc, Zaeed knows he would be reduced to violent bits if she had her say.
"Shepard," Zaeed groaned, "I can't do this anymore, I give up,"
"Oh come on Zaeed," Shepard said as she pressed on his injured body once more causing him to scream, "Don't tell me Garm got the best of you. I honestly expected more from an experience merc,"
"Goddamnit Shepard, enough of the bullshit!" Zaeed snapped, "I work for the damned Collectors! They paid me to spy on you! But now I've run out of gas and I can't take it anymore!"
"Yeah, I had my suspicions," Shepard said, kneeling over Zaeed's weak form with a gun in hand, "And now that I've finally made you squeal, you won't be breathing free air anytime soon. But for now, you work for me, just this one final time. And you're going to help me, Garrus, and our friend here get the hell out of here alive. And if you don't, you're going to wind up just like old Garm over there. Understood?"
Zaeed did not have much options at his disposal, so with another groan, he nodded.
"Good, now get your ass up. We have some more mercs to kill," As Shepard said the gunship soared right on queue, aiming straight at the hideout.
As the gunship rained bullets throughout the based, the group headed straight for cover.
"Damn it, I thought I took that thing out already!" Garrus huffed. Shepard was in cover right next her partner, with her two squad mates on the other side of the room.
"They fixed it, but not completely. I made sure of that," Shepard responded. Seconds later, Blue Sun troops stormed right into the room. The group made them fall, and the gunship flew right back up. It was a hard fought battle, but the Blue Sun troops eventually fell down like the rest, as the gunship seemingly flew away injured and broken.
Meanwhile, Garrus continued to scan his surroundings. Until he felt the gunship right behind him. With an enraged Tarak inside.
"Archangel!" The leader of the Blue Suns shouted, gunship still flying. Without another beat, the gunship unloaded bullets right towards Garrus' body as he fell to the ground. Without another moment to lose, Garrus' weak form quickly crawled to cover as the gunship continued it's attack.
"This ends now!" Tarak shouted, as a rocket headed straight for Garrus. Shepard saw this and immediately pushed Zaeed straight into the rocket's direction. Zaeed couldn't respond in time as he was blown and knocked out in seconds. Unfortunately, a second rocket fired and landed straight towards its' intended target this time, much to Shepard's dismay.
Shepard quickly dove for cover and right next to Garrus' now bloodied body. As soon as Shepard saw blue blood, her own blood started to drain from her face. "Garrus!"
As the other ally saw what remained of Zaeed and Garrus, they too froze. Now there was only Shepard and her ally that remained, and Shepard would be damned if she was going to die without making Tarak pay for it.
The gunship hurled towards the pair, but they stuck to cover and attacked when the bullets stopped. Slowly, but surely, the gunship was in smoke once again. After another strategic incinerate, the gunship finally blew up with a screaming Tarak inside. Despite making out of Omega alive and getting a Collector spy, Shepard, was in no mood for celebration. Her old friend was covered in his own blood. Scarred and barely clinging to life.
Shepard knelt down and touched the dying vigilante's shoulder. From that contact alone, Garrus's eyes shot up and he gasped for life.
"Garrus!" Shepard gasped as he nudged him over to his back. Shepard's ally brought up their omni-tool to check his vitals.
"We're getting you out of here! Just hold on!" Shepard said, still in contact with Garrus's shoulder.
"He's not going to make it," Zaeed interjected with a faint laugh, coughing up blood in the process, "And you won't make it either, not with the Collectors, and not for very long,"
"Shut it, you! If you're not dead by the time we get out of here, I'll make sure you won't see the light of day! You hear me?"
But Zaeed couldn't hear the Commander's voice any longer. His blood loss was too great, and his head was spinning. The old and traitorous merc eventually slipped into the darkness before Cerberus could rescind their payment in full.
-----
Down in the War Room, Shepard was hunched over across from Jacob. From the look on the operative's face, it seems things weren't looking good for Garrus.
"Commander, we've done all we could for Garrus," Jacob said as he hung his head down. In that moment, Shepard's blood chilled as she continued to look down on to the floor," But, he took a bad hit,"
"The docs corrected with surgical procedures and some cybernetics," Jacob continued, "Best we can tell, he'll have full functionality, but-"
"Shepard," the door opened and there stood Shepard's old squad mate, now scarred and slightly battered. As Shepard took in Garrus's status, Shepard blew out air she didn't know she was keeping from within.
