If you want to pin the blame on something, then blame ME3. Actually I do blame Me3. Had the ME3MP not been so successful, Anthem may not be what it is today. ME3MP opened EA's eyes as to how much extra money they can make on MTs and now they are running with it. Good thing the backlash is bringing them back down to Earth.

Im just saying that the MT/lootboxes in ME3Mp was too popular, EA felt that they could up the volume with SWBF2 and it backfired.

Games are completely different for me. I never blamed EA much for ME:A, I blamed the poor management by the developers during development. Battlefront 2 on the other hand, EA's poor business model is at the forefront in causing my issues with that game. I would say EA should be ashamed of themselves, but I know they'll never be.

And Battlefront 2 is a very good game too...... I haven't played the retail version (just the demo) but it isnt a BAD game. But if progression is tied to loot crates, then that really hampers the experience.

ME3 multiplayer was very good. While I never played it cause horde mode style MP isnt my think, I am not saying it wasnt good. Im just saying that the MT/lootboxes in ME3Mp was too popular, EA felt that they could up the volume with SWBF2 and it backfired. I would argue that ME3MP was more random then BF2 (I played both) The major difference with ME3MP was that everything was that everything was to boxes; which required hours of gameplay to unlock or using real money. With BF2 you can go to the hero that you want and buy them (with same process). By just clicking on the character you want. Side note: I managed to get Luke and Vader with minimal effort and I'm at level 7. While yes, ME3MP you can always use the character that you bought, in BF2 that's not always the case. The leap of logic (mostly time) between ME3MP to BF2 doesn't make sense to me. I mean, there have been so many other games that have came out since then have microtrancations in them. I find it more likely they thought they could get away with it, since so many other games have had it since ME3MP.

Errr, what?
In ME3MP :
It takes about 20 minutes (if you have level one weapons) to finish a bronze map, which should get you somewhere in the area of 16K credits.
A jumbo pack (which has 10 items) costs 33K credits. Agreed, the arsenal, the reserves, and I think one more... Do cost 99K credits. But if you play for an hour and half, you should have enough.
I don't understand where you're coming from. And this is only if you play on bronze. Go higher, the rewards get better.
And to all of you saying that this game was the canary in the coal mine, no it wasn't. This was the mining accident that left all of the miners dead from all of that phat cash that they could spend. ME:A was the canary in the coal mine. What don't you get?

The heroes (BF2) are under the Assault tap in the character menu and you can just buy them from there. Instead of just hoping you'll get the character that you want.

I'm confused by this assertion, aren't they two different online schemes employed here to begin with because one is PvE while the other is PvP?

FIFA/Madden Ultimate Team is the mother-of-all pay-to-win loot-box grind-fests, it's the industry juggernaut of microtransactions and it props up EA's entire business these days. I used to think UT was the reason EA could fund studios like BioWare to make proper games but it's poisonous influence is killing the industry.
The rest of the industry from Activision/Blizzard's to Take Two (GTA:O) have been playing catch-up chasing EA's annualized Revenue-streams ever since. EA has been 'broadening the appeal of their games' aka turning all of their games multiplayer-orientated-GaaS cash cows for years if you haven't noticed, which explains Anthem, SW:BFII, N4S, ME3/A MP, etc. You can thank 'Sports fans' for turning the entire industry into a casino. I'm of course using the term 'sports fan' as a polite synonym for retard from now on and i'd advise you all to do the same.

Yeah, if EA still sells millions of copies I don't consider it that they got outomaneuvered, they just changed their marketing strategy. It will be interesting to see what happens next time EA does something the internet doesn't like though. I am thinking the internet would be ignored, there was just too much money wrapped up in Battlefront for nothing to change.

But this kind of thinking is cancer. Either that or you people make way way way way too much fucking money.