"Tough son of a bitch," Jacob chuckled, "Didn't think he'd be up yet,"
"Nobody would give me a mirror," Garrus tittered as he walked forward. As Garrus got a little closer to Shepard, the Commander could feel her blood warming up once more, "How bad is it?"
"Hell, Garrus, you were always ugly," Shepard said, trying to keep a cool composure, "Slap some face paint on there, and no one will even notice,"
Garrus erupted in a fit, "Hah! Don't make me laugh, damn it! My face is barely holding it together as it is!"
"Now, I've heard some women find scars attractive," Garrus continued, making Shepard slightly fidget, "Mind you, most of them are krogan,"
Shepard quickly exhaled and shook her head in response. Seconds later, Jacob made his leave, leaving the pair alone for the first time.
"Frankly I'm more worried about you," Garrus said with his head slightly down, "Collector spies running about, and I've heard the bad things about Cerberus over these past years,"
"That's why I'm glad you're here, Garrus," Shepard replied with a slight smile, "If I'm walking into hell, I want someone I can trust at my side,"
"You realize this plan has me walking into hell too? Hah, just like old times,"
"I'm fit for duty whenever you need me, Shepard," Garrus said, "I'll settle in and see what I can do at the forward batteries,"
With the pleasantries, betrayal, and other surprises done for the day, it was now time to settle in for the night. Shepard had her eyes set for her last recruit, the salarian, and then it was time for the next major mission ahead.

Unrelated, but when I recruit Archangel, I don't like taking Zaeed with me because I worry that he'll join back up with the mercs and hurt Garrus. I mean, I know he won't, because he isn't programmed to do so, but in my head it could happen

I mean, I know he won't, because he isn't programmed to do so, but in my head it could happen Yeah, he's one of the founders of the Blue Suns and Shepard just met him at that point, so there's definitely a reason for suspicion there.
I also forgot to inform you guys that for the people whose abilities were deactivated last round, there abilities are reactivated now. Sorry about that!

Thanks, dad and Cati. Although I hope the narratives I've been writing lately haven't been too long for everyone. I always plan on writing a decent amount. But by the time I finish, I always wind up scrolling down on it a lot longer than I expected.

Dossier - The Professor -
media.giphy.com/media/m5oQabBdoOye4/giphy.gif
Omega "nights" felt the same as the days. Long and lawless. With the asteroid's orbital period lasting for about seven Earth years, Shepard was too aware that time lingered on in Omega longer than she preferred. So plenty of time was always on the side of Omega's shady mercs; with more time, comes more bloodshed a debauchery. But Shepard was not looking for cheap thrills within the asteroid. She had one last person of interest she needed to recruit for her team. The recruit is a salarian doctor who runs a clinic in Omega. He also so happens to have expertise in biological weapons and has had training in the Salarian Special Tasks Group. The doctor with the interesting background seemed more than valuable in possibly helping with the mission. So before Shepard could take in more of the Omega sights, she was before a security guard of Aria's who was blocking entry to the very residential section that the Clinic presided in.
An exasperated human was in front of the guard, making her case to let her inside, but the security guard didn't seem inclined to budge on his position.
"I told you to get lost, lady! The plague has the whole zone quarantined! Nobody gets in!," The security guard said with a huff as Shepard inched closer to the arguing pair.
"I'm human, you ass!" the woman hissed, "Humans can't get the plague! Now let me get my stuff out before looters get it!"
The turian guard however, shook his head in response, "This thing affects every other race out there! We're not taking chances. Nobody gets in until the plague has run its course,"
"So you're saying the slums are completely sealed off?" Shepard asked, not bothering for pleasantries.
"Finally, a human that can hear. Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying," the guard said with a nod.
"You can't keep me out! I'm going to lose all of my stuff!" the woman said while raising her hands frantically.
"I'm doing you a favor, human. Anybody in the quarantine zone will be dead from the plague or the gangs in a few weeks,"
Shepard could sense that the two in front of her was going to keep arguing in circles, so she quickly butted in before the cycle could start anew, "There's a salarian named Mordin Solus in slums. I've got to get in there to find him,"
"The doctor?" the security guard's eyes widened a little as he heard the name, "Crazy bastard opened a clinic in the district a few months ago. The Blue Suns weren't too happy when he moved in,"
"I hear Mordin's trying to deal with the plague. I wish him luck, but the area is still locked down. Our orders are to wait until either plague or the Blue Suns kill everyone, then go in and clean up,"
Shepard, however, was not going to take no for an answer, "Take a good, long look at me. Do I look like a looter?"
"Uh, no?"
"That's right. Now I'm going in. If I find looters, I'll kill them," Shepard said. An orange, ominous glow from a scar along her jawline intimidated the guard more than he liked to admit, "Anybody gets in my way, I'll kill them too,"
Looking at Shepard was more than enough for the guard to make his decision, "I'll, uh, call the guards. They'll let you in with no trouble,"
"Wait, you're stopping me but not them?" The woman said with a scowl on her face, "You son of a bitch!"
"You don't have a grenade launcher lady, get lost,"
As Shepard was ready to march ahead, she met with the two squad mates right behind her. As she stared at her allies however, she realized with the deadly plague inside, some last minute decisions should be made before going in. Before Shepard could say anything, Garrus was a second ahead of her as he crossed his arms and shook his head.
"A quarantine zone for a plague that kills turians," Garrus sighed, "Why don't we go anywhere nice?"
Shepard gave out a light chuckle, but she knew what needed to be done. So with a last minute switch, a plague resistant squad member joined Shepard, and a healthy Garrus went back to the Normandy to ready himself for the next mission.
----
As Shepard entered the plagued district, she and her other square mate felt no affects or symptoms of the plague as they trekked on. One other ally however, started lightly coughing within moments. Shepard frowned, and quickened her pace towards Mordin's clinic. She thought about keeping her newly acquired squad mate back to the Normandy along with Garrus. Something told Shepard however, that she might need his protective capabilities during this mission and decided to take a risk. As his coughing fits became more concerning, the young ally refused to admit that he was sick, and stated that he never gets sick with a hefty cough. Shepard quickened her pace even further. She hoped that the risk she took would be worth it.
Shepard also noticed that vorcha within the Blood Pack were also as healthy as she was within the sickly district. And as she continued to advance within the Omega district, she was soon met with a sick batarian. Immediate hostility overcame the batarian's demeanor as he noticed the three figures before him.
"Human. Should have guessed," the sick man weakly noted with a cough, "Bad enough you infect us with this plague. Now you lack the decency to even wait until I die before you come steal my possessions,"
"Humans didn't create this plague," Shepard responded, shaking her head.
"Lies dripped from your mouth. I have blood from my sores. The proof is there for all to see!" the batarian said, ending his words with a violent coughing fit.
"Your species is the only one that does not succumb to the virus. Yours and the vorcha," the ill batarian finished, with venom in his eyes.
"Is there anything I can do for you?" Shepard said as she kneeled next to untrusting plague victim. As Shepard met his eyes again, however, the sick man pulled out a gun in response.
"Get away from me, human! Your kind has done too much already! Your plague did this to me. Your feigned pity is the final insult!"
"Do you by any chance know who or where Mordin Solus is?" Shepard said as she slightly backed away from the hostile victim.
"Humans looking for the human sympathizer," the victim scoffed, "I hope the vorcha burn Mordin and his clinic to the ground,"
"I hope you..I hope..," the victim continued, coughing along the way, "Damn it. Damn you. Can't..."
Shepard could see the sickly victim was falling dangerously ill to the plague, and quickly dispensed medigel on the victim for assistance, "Hey, stay with me! This won't cure the plague, but it might help a bit,"
With the medicine coursing through his body, the plague victim's coughing fit finally desisted, and he was able to breathe and stand up again. As Shepard met his eyes once more, the batarian stood dumbfounded, "You..you helped me. Why?"
"It's what I do," Shepard shrugged, "I don't know if I can find a cure for this plague, but I'll try,"
"Your words sound...sincere. Maybe it's the fever, but as you said -- What have I to lose?" the plague victim noted, "What do you wishe to know?"
Shepard preceded to ask the former hostile victim about the nearby vorcha, Mordin's whereabouts, and the connection between humans and the plague. The victim was more than able to provide information about where Mordin's clinic presided, and that he was taking in refugees and plague victims. The batarian victim also noted that he was reluctant to go inside the Clinic because of how dangerous Mordin can be. The victim also said that he suspected that the plague was created by a lab since it was far too potent across multiple species to be a naturally occurring virus.
"What makes Mordin more dangerous than dying from a plague?" Shepard couldn't help but ask.
"The Blue Suns tried to press him for protection money. He killed them. Stunned them with some kind of toxin, then gunned them down,"
"He's not just a doctor," the victim said while shaking his head, "Doctors don't execute people and display their bodies as a warning,"
"When I find Mordin, I'll tell him about you. If he has a cure, I'll make sure someone gets it to you," Shepard said.
"Thank you. My time is running short, but at least you have given me a flicker of hope to brighten the darkness of my final hours,"
"I don't want to die," The batarian admitted, staring at the ground, "Whatever Mordin is, I will risk it, if he can reach me,"
With those words said, Shepard said her goodbyes in order to find Mordin's Clinic before more victims fall from plague. As Shepard took care of the nearby vorcha within the slums, however, she could not help but find the timing of the plague to be a little odd. But in order to find more answers concerning the plague, she would have to finally meet the doctor once and for all. ---
Vorcha from the Blood Pack Gang did not waste time in attempting to expand their territory from within the sickly slums. The vorcha mercs, of course, found this moment an invaluable opportunity to do so. Shepard however, wasn't going to let healthy vorcha mercs get in her way to find Mordin. And thus, bodies of several Blood Pack mercs laid amongst the sickly as Shepard marched forward to find her final recruit.
It wasn't long before she finally found the clinic. As expected, the clinic was packed with various sick patients infected with the plague. But a nearby assistant guided Shepard to where Mordin was, which was in the very back of the clinic. As Shepard finally met the salarian doctor, he was rapidly pacing back a forth and muttering to himself in such a speed that Shepard never knew was possible.
"Professor Mordin Solus?" Shepard greeted the high paced doctor.
Mordin preceded to walk over and quickly gave Shepard a once over, then scanned her body with his omni-tool, "Hmm. Don't recognize you from area. Too well armed to be refugees. No mercenary uniform. Quarantine still in effect,"
Mordin also took a quick glance upon Shepard's sickened squad mate and cured him via omni-tool within seconds.
"Here for something else. Vorcha? Crew to clean them out? Unlikely. Vorcha a symptom, not a cause," Mordin continued to think out loud as he paced back and forth in front of Shepard, "The plague? Investigating possible use as a bio-weapon? No. Too many guns, not enough data equip-"
"For the love of god, take a breath!" Shepard interjected, "I came here to find you, alright? I'm Commander Shepard. I'm on a critical mission, and I need your help,"
"Mission, what mission?" Mordin responded, but shook his head, "No, no, no. Too busy. Clinic understaffed. Plague spreading too fast. Who sent you?"
"It's a covert and privately funded human group," Shepard said as Mordin knelt down to dig for medical essentials.
"Related to plague? Doesn't affect humans. Human centric interest," Mordin mused aloud as he got back up," Few human groups would know me. Equipment suggest military origin. Spectres? No, not human centric. Terra forma too unstable, only one option,"
As Mordin walked back to Shepard, he took a deep inhale and narrowed his eyes, "Cerberus sent you. Unexpected,"
"Cerberus might not have the best reputation, trust me I know. But we need your help," Shepard replied to the doctor.
"Why request salarian aid?" Mordin asked.
"I'm on a mission to shut down the Collectors," Shepard responded.
"Collectors? Interesting. Plague hitting these slums is engineered. Collectors one of few groups with technology to design it. Our goals may be similar,"
"But must stop plague first," Mordin continued as he tapped away on a nearby terminal, "Already have a cure. Need to distribute it at environmental control center. Vorcha guarding it. Need to kill them,"
Shepard sighed deeply, "Just once I would like to ask some for help and hear them say 'Sure, let's go! Right now! No strings attached,' "
Mordin grinned at the young Commander before him, "Life is a negotiation. We all want. We all give and get what we want,"
Suddenly, a thunderous noise blared throughout room, startling the two squad mates behind Shepard.
"What the hell was that?" One ally asked.
"Vorcha has shut down environmental systems. Trying to kill everyone. Need to get power back on before district suffocates," Mordin quickly said as he handed Shepard the cure in one hand and a heavy pistol in the other, "Here, take plague cure. Also, bonus in good faith. Weapon from dead Blue Sun mercs. May come in handy against vorcha,"
"One more thing, Daniel. One of my assistants. Went into vorcha territory. Looking for victims. Hasn't come back,"
Shepard carefully inspected the Carnifex Hand Cannon pistol as she spoke, "If I see him, I'll do what I can to help,"
"Thank you. Told him not to go. But he's smart. Bright future. I hope,"
Before Shepard left, questions were asked and the fast talking doctor was more than willing to provide Shepard the information she wanted. Mordin further told Shepard that he has strong suspicions that the Collectors engineered the plague ,their purpose was experimental, and that humans were more than likely their control group. Mordin also suspected that the vorcha is more than likely working for the Collectors as well.
Shepard also made sure to mention the sick batarian she found from within the district. Mordin informed Shepard that finding him might be difficult, but he will do the best he can to find and cure him as she worked on dispensing the cure.
It was tricky to keep up with Mordin's tempo and jargon, but Shepard managed to gathered all the information she asked and left as quickly as she entered. Now it was time to turn the air systems back on and dispense the cure before the civilian life within the district became nonexistent.
----
As predicted, the vorcha and some krogan within the Blood Pack were indeed guarding the air control facility within the slums. As Shepard and her crew entered the facility they were met with heavy resistance. One vorcha immediately revealed that they were indeed in cahoots with the Collectors, and that they were not going to let Shepard stop them from plaguing and suffocating everyone in the district.
With those words said, Shepard got behind cover for battle. The krogan and vorcha were abundant, with rocket launchers armed to boot. But with relentless tactics, Shepard managed to push through the group like a battering ram. Luckily, Shepard had a recently acquired ally as the battering ram, and the ally managed to harass the Blood Pack enough for Shepard to activate the main system to dispense the cure. Now the clock was ticking for Shepard to turn the two main fans on before it was too late.
Shepard was once again met with resistance, but her ally marched forward with ammo and adrenaline to knock the nearby vorcha down. Shepard was right behind, either freezing charging krogan or setting them aflame to assist her squad mate with his heavy onslaught.
With enough of the Blood Pack down, Shepard was able to turn on one of the fans. As she made her way to the last fan however, she noticed both of her squad mates were missing. Before she feared for the worst, she quickly retraced her steps in an effort to track them down, with no such luck. Thus, Shepard continued on, hoping her allies were ahead of her rather than behind.
As Shepard steadily made her way to the final fan, she finally spotted her squad mates. They were several distances away from Shepard however, so she could barely make out the situation. From what she could see, one of her squad mates was knocked down. With a shotgun in hand, the other squad member was in a protective stance behind the fallen squad mate.
Seeing her ally in trouble, Shepard hastily met up with the young krogan to finish the rest of the enemies off. Within closer inspection, Grunt was bloodied and slightly smoking. But with a big smile on his face, he also seemed be as giddy as a kid in a candy store. Shepard further asked Grunt what happened, and he told Shepard that as they were making their push, a mysterious figure attacked the other squadmate. Before the figure could finish them off however, Grunt managed to tackle them and fight them off.
"Couldn't finish them off though," Grunt said with brief downcast glance, "Managed to slip through just like a salarian,"
"Don't worry about it Grunt," Shepard said as she patted the young krogan on his shoulder, "Our friend's alive here thanks to you, and we'll give them hell next time,"
With a determined glare, Grunt nodded as Shepard dispensed medi-gel on the fallen ally. As they got up, Shepard told them what happened, and the ally seemed more than grateful for Grunt's presence.
Shepard didn't waste much time in advancing towards the last fan. More vorcha stood ahead. They stood no chance, however, with the tank bred krogan making his presence known with a roar. Grunt continued his momentum by charging full speed ahead and crushing nearby enemies with his allies right behind. Moments passed, and Shepard finally activated the last fan in order for the cure to be fully dispersed. Shepard let out a long exhale as she finally heard the air systems buzz back on. Meanwhile, Grunt was still blasting away the remaining vorcha nearby with a hearty laugh. Shepard couldn't help but chuckle at the young krogan well within his element. Omega nights were long, but they sure weren't uneventful.
--
"Environmental systems engaged. Airborne viral levels dropping. Patients improving. Vorcha retreating. Well, done Shepard. Thank you," Mordin said the entirety of this before Shepard fully entered the room. This caused Shepard to grin just a little bit.
Mordin's assistant however, wasn't as impressed as his boss. With crossed arms, Daniel immediately protested to Mordin's gratitude, "How can you thank these monsters? I told you they butchered those batarians in cold blood!"
"They were going to kill you!" Shepard quickly snapped back, "I risked my life to save your sorry ass and I saved this entire district by the way, and you have the nerve to judge me?"
"Shepard's right," Mordin nodded as he turned to his assistant, "Batarians tortured you, would have killed you. Right to kill them,"
"How can you say that?" Daniel asked in disbelief, "You're a doctor. You believe in helping people!"
"Lots of ways to help people. Sometimes heal patients. Sometimes execute dangerous people. Either way helps," Mordin retorted with a shrug.
"Go check on the patients. Lots of work to do. Think about what I said," Mordin finished.
With a death glare and a scoff, Daniel left Shepard and Mordin as quickly as he could. As soon as he left, Mordin gave Shepard a sheepish smile.
"Good kid. Bit naive. He'll learn. Let him take over the clinic. Should be able to handle it now the vorcha are gone,"
"Well, we cured the plague," Shepard as she stepped closer to Mordin, "Are you ready to help stop the Collectors?"
"Yes. Unexpected to be working with Cerberus. Many surprises," Mordin confirmed, "Just need to finish up here at the clinic. Won't take long. Meet you at your ship. Looking forward to it,"
Shepard nodded in response, and hastily left the clinic. The sooner she was out of Omega, the sooner she will be able to exhale.
--
Back in the Normandy, Jacob was giving Mordin a quick tour. The contrasting duo was soon within the War Room where they made their stop. Shepard was within the room already as the two settled within.
"Welcome to the Normandy, Professor," Jacob said, trying to keep up with the fast pacing doctor, "It's an honor to have you on board,"
"Yes. Very exciting. Cerberus working with aliens. Unexpected. Illusive Man branching out, maybe? Not so human centric?" Mordin quickly asked.
"Don't kid yourself, Professor," Shepard shook her head, "Humans still come first in the Illusive Man's eyes. But this mission is too big for them to handle alone,"
"The Collectors are abducting human colonists out on the fringes of Terminus Space," Jacob noted.
"Not simple abductions. Wouldn't need me for simple," Mordin muttered.
Jacob leaned forward as he continued, "Entire colonies disappear without a trace. No distress signals are sent out. There are no signs of any attack,"
"There is virtually no evidence that anything unusual happened at all...except that every man, woman, and child is gone,"
Mordin started to pace back and forth as he theorized out loud, "Gas, maybe? No spreads too slow. Airborne virus? No. Slower than gas. Drugged water su-,"
"You don't have to sit there and guess," Shepard interrupted with her hand raised, "We collected samples from one of the colonies. I'd like you to analyze them and figure out how the Collectors did this,"
"Yes. Of course. Analyze the samples," Mordin said while touching his chin, "Going to need a lab,"
"It's on the combat deck. Jacob will show you where it is. If you need anything, you can also place a requisition order," Shepard said, "Once our AI, EDI, gets fixed, she can also help you with any more questions,"
Mordin's eyes widened, "An AI on board? Non-human crew members? Cerberus more desperate than I thought,"
"The Collectors are taken tens of thousands of colonists. We'll do whatever we have to do to find and stop them," Jacob replied.
"Yes. Of course. Can't risk being captured like colonists. Need to identify, neutralize technology. Need samples. Which way to the lab?"
Jacob motioned Mordin to follow his lead, and the pair quickly left the War Room. And with Mordin settled in, Shepard had officially recruited all of the dossiers she received from the Illusive Man so far. Now it was simply the waiting game. Shepard would have to sit and wait until Mordin settles in and does his work on the samples. Shepard was already sighing as she drummed her fingers against a wall. Moments later, a notification within Shepard's omni-tool beeped, indicating that a small mission was available. Shepard exhaled in relief. Duty calls.

Reed put Space in a tie breaker, but seven was the first one to vote for reed. Either way, the spies are trying to throw us off. If space is the spy, then seven voted for reed simply as a possible Conrad. Then reed voted for his accomplice...why? Maybe in hopes the tiebreaker would have an option that left them both safe? If seven is the spy, then the vote for reed was to throw us off...but I was also a possible Conrad at that point, and dadi thought I was guilty, so seven could easily have gone along with that and voted for me. The vote for Space makes more sense in this version, but that's about it. I'm thinking space is more likely to be the spy. What do you think about the above, dadithinkimgay ?

Well, you can vote me out if you want. Good luck in the tie breaker whoever's left over night though.
